Let us not forget RIP to Bon Scott. I worked with his father in a biscuit factory in Fremantle Western Australia in 1976
My uncle Donny was mates with Mal when he lived in Burwood. They worked in a Bra factory repairing the sewing machines.
Toward the end days of the height of AC/DC...Bon was sussing out a possible replacement for AC/DC ( Brian Johnston.which he became friends with)the rocking roll life that he was aiming for wasn't all what he had it to be all cracked out to be....he missed the life on the Western farm.....and was looking for a return to it while keeping AC/DC going at their height....but as we all know he didn't get there...the wild country boy was calling back home....but city life & fame ways took him! RIP Bon.❤

i was there in 78 when this was recorded showing my age now the best live band i have ever seen i have seen them a few times over the years both with bon and brian , brian is good but bon will always be my fav . great band what you pay for is what you get pure rock n roll it has never changed over the years . i once heard angus in an interview saying someone said or last album sounded like the one before infact we have 12 albums and they all sound the same , that made me laugh .

In all the videos I've seen of AC/DC over the years, I have never heard Angus miss a note with all the running around, spinning on the floor and head banging he does. Just mind blowing.

the same with Malcom... for Angus Malcom is the greatest guitar player ever. WAY better then him. And he is right. As he said, Malcom could do everything Angus could, but Angus couldn´t do what Malcom did.

Bon Scott was famous for being almost permanently drunk but then getting up on stage and nailing it every time.
I worked as a security stage supervisor at their 1995 concert in Frankfurt. Well.......I had the HUGE luck, that they invited the stage security for some backstage beer after the concert. All of them were/are so polite, completely down to earth and humble. I will never forget this in my whole life!
Ac/dc didn't play in Frankfurt 1995. They played in May 1996 in Frankfurt. I was there. 4th of May

What makes artists like AC/DC great and long lived is that their live performances sound just like their studio albums.

The studio tracks were mostly early fumblings to be perfected on the road.

I worked on the sound and light team way back then on this gig, as a cable runner. 19 and just over the moon doing that gig, one of the first I worked on. Still remember the huge drop from the front of the stage.
The Young brothers and Bon emigrated from Scotland 🏴 to Australia 🇦🇺, this concert at the Glasgow Apollo were mostly used on the live album If You Want Blood.

I was at this gig,,I was 18,,, the first live band i ever saw,, I'll never forget it,,I was blown away by their energy,,n been a huge ACDC fan since,,45 yrs now,,the greatest band ever,,RIP BON....
This was a homecoming for a lot of the band, Angus & Malcom Young were both born in Glasgow, Bon Scott on the east coast of Scotland (Forfar)
Surely the purest guitar sound. No fudged or slurred notes.
They were born and bred in Cranhill in Glasgow, you could see Cranhill from my bedroom window in Shettleston Glasgow.
I was in a band back then and we were about to go on stage when our bassist came into the dressing room and told us Bon had died. We nearly cancelled the gig because we had to talk him down. We went on and played, but it was a sad night.
The thing is, in 2016 - almost 40 years later - he is able to do the same performance, has the same energy and still the devil in his fingers. I love them! And all i wish is ONE LAST TOUR!
If you want to hear them pay homage to their Scottish roots , you must listen to the song that they began with, the song that launched them into the stratosphere....."It's a Long Way to the Top if You Wanna Rock and Roll ". Bon Scott plays the freakin bagpipes,along with with a full set of pipers. Yep, bagpipes, and they Rock them. Angus lets loose with some guitar stuff that rivals Chuck Berry. He always said , " it ain't Rock and Roll without a little swing to it". Angus demonstrates that "swing" perfectly in his performance. 👌
the next song from this concert was the most epic, when the angus is so exhausted on stage that the oxygen mask is already ready and there is a lot of water. He's just great. the song is called - "I'm Rocker"

Saw this lineup in 1979 - they opened for Aerosmith - and they were astounding. Didn't really know them - Aerosmith was huge at this time, and AC/DC blew them away.
I saw the same tour, in Detroit. Young at one point got on Bon Scott’s shoulders and Scott walked around through the crowd while Scott kept playing.
You're right, and no one wanted AC/DC to support them because they knew they'd be blown away. Except The Who... And that's another story...

