Legacy: Evolution Hot Shot being my very first figure of the character I’d say that I’m very glad and satisfied with him, they done well all except for the inside of the legs as well as the back of them. Hope a mini con pack comes out soon for the Armada characters to have their partners.
I am baffled as to why Starscream doesn't have Minicon ports at all. But if they have a pack that includes Swindle, that would be fantastic.
Yeah, I'm getting sick of Bumblebee's and Hot Rod's fanbases hating on him, glad I preferred Hot Shot and Cheetor over Bumblebee and Hot Rod anyday.
I absolutely loved the Transformers Armada PS2 game to the point that I emulated it last year (or maybe 2021) and got through it all over again, and it STILL kicks ass, so I'm happy to have this!
Heck yeah, it's a great game.

@@Pxtshxt use PCSX2, the nightly 1.7 builds in particular. Theres some unavoidable graphical issues but the game is fully playable.
The Antarctica 3d anaglyph issue can be solved by fiddling with Skipdraw.
@@Pxtshxt I'm using PCSX2 😁 You'll have to fiddle with the settings a bit as there can be some jarring graphical issues, but there are videos on TH-cam with the best settings to use, that's what helped me!

Hot shot sadly is just beta-bumblebee. The main hero role was first Hot rod, then Hot shot for trademark reasons, and then Bumblebee.

Fun little caveat there, in the Japanese sub of Armada, Hotshot actually *is* Hot Rod~ Hence why his deco as the Power Linx version is what it is.
Bumblebee came first though so wouldnt hot shot be the bumblebee wannabee?
@@moomanchu608 No the overenergized person role was first for Hot Rod. After the Hot Rod trademark was exclusive to Takara, they used Hot Shot instead. That trademark also turned out difficult to keep, so they just transitioned to Bumblebee being the main over-energetic protagonist figure.

I just have to stop to comment and say that I love that in your videos you often are not afraid to mention price, unlike a lot of other reviewers I watch; but you will also mention the price you believe the figure is worth and we should pay for it based on whatever factors.
I think everyone is too hard on legacy hotshot, the fact that he looks like he hopped out of the show but with the modern articulation and gimmick homages is crazy
Legacy Evo Hot Shot concerns me with those legs. The way the windshield kibble hangs off the back of the legs in robot mode via a ball joint reminds me a lot of the Deluxe Transformers Animated Bumblebee who had a tendency to have that kibble fall off the loose ball joint with barely any force.
I too hate the universe one, I still love my original Armada Hot Shot (got it for christmas as a kid, glad I kept it) and I’m excited to get This, eventually - sure, it’s not perf, but i’m so excited regardless
Basically what I'm hearing is "good figure, some issues but, he'd be basically perfect with some custom work/upgrades" (which I know isn't 100% fair, you can say that about alot of figures but, I love a challenge) so as someone who's brain gets taken over by 'member berries whenever someone mentions 'The Unicron Trilogy' I'm probably picking this up, when some upgrade kits come out for it
On the original Hot Shot, the Minicon plugged in from the front and then the tail folded down. I doubt it works on the new one, but oh well. I do like how the Universe Jolt can plug in on the new one pretty well, even if the Armada version has its arms pop off. I'm tempted to just get rid of my Universe Hot Shot for the new one.
One thing that the Universe mold completely screwed the pooch on was his shoulder pieces. The original Takara mold had cut-outs so he could have forearm mounted flamethrowers similar to Animated Hot Shot, with spring loaded missiles. The Hasbro version left out the missiles and filled in the gap with retooled clamshells, and filling in the gaps is why they bump into each other and don't want to sit right. Never mind that a lot of the issues would have been corrected with more ball joints.
So Amazon had this and I broke down and got him and...I'm shocked at how much I like this version of Hot Shot. I'm an old man and was there for G1 but I always had a thing for the newer iterations of Transformers once I realized the newer toys were great too. I think it was Beast Wars Silverbolt that changed my mind on Beast Wars in general with how amazing he looked, and that's despite the Dudley Doright voice.
Armada...I remember the Transformers Car Robots series and how it REALLY gave me that warm fuzzy feel with how G1 the toys felt and when that was over I remember how awesome Armada looked. Optimus looked like a BATTLE RIG and Hot Shot really looked like someone smashed Bumblebee and Hot Rod into a new guy and how cool the JaAm thing was and the promo art...and then I got the toy and was amazed at how shit it was. Honestly, it felt like a step backwards with the shoulders and they even eliminated the light feature for the right arm so he couldn't even light up his Star Saber. I have the Generations mold and really it's the Henkei release and...it still sucked. So I just got this guy, the Legacy version today and...It's amazing how much I like this. No really, I LIKE this figure. Yeah it could have used another pass at a few details but man, this figure looks GOOD. My only real issues are some wonky proportions to the back of the vehicle mode and a slightly obtuse transformation that resulted in my accidentally popping his roof off when converting back to robot mode. It's damn nice otherwise and really gives me that same feeling I had when I had first seen Hot Shot's promo art. I'm glad I got him.
The jolt arm issue I think is because they designed it to fold like it did in the show where after plugging in the section behind the cockpit folded down flush with the back of the car forming a Psuedo propeller booster with limited flight for hotshot
Hotshot deserves the Voyager Class treatment. He mayured and eventually led the Autobots in their darkest frigging hour!

Really hope there's later a 3rd party upgrade to move the windshield over to the side of the leg.

