Burials is one of my favorite AFI albums. I feel like it's largely overlooked and underrated. Davey is right, it's probably their darkest album lyrically. It pretty much has no hope in terms of lyrics, so you have to be in a certain mood to love it, I guess. But some of the songs on it are amazing. The beauty of the album is in the darkness of the album.
The best thing about AFI- is they make such different albums- yet it's always THEM. Burials WAS dark and Bleak and a cool spin. It's like all of their stuff where you can pick an album to suite your mood, glad they made it.
It's nice to hear back story about the making of an album. Even though Hunter and Adam don't talk much they are totally okay with letting Jade and Davey do the speaking in group interviews.
How they feel about the music is important, cuz they made it. But the music takes on a life of its own , so to speak. Listeners can use their imagination and form their own meanings for the songs , that goes for the majority of their work I think.
Antón Ojeda even if he is, he's not trying to spend his own money on that. Its the same reason a lot of great directors don't pay to make their own movies.
I agree. I really couldn't explain it no matter how hard I try - it's just missing something very important. What the album does have in spades is atmosphere, which is fantastic for fleshing out songs, but not so great for basing their entire foundation on; at least not for the entirety of an album.

Wild, The Conductor, and Greater Than 84 are amazing.
I thought this album to be a big cathartic release, and it’s one of their best records. Underrated.
