Gemint is in a class of his own dude is a gentleman. This video was straight up enlightening while I don’t have the same viewership he has i do have one video with a lot views. It’s 1966 batmobile and the fact that I shared my own opinions and that it was never my favorite show or favorite batmobile. I got a lot of hate comments and I had one dude who was so sensitive that he literally told me to get rid of my channel and die lol 😂 lmao 🤣
The problem with a social platform on the internet is people think their important. It’s similar to road rage. Everyone is a tough guy until reality is staring them in the face. Whether it’s Twitter, you tube comments ect. ect. there isn’t accountability. Some of these comments sounded more like constructive criticism though. I’m saying that in comparison to what some of the shit I’ve seen in the comment section. Yeah though, this dude is chill and love his channel. Some of these comments he read though did seem like they have no business on a channel about collectibles unless they are natural born trolls. I’m an old fuck now so seeing where society was in the 80s and 90s and where it’s at now adding the variable of social media people have lost their damn minds. I absolutely loved this video. So many people who have no clue what the hell they're talking about and know nothing about the hobby. Tell me you're an idiot without telling me you're an idiot! 😆
These people don't want you to complain about a high value item arriving damaged. However, they're probably the type to get upset at McDonald's workers for getting their order wrong.
I assume they don't buy expensive items online and didn't receive such an item. I buy encyclopedias and one of them was damaged, I was pissed and obviously it was way way less than this.
Love you Gem... I thought your video was especially interesting because I buy a lot of comics on eBay, and even $5 singles I buy will show up to me in indestructible packages. Sometimes I feel like I'm performing surgery just getting to my comic, it's totally a collector's thing, any collector knows how to comic needs to be packaged!
What a lot of people don’t realize, is a cracked case in the third party market means less value. How did it get cracked? Did someone step on it (by the print on the envelope, seems like they did)? Did it further damage the book? You could be buying a 4.5 that’s now a 4.0 or even a 3.5. The purpose of the grade is to ensure the value of the books you are buying. Once that case is compromised, you might as well be buying a raw book.
I’ve been watching your vids for quite awhile!! This here represents nothing but class from you!!! So much more respect shown and should be given to you .. this is your best video!!!! I think you gave an honest professional view of how and why you went about it the way you did.. KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DOING!!!
Who wouldn't be pissed about a $6500 book arriving damaged man anyone shipping a book that expensive in a envelope deserves to be called out. To me a $100 book is super expensive so I would absolutely expect it to be shipped with care. You were 100% in the right for making that vid dude!
Genuinely refreshing to see someone handle these types of comments in a calm manner. Your knowledge in this market really shows in the way you present yourself, Gem! More power to you, I say!
YOOOOOOOO 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’M GONNA START SHIPPING SLABS BY JUST PUTTING STAMPS DIRECTLY ON THEM. THESE COMMENTS ARE HILARIOUS. To your point, I was mad hype when I got my first mean comment 🤣🤣🤣
DUDE! I remember when you started!!! I once asked you questions about the Infinity gauntlet omnibus. You have really grown a lot since then. That was at least 3 years ago. You've done well. I know it's major hard work....keep it up man. I love what you've been doing!
Amazing that you got these kinds of comments. I am totally with you....if you spend that much money - it should be sent to you in a way that ensures it's delivered without any damages. Hell, even if you pay for a single floppy, it's the sellers responsibility to make sure it gets to the buyer in perfect condition - Only then is the transaction complete. EBAY is a marketplace with good sellers and bad sellers, but every seller is responsible for getting the merchandise to the buyer in....mint condition. CGC slabbed books......you have to have the plastic cover in perfect condition.
So most of these would pay $6500 for a tv that comes with a cracked case but keep it because it still works. I think not. I ship slabs in bomb proof packaging doesn’t matter if is $40 or $4000.
This was hilarious man. You were absolutely right to get compensated. If you spend that much money on a book it should be packed so securely that the delivery guy can drop kick it off of his truck to your door and it should still be in perfect shipping condition. Thanks for the video my man!
Love the video. You had every right to hit the seller with negative comments. How will they ever learn? You spend $6500 and you expect it in undamaged condition.
First, this is an awesome video idea, you should definitely make this a recurring topic. Second, reading mean comments would make for a great drinking game...take a shot for each one, this particular video would have you absolutely smashed!
Gem Mint, great video content! Great topic and respectible responses to the negative comments! I wholeheartly agree with your position and view on this unfortunate transaction. Love your contribution to the comic community!
Its really easy for people to say crazy stuff to you knowing they'll never see you in person or be in the same position. Dig the video hoping to see a few more in this style.
Unfortunately, a lot of people online have a default negative response. However, I always thought of the collectible community to be amongst the most like-able and respectable of the online communities. I wonder how many of those responses came from actual collectors… I always say that when it comes to “value,” the value of an item is what an individual places on it. What you are willing to pay only $100 for is something I may be willing to pay $10,000 for because it has an invaluable memory or personal tie to me. This is exactly why they have auctions. One person’s bid may drop off immediately while others bid to the end.

Bought an expensive guitar on eBay once (as I have multiple times before) and the guy shipped it in a box with a few pieces of bubble wrap carelessly placed around the guitar, and no Fragile sticker. Needless to say, the guitar showed up damaged, unplayable, and in need of legit repair. But, based on the comments you received, I now see that it was all my fault. Man, these mean commenters clearly never shipped slabs. The post office denied an insurance claim for 2 books I got damaged due to the seller just throwing them in a box with little padding.
When you get it reholdered, it could come back in a lower grade, cgc will lower grade if book was faded from the sun, or if it looks like book has a bit of new damage from sliding in case.
I love gem for his statue reviews. I see many pieces I never seen before from his reviews. Then I go out & end up broke. Thanks bro hahahaha keep up the work brother.
