    This really touches on how(specifically in America) or politics and our idolization of the president or congressperson can be idolatry. Not to say that politics and paying attention to who represents you isn’t important, but I can see these old biblical patterns playing out in our modern day.

    • @bijou989
      @bijou989 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is idolatry. What the Israelites demanded from Aharon was the same thing their descendants demanded from Shemuel. A representative of Yahuah (an idol) that will go before them.
      "They elect kings without my consent, and they choose leaders that I do not recognize..."
      Hosea 8:4
      Yah has already chosen a king as Yahusha stated:
      And Yahusha approached his students and said: "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me."
      Matityahu 28:18
      And is confirmed by Yahuah himself:
      But I, I have set my chosen king on Tsiyon, my set-apart mountain.”
      So every time we elect leaders, we rebel against Yahuah's chosen king, and against the most high himself. And so when we cry for help because the leaders we elected oppress us, Yah is silent because we have rejected him.

      And [for] their saying, "Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah." And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain.
      An nisa 4:157
      Rather, Allah raised him to Himself. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise.

      @Mohammad Abrar If Jesus did not die, he was not a man, but another being. If he was not a man, it doesn't matter who we are, we shall not be redeemed because there is no sacrifice for sins. The wrath of God is not simply "forgotten". It is laid up against all ungodliness.

    Saul was a Benjamite. They were nearly wiped out. He was also deeply nervous to be called king. God exalted a lowly man. His fear of the people did him in.

    This Firstborn series has been so interesting to me. I just discovered your channel recently and this was the first topic I decided to listen to.
    This can also be applied in the workplace in 2023. Why does one employee who people may think doesn't deserve a promotion, for example, gets selected over someone who others 'think' deserve it more. I'm beginning to see that jealousy and people thinking they are better due to rank and statute, has been a human flaw since the beginning. And it's sad.

    It’s interesting to me in that Jesus is a king. The King of kings, like the Song of songs, is the most King-y of all kings-the highest level. Thus, in a sense, could be considered a picture of God’s ultimate plan. Yet, He denounces Israel of having a king here.

    I went straight to imagine Adam trying to name animals while the predators ate random prey animals when you mentioned it. (sorry, missed the time stamp and can't re-find it easily). :)
    Adam; "OK, we're getting near the end now. Just a couple from the 'cats' group then a couple from the 'birds' group then we're done."
    [moves forward to inspect a pair of large biege cats]
    Adam; "this one has some lovely head furniture, we could call this a mane."
    *crunch
    [steps to the next one]
    Adam; "This one... This one appears to have feathered teeth. Is it the same species? "
    " Yes? "
    "OK, you will be called lions."
    [it is recorded as 'lion']
    Adam; "now the birds. Where did the other one go? Anyway, I think I'll call you dod...[*crunch]..oh.
    [it is recorded as 'dodo'.]
    Adam; "I didn't mean that."
    [it is changed to 'formally dodo']
    Adam; "I guess that will do now."
    [moves right again]
    "is this a late creation? Should it be flopped on the ground like this? Can you reanimate it please?"
    [feathered creature springs up from the ground confused]
    "oh, I didn't recognise you without your head. You've been named already chicken! Don't you see the system here? Named animals proceed past those trees over there. Can't you follow simple instructions instead of aimlessly running around here like a...well... headless chicken?"
    " couldn't you have gave this one a few more brain cells? Ah, nevermind."

    They are seeking after other gods in the sense that they follow their carnal influences over spiritual influence, which is God and their correct religion. It's the carnal/spiritual power struggle of all believers, to reach spiritual operation of Jesus leading our lives. Those gods are evil spirits that influence mankind, when people turn to the world, and away from God... It's not new to us or those people of Samuel's day.... Even as the wickedness of the people wanting a worldly king, is akin to Christians using music and books from a spiritual point, to gain money from carnal babes in Christ who are suffering and looking for Jesus. Even as those babes tend to look to people, before looking to God.

    Are you saying king David raped Bathsheba?... You said he forced his himself on her...? I thought it was consensual 🤷‍♀️ not that matters.. I'm just curious

    • @loblolly42
      @loblolly42 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a common assumption, although, strictly speaking, the text doesn't say what Bathsheba's attitude toward it all was or wasn't. But since David was the king and sent messengers to bring her to him, the disparity of authority between them may have put her into a circumstance of forced compliance. It's certainly possible and probably likely, but we technically don't know.

    • @lisad1623
      @lisad1623 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's pretty safe to say she didn't really have a choice. Both the power disparity, but also women really had no power over themselves in that time period. Much the same as many women around the world today.

    It is distinctly wrong to say the "ruddy" appearance of David can or should be translated as "dark". He stressed it many times and it's incorrect. The NLV is the only translation that uses "dark" and ALL of the translations more than 100 years old say "ruddy". That's important because those translators would not have been influenced by the rules of multiculturalism.

    I absolutely love you guys, but every time you say Yahweh I cringe... just say like Hashem or Adonai or something please? Yahweh is like saying Jehovah, which is a name that came out of the 1500's and was unknown before that time. As for "Jeh", that's the name of a female demon in a small number of Zoroastrian Middle Persian texts, and another name for Astarte... but anyways, Yod Heh Vav Heh isn't pronounced that way and no matter what I love the work y'all do.

      The translators of the Hebrew Gospels from Catalonia have over fifteen hours of fairly persuasive evidence that Yahweh is in fact the historic and proper pronunciation of the divine name. It's worth your time.
