  • "THE PIANO MAN" O Mestre do Piano
Fryderyck Chopin was a virtuoso pianist who revolutionized the world of piano music forever. He wrote no symphonies, no masses, no operas and no string quartets. He was the master of the small form. Born in Poland, he lived and died in Paris as na exile. How did Chopin change the world's perception of how the piano should, and could, be played by composing some the most beautiful and poetic music ever written?

Chopin was the only composer to steer me away from Beethoven...

Why would you use a piano concerto by Haydn to introduce a video about Chopin?

Just saw this pianist play Prokofiev's 3rd piano concerto a few weeks ago, and the moment it was over he immediately jumped up and loudly yelled "YEEEEEEEESSSS!!!!!!" and promptly shook the composers hand and stormed out. He did make a mistake. 1. I didn't hear it but others tell me he did

Please see the video. There is no French, Russian composer. Wagner is dangerous - he was an antisemit. Or do you realy want to compare Wagner with beethoven bach or mozart? Liszt also had written only for the piano - only one sinfony, but also not compareable with Brahms!

Please, it was 19th century Europe; even the Semitics were probably anti-Semitic :-P
Anton Schindler destroyed a bunch of diaries by Beethoven so it would put him in a better light.
I like Brahms a lot because his was music for the sake of music. It's okay that he wasn't progressive.

how pedestrian, why don't you ask that insipid question to Debussy, Ravel, Scriabin, Wagner, Liszt, and most of the Russian school???
not to say the nationalist composers...

that is so not true. the concertos he wrote while his studied in warschau at the conservatoire. He was under 20 and was years away to know liszt. Years later in paris they only came together.
