While I'm not exactly into Big Veiny Ones 🤣😂🤣 I really got a kick out of how many times you said that with such mischievousness. What a beautiful room! I'm just starting out on my TH-cam journey, too, and I think you're doing a great job. See you in the next one.
Hi, I have watched all your videos ! I don't normally make comments cause I am always doing something with my collection while watching but just wanted to say I enjoy your videos . Your pretty funny !😂😂😂
Hi, love the selection. I too love big veiny Hoya. You need to get yourself a Hoya elephant😂. The leaves are huge!!!. BTY, loving you sun room... and those bonsai.😊
Thanks. I thought about that Hoya, but it came down to a space issue. I'm an absolute beginner when it comes to bonsai, but I am having fun with it. Thanks for watching and adding your comment.
Thank you. I was afraid I was petting my H globulosa a bit too much in the video, but you have one, so you know. Thanks for watching and sharing your comment.
“Big Veiny One” - you crack me up 😂😂 Love your sunroom & your plants. You have an amazing collection. Really enjoying your videos & your martini’s look divine 🍸 Greetings from New Zealand 🇳🇿 PS I sprinkle diatomaceous earth on top of my house plants potting mix especially the Hoyas & I never get any pest problems 👍
Thanks for all your kind words, and "Hi" to you and the rest of the Kiwis. I need to do some research about the diatomaceous earth, I dont know enough. Thanks for the suggestion and for watching.
Such a fun and enjoyable video! All of these Hoya plants are gorgeous and very healthy looking. You’ve done a great job with them! I got my Globulosa in Jan 2024 and he has been a strong and steady grower. I couldn’t be more pleased with this plant. Such a joy to own and so much beauty for one plant. I agree, the texture of the leaves is amazing! 👌🪴🥰
Thanks for your kind words. Yes, a strong grower and seems to bounce back from my occasional neglect. I'm glad yous is doing well. Thanks for watching and adding your comment.
I have all you've shown except the globulosa. I am a fan of the big veiny ones, tjadesmelengensis, plentaphebia, clemensorium, etc. The merillii turns nice peachy red color. I lost the two older beautiful sun stressed leaves after purchasing it and although it grew beautifully the leaves are no where as large but are lightly stressed. Maybe I should take out of leca and try a soil mix... Yes, I tripped and fell into the rabbit hole and trying to climb out! Hoya, oh boya! Lol, thanks for sharing! Dee, NY
Great video! Glad I found your channel. My callistophylla has been slow lately too. Wondering about flat mites. I chopped it and am trying to root in water. Maybe I should finally try pon. Yours is glorious.
Extremely good video. The insight about the woody stalks "possibly" liking PON, then soil based medium better adapted to soil was important. I will have to watch for that too. I have most of my Hoya in PON.
Thanks for watching and adding your comment. I only have anecdotal evidence, but it does seem that the "woody" stemmed Hoyas aren't able to hold as much moisture in their stems and are harder hit by drying out.
You got backwards with Hoya globulosa and Hoya villosa. It’s villosa that has been reclassified as globulosa. I always use Kew’s plants of the world database for checking, so that’s just a tip. The one formerly known as villosa looks a bit different than globulosa. So if you bought villosa you should keep the info. The correct way to fill out the name tag would be “H. globulosa (formerly H. villosa)” And if someone is watching this video thinking “Oh, so that’s the number for it.” Don’t ever add numbers to the name tag if you didn’t buy it as a numbered specimen. Love your content, so keep it coming!
Thanks. I'll have to try and remember who told me about that "reclassification" and let them know. I've got Kew's site bookmarked, I don't always get to spend a lot of time there. I did buy the plant as H globulosa UT-158. Thanks too for repeating that you should never add an accession number - if it didn't come with one then it doesn't have one. Thanks for watching and sharing good information.
I started watching because of your beautiful red tree thing outside. Beautiful room as well. I would love to buy 1 big veiny one, too I get from you serious @Roscoe vibes which is weird you being a plant guy and him being k-pop guy. It's a compliment ❤ You are natural on screen with your drinks and sexy veiny ones
Thanks for all your kind words. The tree outside is a Japanese Red Maple (Acer palmatum), and I agree, it's a looker. I'll have to check out Roscoe. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for asking. I make them. I get a lot of questions about them, so I should probably do a video about making them. They're not difficult, but there are a couple of tricks. Thanks for watching and asking your question.
Love your collection and your sense of humor :) I have fallen down the Hoya rabbit hole within the past few years and hardly have any non-Hoyas now! I just love the variety and uniqueness they offer. For your finlaysonii, I can’t recommend beneficials enough! Specifically cucumeris mites- they are prolific hunters of flat mites and have gotten all of my ‘stuck in time’ Hoyas going again. The shipping is the most expensive part for me, but it is well worth it for the peace of mind that the flat mites are gone! I shop from nature’s good guys, but used the DMV beneficials website to learn about which beneficials would work best. I tried a lot of other treatments before turning to beneficials, but since making the switch I can’t imagine using any other method for pest fighting. They are fast, wickedly effective, and there isn’t a chance of creating resistance like there can be with systemics
Thanks for that suggestion, I'm going to check out beneficials. I don't know much, but I'm going to find out. Thanks, too, for watching and sharing your experience.
My experience is that they are all fairly easy to grow and not terribly demanding. Of the two H callistophylla (either H callistophylla or H callistophylla 'Kalimantan'), both grow pretty quickly once they get established, provided they get the conditions they like, and both have bloomed for me. Thanks for watching and asking your question.
Ordered a microscope today to check for Flat mites on the Hoya. Did you use the sulfur or hot water treatment? And just added the one that, “feels like effin velvet” to my wish list..lol
Thanks for asking. I used sulfur, I've heard from too many people who tried the hot water treatment and were not happy with the results. I liked the idea that it wasn't a chemical treatment, but the sufur just worked for me. I didn't have to control temperature or keep plants submerged. Thanks for watching.
That's why it's called the "Hoya rabbit hole". Hoyas are like potato chips, it's difficult to stop after one. Thanks for watching and adding your comment.
Hiiii... Ada yg lebih kereen lagi... Hoya Urat Merah : Hoya Sp Gunung Tanggamus - Lampung - Indonesia 🇮🇩 Saya yakin anda pasti terpesona dengan kecantikannya👍🌱👍
Thanks for asking. Yes, I used the standard sulfur treatment. I still keep an eye out for them - it seems I don;t get them all - and do another treatment when I notice something's up. Thanks for watching.
A big veiny one, or a hoya in general? Everyone has plants that just dont "do it" for them. Me, I'm not a Philodendron person, not interested. You don't have to like every plant, just enoy the ones that you do. Thanks for watching.
...and why would you want to get out? It's fun in here. My finlaysonii is still doing nothing as well. He and I may need to have a little chat. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience.
Love the video very nice and very sexy plants but to me your merilii looks like what i have as qinquinervia ...it might be that im wrong i have merilii but the cultivar 'long leaves' its still young tho but the leaves are smooth but narrower
Thanks. It can be difficult to identify a Hoya simply by the leaves, especially since those two species - merrillii and quinquinervia - can look very similar. This has bloomed for me, so I'm fairly sure of the ID. Thanks for watching and adding your comment.
I FELL , AND I LOVE IT❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I came for " the big viney ones".....but stayed for the Hoyas ❤😉.
A big veiny one always gets the attention, glad you stayed for the rest. Thanks for watching.