The Apollo in Glasgow used to be called Greens Playhouse.. And on that stage in the 70's & 80's I saw..... Led Zeppelin, The Who, Jethro Tull, The Steve Miller Band, Men at Work, Roy Harper, Deep Purple and many, many more... It was a 3,000 seater and the best environment to see a band in... Keep on Rocking.
Cliff and Phil get so neglected, they just banging out the backbeat so tight and tough… the whole song relies on them I think.. best rock n roll band on the planet

To build anything that's going to stand the test of time you need solid foundations - Angus sounds so good because he has something to play off. Ever humble he was always at pains to point out that ACDC was an ensemble, not just him. He said of his brother Malcom that his commitment to the rythm guitar was inspirational, that anybody could do what he (Angus) does but to hold the structure together was difficult & took talent & skill, you need people committed to it so he could go out & add flash & flair.

They are both machines. Everyone in the band is very special with no doubts. Crazy that they all got together.
Angus and Malcolm were Glasgow born and Bon was born in Forfar but lived in Kirriemuir which was also the birthplace of JM Barrie who wrote Peter Pan, On a side note the Young's older brother George who produced their early albums was also a pop star in the sixties with a major hit with a band named the Easybeats (Friday On My Mind)

This was the show for the live album, "If You Want Blood You've Got It". That was the album of my youth. Listening back, seriously impressive audio mixing for its day

One of the better reacts to this. Hopefully, somewhere in the world an up-coming band is doing something similar. l'm not asking for another guitarist as such, just a band who in 45 years will be getting experienced like this. You know, shit hot, no matter which way you look at it.

I am one of those, "I saw AC DC, with Bon Scott, 6/29/79 Denver CO". For me, the greatest concert I ever saw, and I've seen some great bands in my time. And since you both enjoyed this clip, you should watch the whole movie "Let There Be Rock". I believe it was released in 1979 or 80. So, "Lock up your daughter, lock up your wife, lock up your backdoor, and run for your life!", and enjoy the movie!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Phi Rudd is the secret sauce of the AC/DC sound. They never sound quite right without him with his deep in the the pocket timing, swing and his more with less approach. True master of minimalism...
My favourite band of all time. I first saw them on Rock goes to College in 1978. Been hooked ever since.

AC/DC had a deep connection with Glasgow, as three of its members were born in Scotland: lead guitarist Angus Young and his elder brother Malcolm, rhythm guitarist, in Glasgow, singer Bon Scott in the small town of Forfar 1. The Apollo was a venue famous for its cauldron-like atmosphere: the heat and noise generated by 3,500 rowdy Glaswegians. And on that night in 1978, the air was charged, the room shaking as AC/DC blasted through songs that would become rock classics and staples of the band’s live show for decades to come: Hell Ain’t A Bad Place To Be, The Jack, Bad Boy Boogie, Whole Lotta Rosie, Let There Be Rock 1.
Music doesn't get much better than that, I would have give my left arm to see that version of AC/DC.
Great recording. Thanks for sharing. AC/DC did a few gigs in preparation for their first European tour and did a bunch of lunch time gigs, one being at my secondary school, Altona North High School, in 1975 (I think). It was a fantastic hour long show and the principle had to kick us all out of the auditorium at the end. Brilliant show and fantastic memories. The band was incredible and Bonn was the man. He commanded the room like he absolutely owned it.
Though I was never a fan of acdc, you can't help but be amazed an transfixed by Angus Youngs guitar playing. Absolutely 👏
Eddie Van Halen didn’t invent finger tapping. He mastered it and changed the way everyone played. This was in 78? VH started in 74 and broke out in 78. Angus is a legend as well. Both have stood the test of time
...and check out Steve Hackett tapping with Genesis...'73 Selling England by the Pound album "Dancing with the Moonlit Knight" ...freakin' awesome prog album. Not to take away from AC/DC, they are the best at what they do!

