I broke my Kaaz on Feb. I installed it the same time as yours as I made a comment in your installation video. I daily drive my car and just put less than 1k km on it. Definitely some quality issue about Kaaz. I broke a few clutch plates and some gear are in pieces in the Kaaz.
Good man Steve, I'm getting a Quaife fitted to my ST this week. No way would I attempt it with out a lift on my own, you make this look easy, fair play. Take it handy, cheers.
A lucky find Steve but at least you found it otherwise it would always be in the back of your mind that something wasn't right, even though it drove 10 miles with no further issues.
I have a Cusco diff in my Evo and the clonking noise was improved by using Cusco gear oil. That may be worth looking into. It won’t eliminate it though
@@Sparkplugsteve Did you end up using a friction modifier, and did it help? My Cusco sounds like yours and its pretty brutal when cold, even with fresh Cusco oil.
What’s the reason for not going for a Quaife ATB? I seem to remember you mentioning somethings about the characteristics of a Quaife in a FWD fiesta......? I fitted one in an IB5 in a rear engine rear wheel drive application in a kit car and I can’t fault it.
Hi Steve watch a lot of your vids as building focus mk1 track car turbo. I have rs gearbox with quaife diff. We’re you put new diff in did you measure preload as this could cause the damage what occurred previously.
Those pulls really make me want to start putting some power mods on mine, but I still have 1 year warranty left, and not sure yet should I pin the warranty, as this about the time something might start to fail already.
Dont mess up your warranty bro! These cars are pretty good and don’t usually fail even with the recall scare they’re still great engines. Look up most common faults with them or ask in a facebook fiesta st page and then if you do have any of the common faults get them fixed before the warranty ends, that’s what I did. I only had an engine mount and rear 3rd brake light fixed under warranty, but It did go in for weird noises too like the clunk when changing gears but that was all normal and I just wanted to get it checked while it was still under warranty for peace of mind lol. Then when the warranty ends start the power mods lol. 🚙💨👍🏼
Have you heard or done any WPC treatment to your parts on your car? I’m doing my PTU on my Taurus sho here in the US to make them slightly stronger and if you do metal on metal surfaces it reduces friction a ton!
@@Sparkplugsteve that was your previous diff? It’s honestly almost endless what you can do with with it. You can do piston pins, cams, cranks, and I’ve heard of some people doing it to rods to reduce the chance of cracking. Do you think you would do anything in the future with it?
I’ve never had noise problems when using proper LSD gear oil.....Royal Purple is one I’ve used with good results.....I’m sure I’ve used a Motul type too. If you use normal gear oil you will feel like it’s gonna snap a drive shaft on every corner. 👍🏻
Why did you fit a RMM when you have said you are happy with standard one and you don’t believe in wheel hop etc etc all marketing by companies. It’s free I guess is the reason
I'd never had any wheel hop until stage 3 so I never felt the need for one. I don't think iv ever said I don't believe in wheel hop. What I don't believe is a rmm stops wheelspinning. That's what I disagree with.

Great video. Just installed Cusco RS 1.5 in rear of my VB WRX. Totally silent with the Cusco 80W-90 LSD oil 👍
Hi. The gearbox fix is big job to do and you make it by yourself. 👍 But practise makes the best. Thanks for the video again. Cheers from🇫🇮
Thanks for the update and glad you decided to keep uploading vids 👍👍

Noooo, that is bad news. Glad you have sorted it tho.
Track day on Monday if I remember. Can not wait to see the video from that too Steve

Didn't realise one could pronounce tooth like that.
Thuth😭😭
Proper job sps getting the job done 💪
If he’s not fixing a car ..... he’s breaking it!
If it ain’t broke, fix it till it is.
So pleased that your box wasn't trashed!
Any idea what caused the kaaz sun gear to fail? Manufacturing defect? Bad gear change?
I get vibrations through the pedals on my mk2 focus that's with powerflex engine, gearbox and tourqe mount inserts
I had a 2 way Cusco in my Scooby, was clunky asf at low speed but boy did it come into its own on track 🤙🏻🤙🏻👌🏻
Sorry to hear. Just installed Cusco RS 1.5 in rear of my VB WRX. Totally silent with the Cusco 80W-90 LSD oil
Cant wait to see track time difference from tge kas diff. Nice vid steve

It is cusco oil. I will be adding some more friction modifier once I put the car back together.
@@Sparkplugsteve Did you end up using a friction modifier, and did it help? My Cusco sounds like yours and its pretty brutal when cold, even with fresh Cusco oil.
@Tasteslikepetrol yes I did, and it does help reduce the clunking a lot
@@Sparkplugsteve Excellent, Thanks. Which additive did you go for?
Glad it's sorted 😁
Hi did the torque mount make much of a difference. Need my rear axle bushes replacing not sure if it’s worth doing torque mount too??
Great video Steve. Have you thought about more handling mods, like rear anti sway bar? Or more poly bushes?
Thanks and iv got all of them already.
@@Sparkplugsteve did you do a video for the rear anti roll bar?
No I didn't. Its been on 2 yrs though.
@@Sparkplugsteve fair enough, any other mod planned for the future?
Great video Steve you dun well on your own mate 👍

Quaife are good for the road but not good enough for track imo.
Glad it ended up ok mate 👍🏻
Good vid very interesting well done.👍👍👍

The preload on the bearings was done yes. But that doesn't have any effect on the diff internals
great informative vid

The kaaz super q had wpc.

Honestly no I have no plans for it at the moment.
Oh God giving me flashbacks to grenading my zetec a gearbox
The IB6 will eventually grenade itself, when pushing 300hp. Luckily, it is a dirty cheap box even as new, compared to something like DSG.
I have a custco 1.5 way in my swift - not even used it since i put it in, cant wait to try it though. Didnt expect it to be that noisy oh well lol

I'm using cusco own lsd oil. I will be doing a change of oil after break in period and adding some friction modifier.
Luvly.........been waiting for new vid Steve.
You better do the lottery, after this gearbox. Lucky man ,stay safe
Lucky guy Steve, .....send me some lotto numbers mate your lucks in. Epic video as per......🍀
Do it for dale Steve 🦅🇺🇸
Weird that the tooth broke off when you weren't foot to the floor or anything, it probably had a hairline crack in it agers ago and finally went
jesus man u have so mutch breakdowns lol iam think i stick to stage 2 when i buy the car lol
Ello
