      Depends on what your listening too tbh. Yes JBLs are quality, but for example stuff like skar, low end, high output. but thats if your listening to heavy bass music, When it comes to speakers its all preference on a certain spectrum, i had had everything from the best to the worst over the years.Ive heard trash amazon and walmart speakers destroy high end systems. and same the other way around. I m sure you have also without even knowing.

    Bro, this dude had 6 of those Rockvilles in a ported box and let me tell y'all that Bi..h pounded the lows !! People thought he had 12's back there . I was was blown away at the flexing those 6x9s could do !!

    I have a pair of those rockville 6x9's paired with tweeters. Bandpassed with low- pass crossover at 60htz, high-pass at 2 khtz on a sundown amp. 250 watts to each. They are beasts. They make excellent mid-bass speakers. They aren't full range speakers, but they are awesome between 40htz and 2.5khtz. Been in car audio since the early 90's and used to compete. They are the best 6x9's I've ever heard within their frequency range. Very loud, handles lots of power, and play very clear and clean . Don't let the brand name and price put you off. Well worth it if you know how to use them.

  • @kevinAuman1

    Those Rockville 6x9 subwoofers are near impossible to find anymore but they sure had a nice little punch to em! Not sure why they even discontinued those things and wish they'd bring them back into production...

    Me personally I like the JBL STADIUM GTO series 6x9s. They are very efficient on a stock car unit because they are rated at 3 ohms instead of two or four. Most factory car stereos are rated at 4 ohms but because the jbls are rated at 3 ohms it makes them slightly louder than replacing the stock speaker with a standard 4 ohm speaker.

      How big an amp would that speaker need? Would my aftermarket head unit preamp be enough?

    • @DJBpartyTV
      @DJBpartyTV ปีที่แล้ว

      @@longsleevethong1457 depending on your aftermarket head unit output you might want to opt for the series below the STADIUM GTO series which is the Club series. The STADIUM GTO series has around 100 watts RMS power handling between the 6x9s and 6.5s. I have a factory JBL stereo in my Highlander and my head unit blew the club series 6.5s but the 6x9s were great! So I upgraded both front and back speakers with the STADIUM GTO series thinking only power handling would be different and I was very wrong. Not only do they handle more power, but they sound completing different overall. The stage series is very musical both bass wise and vocally. If you think your head unit has the power than I would definitely get the STADIUM GTO series but if you feel your vehicle has more of a stock power output then get the club series.
      I believe for the club series I had the 9632 6x9s and 622s for 6.5s.
      If you have the power go with the stadium gto930 and the stadium gto620. Fantastic speakers!

      At least put 75 rms to around 125 rms amp. and it will sound very good with good lows & highs with your factory system.

    You are one of the very few shops that would actually take the time to do a comparison
    Most shops just sell whatever they have
    Or what has worked in the past
    The Rockville is the beefiest sub
    But they made Junk
    It has outrageous ratings the kicker would probably have the best bass
    The JBL probably the best sound
    Full range

    When I bought my car, the OEM 6x9 speakers were trashed, and only 9 years old at the time. I had bought an inexpensive ($90) Kenwood 50 watt cd stereo to replace the original am/fm only unit. I bought a pair of Durabrand 6x9 speakers (60 watt max) for only $10 each from my local W*M. They sound good enough with the radio I don't think I need anything else.
    I would however, like to replace the OEM 5x7 speakers in the front doors.

    I run a pair Deaf Bonce Arnold 6.5" midrange speakers with 6x9 to 6.5" adapters in the rear 6x9 locations. They get down, just those two rears with the four 6.5" in the front turned all the way off can be heard from quite a distance. Good for anyone aiming for vocal volume to keep up with their subwoofers

    The best sounding 6x9's I've ever had and used, and trust me I've had many sets, some in back windows, some in their own carpeted box, etc..., so to me, after all the different brands, styles and power ratings, and the best sounding, that hit hard but not so hard it would shatter my back window was from Mobile Authority it was their Thump series speakers, their pro-comp Thump 6x9's hit and sounded like set of 10" subs, they were 500w/850w max svc 4ohm and also came dvc 4ohm 800w/1250w max speakers, I had a set of 2 at first in my 91' Prelude, later I got 2 more and 4 6x9's in the back window, and the hit hard, so hard where I pulled people asked me what size my subs were, but I had no subs later I added 2 12" MTX Terminator Pro-comp series 3's in a MTX Factory built ported and frequency tuned for my subs by MTX, That system was ground pound loud, however if your just looking to replace your stock 6x9's with some louder ones but your not necessarily wanting them to shake the ground but just want them louder and clearer then the factories I suggest the Dual brand 6x9's they sound great are reasonably cheap and mount in any 6x9 hole, I had a factory 6x9 in my Plymouth Grand Voyager going out and I bought a set of those Dual 6x9's were 350w/525w max 4ohm svc 3 ways, you could also get them in dvc's and in 2ohm and 8ohm configuration, and they only cost me $20 at AutoZone.

    Polk audio was my choice. Had some 6x9 momos with some 5 .5 door speakers with some tweeters in my crx. 2 mtx blue thunders in the back man that car sounded nice. I don't not miss installing everybody's speakers and raidos either.

      I had a 91 hatch civic with 4 alpine 6x8 plates with 4in mids an tweeter in each for the doors an rear spots, 2 mtx 12in and a mtx 15in all at one time that was intense to sit in with it cranked up all the way. Old alpine head unit was cool at that time. Forget the amplifier name, but it was putting out like 5k watts. back in early 2000s it was one the loudest systems i set up back then. Polk made some awsome stuff, an them old blue thunders nocked hard. The mtx i had used were some the newer subs at the time i did it. I dont remember what model they were. 😅

  • @DavidMiOo
    @DavidMiOo ปีที่แล้ว

    Probably the JBL, it's going to move more at lower volumes and it's designed for free air so it's going to be more boomy. If the purpose is to add low end without a sub then name brand 6x9, are the way to go. The reason I don't say off brand is because they want those to handle MEGA WATTS!!! this means sensitivity is way off and the suspension is usually quite firm, i.e. it's going to take a lot more MEGA POWERS to move it.

    Oval shaped speakers won't produce very good bass at higher volume because of the oval shape. The voice coil is round therefore it causes flexing of the cone. That's why they make 6x9 replacement speakers that are round.