Perfect hook!
Thanks, and thank you for watching.
I love your videos. I have 70 Hoya. I have fallen down the rabbit hole.
Hoyas are like potato chips, once you start... Thanks for watching and posting your comment.
Big veiny ones are my favorite!! 😂😂 I love big prehistoric dinosar crusty looking leaves. Love the content!
Exactly. It's that prehistoric look. Thanks for watching and posting your comment.
I need a cold shower after watching your big veiny ones! Incredibly beautiful!
LOL. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
You got me at "stiff as a rail.," 🤣
Well, it was the video of double-entendres. Glad it made you chuckle. Thanks for watching and your comment.

I love big leaf Hoyas!😊
Who doesn't? But you can run into real estate problems down the road - big leaf Hoyas take up big space. Thanks for watching.

Hi there😄🙌I enjoyed watching. I love the veiny Hoyas and so I grow a Hoya callistophylla. It's been growing very well.
Thanks. It's either the big veiny ones, or the splashy ones, that get us hooked, and then it's all over. Thanks for watching and adding your comment.
Love watching your videos, beautiful Hoyas!💚
Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
You really like "Big Veiny Ones"...but i get ur drift--Hoyas are AWESOME
I couldn't agree more, Hoyas are awesome. Thanks for watching and adding your comment.
Great video! Glad I found your channel. My callistophylla has been slow lately too. Wondering about flat mites. I chopped it and am trying to root in water. Maybe I should finally try pon. Yours is glorious.
Thanks for watching. There are several good ways to root cuttings, it's a matter of figuring out which one works best for you. Keep experimenting.

How did you treat the flat mite infestation? Sulphur?
Thanks for asking. Yes, I used the standard sulfur treatment. I still keep an eye out for them - it seems I don;t get them all - and do another treatment when I notice something's up. Thanks for watching.
Interesting comments, but I'm still not convinced enough to buy one.
