Testing the Maxxis 4-Snow Tires in Both Directions

  • I've used these tires several rides in both directions but I've never been able to truly tell if one direction is better than the other. I decided to test them going both directions on the same day in the same terrain to see if I noticed a difference. After some snow climbing tests I've decided to run them the recommended direction from now!

    These tires are very famous in United Arab Emirates because they act as a hybrid between dirt and paddle tires that we can use in both rocky terrain and sandy terrain! Great video!

    These and the old pro wedge 2's are good when backwards for drag racing on grass and/or dirt. You can get around 8-10 more mph from the ballooning. When you make a lot of power, they become slower since on the hit, they Ballon and have a much smaller contact patch.

    Is that dodge a 6.5 bed? Do you strap the atv down? Need something to haul my raptor around. Like your setup. Seems easy to load off and on. Since you have experience, would you rather tow with a trailer or use the bed of the Dodge? Also can you transport your raptor with the snow tires on? Or are they too big to fit installed on the raptor in the bed of the truck?

    • @PeteHager
      @PeteHager  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it’s a 6’4 bed.I’ve never measured it exactly. The quad is about 6 feet on the dot. It fits in there perfectly with my 2 wood 2x4’s holding the front tires from rolling. I don’t use any straps. It fits just fine with the snow tires. I love the set up for quick hauling but it’s obviously limited to one machine. I get about 17 mph on the hwy without the trailer so it’s definitely worth it to haul in my truck when possible. I’m gonna be investing in an enclosed trailer for my channel since I plan to do bigger, longer trips and I need the security of an enclosed. 👍

    • @johnnywishbone1349
      @johnnywishbone1349 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pete Hager Yea I’m not big on trailers because the lack of suspension, also bashing around making noise on uneven pavement bothers me. Towing trailer complicates driving and parking. Then you have to worry about the trailer possibly being stolen. So many things to think about...

    Hey I just got a new raptor Friday and it seems like my coolant reservoir is a little low but I seen a lot of videos that look that way. Have u noticed that with yours ? I thought maybe it was something with the break in and how did u black out your warning stickers on yours ? That looks really nice ?

    • @PeteHager
      @PeteHager  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      My coolant reservoir has been right on that low line the whole time i've had my Raptor. I think it's more of an overflow tank so unless it goes way below that low line I wouldn't be too worried, just keep an eye on it. I got the replacement warning plates off Ebay. They were stainless steel and I had them powder coated black. Just type in "Raptor 700 Warning Labels" and they should show up 👍

      LiveFreeOrRIP the 400ex is a great machine! If I had a 400 that would be it. The new high vis raptor is wild looking. They’re definitely expensive but I really wanted an extended warranty and I knew I would own the machine a very long time so I figured why not finance a new one. It’s pretty priceless to know the history of the quad and how it was used and taken care of! It would be so stellar if Honda jumped back in the game! I’m just thankful Yamaha is keeping it going 🤘

      I've seen a few people say they work great in the sand. I'm assuming they used them drag racing. I feel like I wouldn't want to ride a big balloon tire in the sand. I think a traditional paddle would be more practical. Maybe someday I'll find out!

      Hunter Howe paddles definitely work better than dirt tires. I ran some straight paddles years ago and I could wheelie on hard-pack snow but would still get high centered here and there. The ground clearance from the 4 snows helps a ton!
