If nothing happens and everything proceeds smoothly, you’ll need to add 1 to that same XYZ and the Fusion to get the total level of the monster. Level 8 and 7 monsters are easier if there are more than 10 cards on the field. For example, a level 7 monster with 10 cards on the board would require two level 3 XYZ monsters and one level 4 Fusion monster. 3+3+4= 10 to discard. Then, you return only 3+4= 7, and the effect will activate by targeting those monsters. And that's it.