The goggles on my original Armada Hotshot never folded down. The instructions said they did, but they seemed to be one solid piece with the head.
This Hotshot is pretty great. Knee tabs could be stronger, and I wish the car roof matched yellows better. Big fan of HotShot, and feel he has really been justice here.
One thing I really like about your reviews is that you tell us how much money you think it's worth and whether or not to get it on sale. I wish more reviewers would do that!
Again. I don't like transparent plastic. Colour matching is terrible.

It would probably amount to less paint if the windows were painted over regular plastic instead of all of that clear plastic having to be painted for color matching the regular plastic. Like, do people _really_ care that we can see through translucent windows that reveal inner kibble?
Meh, I don't really like when they paint the windows. I could care less if you can see the robot mode inside through the windows, it's just a simple figure.

Because people want to forget about the Unicron trilogy (Even Vector Prime whose original concept was to be the Transformers multiverse equivalent of The Watcher from Marvel. Eventually had that concept retconned if I recall correctly)

I had the origina; in that flame deco when it first came out when I was 5. It was a Christmas gift. But since I was 5, that thing didn't lat 6 months. But this did unlock that memory.
I don't know why they can't do hotshot right. It's a simple design.
The use now for universe hot shot on your display is his kick ass vehicle mode

Dude those are some amazing poses! I’m tempted to pick one up. I really want the Starscream, prime and Megatron. A bit sad there’s no minicon (nor requiem blaster or shield) but that seems to be the common consensus amongst us fans.

I would go for this Hotshot if his legs were designed better. They're so gappy and messy looking, to the point where they impede articulation. It's bizarre how Hasbro/Takara have been doing these chug figures recently. Some are incredible like Tarantulas, others are completely phoned in such as Pointblank, and then there are ones somewhere in the middle like this. I can tell the makers wanted to make a cool figure out of both Hotshot and Armada Starscream, but it looks like time and budget got in the way.
Yeah, the Armada cast aren't really off to a good start, which is a shame. I'm curious of your thoughts on Legacy Armada Starscream, as I've heard mostly bad things about that figure, such as the plastic quality being awful. That's extremely disappointing for me, given how that's my favourite interpretation of the character. :/

Best part is that hasbro ended up doing a redeco of legacy hotshot to his red version and comes with a jolt figure and additional accessories.

I guess, only problem I have with Prime tho' is that show's elitists who make fun of me for having Transformers preferences like Beast Wars and Armada just because they think those shows I grew up watching don't make me "mature" enough like it's some excuse to be the superior Transformers fans than everyone.
Before watching: What's up with this title? I really like the new Legacy Hotshot! I didn't even watch the cartoon or know who he is... I just liked the toy on the shelf and more when I took it home.

So looking at the windows on the back of the leg, it looks like theyre just attached via a ball joint on an arm... wouldnt be too hard to cut away at the edge of the socket and let the windows swing around.
Yep, hated that Universe Hotshot more than any TF ever. Had I not sold it off years ago, I'd probably revisited it with a hammer by now. Legacy is definitely an improvement, articulation definitely, but always loved the look of the original as I collected both it and recolor as shown here. Didn't know the canon could be removed to combine with the gun. Fun idea, and different enough from the hair Triger firing mechanism of the original.

I got this toy recently and I find the Transformation very , my only complaint with Legacy Hot Shot is that he sometimes breaks during transformation, but I no longer have that problem.
I do have a question toyguy but what do you think of the cancelled animated hotshot toy? The prototype looks nice and the altmode is heavy pontiac solstice vibes
im really excited for this guy, i was too young for the original at release and the secondary market is perpetually prohibitive. he's not perfect, but he's the best for what i want.

Not usually one for worrying about clear plastic but they really should have not made the car windows clear. Coulda matched the original toys look by painting blue windows onto yellow plastic. Would have solved the colour matching too. Does look like a fun figure though.
The leg kibble could be an energon hotshot homage.

I love AgesThreeAndUp, and do not regret that living so close has resulted in so much of my income going straight towards them.
I’m wicked excited to get him but I’ll definitely going to have to pick up a filler piece for the legs, I usually don’t buy upgrade kits but this needs one.

Squat is definitely the best way I'd describe the new vehicle mode. I feel the midsection is a bit stretched out and looks awkward. While I prefer the original shape of the car mode too, I definitely love this update and will be picking it up. And I'll be surprised if there isn't a third party set that fixes those ugly gaps on the inner legs

Legacy hotshot is rotting in shelves in my local target. I always see him whenever I go to target and I didn’t even bother to buy him because I’m trying to save my money on the core class dinobots and the stunticons

He’s too big. He’s taller than Hot Rod… wtf? Wasn’t he like half the size of Blaster? SS86 Perceptor is like a head shy of Kingdom/Legacy Blaster. I don’t like his scale at all. He’s twice as tall as Arcee… 🤦♀️
@@SamanthaS92 That's show accurate of Perceptor though, he's about the same size as Blaster but not by much. But he's definitely taller than most of the season 2 cars.

I just cannot get over how empty the legs look on the Legacy. Coming off of WFC with its impressive efforts made to minimize those kind of hollow areas, this figure is particularly disappointing.

Can never get a good toy
There was a Prime Hot Shot (Bumblebee repaint) that looked okay/ pretty good for the line - granted that was a totally different Hot Shot.
This comment's annoying Bumblebee stan material lol.
I just got my SG Slicer delivered and it was smashed to high heaven in shipping. The box was mauled and when I took the figure out hoping it was still ok, I saw that his legs have been caved in and the ports the wheels sit in have been cracked to the point that the wheels don't fit on them any more. Didn't even look and the exo suit because i was so disappointed by Slicer. Hopefully returning and getting a refund.
