Thank you!! I imagine Lionel Richie and the producers of this song would have kicked me out of the studio if I had recorded the ending the way I play it (OVER-playing). But I was just having some fun. Thanks again!!!
Hey Steve - thanks for this cover, very very nicely done! I’ve got to play this at the weekend and dying to ask you: what is the sticking you use for the verse part on HH/Ride? Looks a bit like paradiddle but not entirely sure. Sounds great though. Very grateful for anything you can share ;) warm regards, Bill
UGH! I wish I could help you. I am self taught and don't know how to read or notate music...it's 99% feel. I SUCK at explaining things. If I were to do another video of this song, I'd probably play a different pattern. Having said that, it is a sort of paradiddle-ish pattern. The most important part of the groove is to hit the floor tom/kick drum pulses on the "uh" of the third beat and the "one" of the fourth beat......one-e-and-uh, two-e-and-uh, three-e-and-UH, FOUR-e-and-uh. Do you see what I mean??? I SUCK at explaining things. Good luck with your gig!!!
Very fluid plating,What is up the the stick in your right hand, it seem as it it has a bad post on it about 3 inched about your grip point? Great playing