I was not there, but I am old enough to have seen them in the 80s after Bon Scott. Was one of the best concerts ever. So professional and sounded awesome.
Angus young is a legend! been a massive fan of ACDC since i was a early teenager, im only 30 years old, so i didnt get to see them at the peak with most the orginal line up, but i did see them at the etihad stadium in manchester (UK) in 2016, brain joshson had hearing problems and going deaf so he couldnt sing, axel rose filled in, was a shame but still a really good night.

The most amazing thing about watching this Glasgow 78 version of LTBR, is that it was even more incredible the next year in Paris 😱😱❤️it's mind blowing that any band could get even better than this, only one bavd that could get better was themselves 😱😱

One of my best memories of seeing them in concert, a friend of mine, he was about 6'2, 230 lbs, would stand on the seats and throw all his weight on the seats and collapse them whenever the cannons went off,,never seen anything like that since!!!!
Hi guys. Saw AC/DC 7 months after this concert (the ticket was £1.80 for an upper circle seat) and again, but centre stalls up against the barrier, at what would be Bon's last with the band in Jan 1980. No one could touch them back then. Bon, like Angus and Malcolm, was born in Scotland and his family moved to Melbourne when he was 6 years old. RIP Bon, Malcolm, George

Fantastic! My introduction to AC/DC was the year prior to this at Hammersmith Odeon in London. Saw them five times in four years, but only ever with Bon as the singer.

Saw them on that tour at the Hammersmith Odean, I was nearly 18 then I'm 62 now and still love them. I also saw them in a town called Reading, about 15 miles from my home, in 1976 or 77 it was a small venue we were stood about 5 foot away from them.

I couldn't get a ticket for this! Absolutely gutted as I never got the chance to see them again with Bon. The Apollo was a legendary venue back in the day. It was a bit of a dump, eventually being pulled down. But just about every major act you could think of from the mid sixties through the seventies and eighties played there.
Love ac/dc saw them on the Powerage tour with Bon at free trade hall Manchester loud I was deaf for two days best gig ever

I have loved this band since 1979. Saw them in concert 3 times. Twice with Bon Scott, once with Brian Johnson. You should check out their "Live at River Plate" version of "Whole Lotta Rosie". It does NOT disappoint!

Bon Scott, Angus, and Malcolm (and the bassist, Cliff Williams) were all born in Scotland. Phil Rudd is the only member who is a born Aussie. Bon Scott is the 2nd singer, Brian Johnson is the 3rd singer for ACDC. Their first singer in 1973 was Dave Evans.

AC/DC at their absolute peak there wasn't a rock & roll band they couldn't blow off the stage when every other band has finished AC/DC was just getting started.. I seen them for the 1st time circa 1975 with maybe 200/300 people tops in a country town Albury Australia.

Cranhill in Glasgow's east end to be exact, i was from Shettleston in the east end and my bedroom window looked directly at Cranhill which was next to the big hoose as we call it in Glasgow, the big hoose is Barlinnie prison, Scotland toughest prison hence the name the big hoose. Cranhill i have to say was a dump back in those days and it's no wonder their parents moved to Aussieland.
ACDC's name comes from Singer Sewing Machine. The Young brothers' sister had a sewing machine, with a metal electrical tag on the side that had AC/DC power info. The schoolboy outfit came after a year of dressing in drag, a pirate costume and even a full gorilla suit. The shorts, tie and hat was a hit, and they kept it.

Great band! I remember in 1990 seeing AC/DC in London when they closed the set with this number. Thought my ears were going to start bleeding! You should also check out Status Quo - Forty-Five Hundred Times live at Milton Keynes 1984 if you like this stuff. It will blow your mind!
And to think, Angus has been playing like that for 2 hours a night, same energy, for more than 50 years. The guy's a freak of nature. Unreal.
Anything from the highway to hell album (Bon Scott vocals) or back in black album (Brian Johnson vocals) is awesome, actually both album title songs would be what I'd suggest listening to first !
