In southwest virginia in the Devonian Chemung Formation you can find loads of carbonized, charcoalized wood. The preservation is incredible, you can see microscopic details.
a very informative presentation. I've been reading of late about the Devonian. it is easy to forget the rather spectacular radiation of plants in the Devonian as nearly all the headlines go to the tetrapods. I look forward to further lectures on the plants of the Devonian.
@@psalm1tree466 The fact that you think a book commissioned by a 4th century Pagan Roman Dictator to consolidate his power and spread across Europe by all subsequent Holy Roman Emperors by war and deliberate famine, is indicative of all religion's moral failings and triumphs over masses of people. I truly believe religion has its place as guide to living peacefully with one's fellow humans, but as a scientific resource it not only lacks credulity but was and is a continual impediment to scientific reason for millions of otherwise intelligent but gullible, spiritual people. This notion applies to any forms of religion that exalts a So-called God that exhibits human-like emotions toward His/Her/Its chosen people and demands worship and unconditional surrender to His/Her/Its will as a condition of eternal life. Very humanlike ideas!
@@GeneralSulla The fact that you think you know what I think shows you don't think. You also do sloppy "research" if any. The Bible was not commissioned by the pagan, sun worshiping Constantine. For example the Old Testament was found in the Dead Sea Scrolls, with at least one section from each book there but Ruth. Those are dated at about the time of Christ and no historian disputes that. The writings in them were found to be virtually identical to what was being read in Synagogues and in Churches at the time they were found. That was in 1948. As for the New Testament, its scrolls existed well before Constantine and have been found in the thousands in places like Europe, Africa, the mideast. The truth is you are all bluff and bluster and haven't got a clue what you are talking about. You also did the usual by totally evading all he scientific data that has been presented in my post. There was no Devonian period. That is all crap. But you think you know all about it, just like you think you know about the Bible. Instead of being a poser, why don't you actually get off your mental duff and learn the facts? Oh wait, you're such a great candidate for belief in evolution as you are - no critical thinking, no research, and plenty of arrogance in thinking you get to decide what is and what is not best for humanity. Wake up. Learn the truth. Since that is unlikely to happen today, let's not waste your time and mine. Welcome to mute. Bye!
I did my MA in paleopalynology. Since 10 years now I'm working outside science. I like to come back and just check what's changed in paleosciences from time to time. Did I understand correctly, they were able to reconstruct the migration using macrosporangia?
