    Hi Maaike I don’t use bronzer 😂. I have such a cool undertone that they always look weird, muddy, dirty, yellow or the dreaded orange 🍊. I love blush and use it to shape my face. Sometimes I use two shades of blush for more shape. Most of these would look yellow weird or orange/peach (aka pastel orange). I did buy the Elf one ages ago to try, but it still looks like dirt on my face😂. I’m someone who has never ever had a “tan”. I go lobster red and back to white with no change in between- I don’t even peel. I also get bad prickly heat so I’m always slathering spf and looking for shade😂. My rosacea is also very heat and sun sensitive so I avoid getting too much sun. I’m much more comfortable sitting under a massive umbrella or covered up. I don’t have a large forehead so blush works really well for me. I don’t contour either btw as it just looks like dirt too. I’m fine with being pale and accepted it many years ago. Best wishes x

      I'm almost identical, although with dark hair and dark brown, almost black eyes, and it took me over 20 yrs to find a bronzer that worked since I don't tan; my brother used to say that I burned and went back to "glow in the dark". My first and still favorite bronzer is Guerlain Terracotta Healthy Glow 00 Light Cool, which is a mix of light neutral brown and cool pink blush, so it gives a natural fading sunburn look, never muddy, orange or fake. Also, unlike most products, it's subtle and almost impossible to overdo, even with a heavy hand.

    Hello, Maaike! I’m exactly that person who has given up on trying to find a bronzer to fit my skintone. I’m someone who starts burning in the sun within 15 minutes of exposure if I don’t have a minimum of 50+ broad spectrum SPF, plus I have mild rosacea which makes my cheeks look slightly blotchy in areas, so I’m definitely on that train of trying to constantly cancel redness & some mottling. I do end up using this darker, cooler brown Esteé Lauder blush in the discontinued shade Acorn as a contour & bronzer substitute, as it’s neutral enough to work as both a contour & as a bronzer substitute around the parameter of my face if needed without looking muddy or weird. I also like to do a bit of slight blush-draping which works better for me than trying to “bronze” most of the time, as my hair is dyed a very dark yet cool-toned orchid color. Needless to say, blush-draping with lavender blush works remarkably well! I figure if the whole bronzing system doesn’t really work for me, I’ll just create my own system instead that actually does work! 😄👍💜

    • @FloatinginDreams
      @FloatinginDreams  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Blush draping is something I always feel looks great on everyone else, but on my long face... Nah it makes my face look even longer. So I feel it never works well.

    • @scotzmnswife
      @scotzmnswife 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@FloatinginDreams , yes, it can definitely be tricky depending on one’s individual face shape & what options there are. I have a fairly wide forehead myself & find that I have to limit the draping to my temples, connecting my blush (& highlighter too) a bit higher up on my cheekbones than I used to. ☺️ Thank heavens for contour too, as I’m starting to get the slight jowls that come from gravity with aging (yet another change in my face shape to navigate). Haha! 😄

    I wholeheartedly agree with using „contour” products as bronzers - my favourite one is actually contour stick for Westman Atelier, I haven't found a product that looks as natural on my fair-greenish complexion. Even Tom Ford Terra (which is supposed to be a holy grail when it comes to bronzers for pale folks) looks really orange on me.
    And yay for emphasizing that it's not needed to use bronzer! When I first started watching YT it seemed like such an important step in daily makeup that could never be skipped and one that would suit everybody. I learned over time that with my coloring bronzer is actually kind of whatever and nothing bad happens when I don’t use it. (And when I was reading about color analysis for winter seasons, it was often mentioned that bronzer doesn’t really work that well for winters)

      2016 makeup was all about the bronzes and the warm tones. We need makeup to work for use, not the other way round.

    I am so pale I can make everyone else look tanned!! Irish pale and red hair and my only tan was out of a bottle. I am only getting into makeup because I could never find anything light enough for me. I now live in London and have found kiko and am in love!!! I am using the kiko face palette in shade 1 and have been getting so many compliments on how well it suits me.
    I going to watch the blush one next and can't wait to see the highlight version. Also would love to see a face palette version in the future

    I have naturally pasty skin with icy cool undertones. I do tan somewhat easily, i don't burn. It may be red for a few hours, but turns tan. I began going to the tanning bed this past week (I wanted to become evenly tanned once in my life). My first ever bronzer was Rare Beauty Power Boost- pulled orange and muddy on me. But, im very into makeup, so i decided to try cool tones. Bright Side will be a good, subtle cream bronzer for when ive achieved my tan level.
    I bought Mac Light Rosy- returned it today because shockingly, it was too light! I bought the second to darkest shade, with red tones- magic on cool pale skin.

    It's not inexpensive, but MAC has a blush called "Harmony" which works amazing well as a bronzer on fair cool-toned skin. It's a perfect combination of mauve and taupe, and is much more flattering on me than any pure taupe/brownish bronzers I've tried.
