I created a GameShark code for entering this level: 8009CD65 0031 8009F09D 0031 Activate this code on a real console via GameShark or on an emulator which supports GameShark codes. I activate the code in the hubworld, I don't know if it matters. After activating it, enter the Debug Menu by pausing the game, holding R2 and pressing "Up, Circle, Right, Up, Left, Right, Down ". Press select to bring up the debug menu, select the "level select menu" and then you should see "GTOWN1". NOTE: This code works on the 1.1 version of the game, not on the 1.0 version. 1.1 is the version which 99% of the people who own Gex 3 should have.
Pretty interesting to see this, and just how far along it was too. Kinda weird that they'd get this far and scrap it only to do another Western level. They may as well have finished this one as well and had both stages be in the game, though I guess they probably didn't want to have two levels with the same theme, as that would stand out from the rest of the game's levels.
Wonder if this was the first selection for the Western stage like others are commenting, or if this game was originally going to follow the Gex: Enter The Gecko formula of having 2 levels from each channel and they cut this one and ten others. Interesting though. Would love a remaster of this game and the others.
Dude, this is so cool! Why was this level cut?! It feels more Western to me than the final level they ended up using! Maybe it was cut due to it being not so platformy? But, then again, there's a fair amount of platforming to be done in the buildings themselves so I don't know. Really cool find though! Hope you make more discoveries like this!:)
From what we see in the video, I imagine for where the level is in terms of levels, Lake Flaccid where it's the start of levels getting bigger than the ones in the main area of the Gex Cave, it would have been too simple of a stage, the level isn't that big and it's a bit too easy to figure out what to do, but that's just my take.
Amazing finding after 20 years! This unused level would fit better with "Western Station" level. So bad that designers didn't make it. Afterall, thanks Tigame for sharing this finding. I played Gex 3 Deep cover Gecko when i was a kid and i feel happy that this unused level is revealed!
I wonder if they scraped this level and went with Western Station instead? This level looks western too. Just a thought. Wish Gex would comeback like Crash and Spyro ):
That's most likely tge case. And I also really wish Gex would come back, the Gex games are just great and theres so much you could do Theme and Story wise today.
It's awesome to see unused levels for Gex 3. I've played gex ever since it came out. Any chance you might find the stove monster from the trailer? By the way, thanks alot for sharing!
Hello gssan90s , the stove monster can be found in the recently released prototype version of Gex 3. You can find more info and the download for the prototype here: hiddenpalace.org/Gex_3:_Deep_Cover_Gecko_(Dec_30,_1998_prototype)

This level was seen in some of the early trailers too. And the prototype was only made public after I found this. But that also doesn't matter because this video shows that the level was discovered after 20 years in the actual release.
@@tigame2360 Oh, really? I thought they released the prototype on the same day they put the video out. Guess not. Still, I'm happy you found this level in the final so we can mess around in it. :)
Do you mean the video by Hidden Palace? Because they did release the video and prototype together, but that was on December 25. I uploaded this video on December 1.
@@tigame2360 The level is far from 100% finished, missing collisions, missing textures, broken A.I code in the module/overlay file, sound bank errors...yeah, definitely not 100% complete.
@@SolidSnake11Official That's all true, but I'm pretty sure the level was more complete at some point considering the footage you can see in old trailers and some screenshots from old magazines. How did you access the hidden debug functions in the Gex 3 demo, like the function that displays all object names/IDs besides them?
@@tigame2360 I found it by looking at the assembly code of the game, there's a flag that if it's set it will make it appear, if you want I'll send you the codes later.

Thanks for discovering a secret level. I'm José Miguel Verde, they know me for having discovered a hidden theme of Dream: Land of Giants.
Here it is: th-cam.com/video/5_6pPn4zdtw/w-d-xo.html
You've tried to find more beta levels in Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie. You can try it, just like you did with Gex 3.
Or try to find more beta songs of Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie.
Also, you can try it in Dream: Land of Giants, discover its levels and its songs. If you can.
Unused levels in a classic game is one of the best surprises!
Yup!
I miss this game
And this stage making me back to 1999 now i am sick with 33 years old
Wow. Not surprised a level with a feel good drunken BBQ around a bunch of nooses got cut. Awesome footage of a truly hidden cut area.

This level is in one of the leaked Gex 3 prototypes. It's crazy it was in the final game all these years and no one had found it except for you.
This is absolutely fucking insane!!!!!!!!!! I live for this.

The western level they used was much better than this but I do like a lot of the imagery in this level. Like the saloons and church graveyard.
I miss the gex saga.
