    Reinhold Mack was the German producer of many of their songs. They were like family. He didn’t mind John being in the booth. He loved it! Mack's third son, John Frederick Mack, was named by Freddie and was a godson of both Freddie and John!

    • @HAP3SPEAKZ
      @HAP3SPEAKZ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Indeed. 🙂 I am sure they all got along but loved how the camera was picking up certain cues for a Non Queen fan as such. Because I wouldn't known all this before hand. Thus I have no bias. What you guys got was a real deal, raw honest commentary from me.

      The reason John was in the booth was because they would record bass two ways. 1 through the booth directly into the desk, then second from a mic'd up amplifier in the room.

    Of course Roger 's patient with Freddie 's perfectionism. He's remembering all those endless Galileos & how that worked out. Did you know that Freddie was also called The Human Metronome. ?. His friend Montserrat said the music is in him.

  • @mmaloneym
    @mmaloneym 4 ปีที่แล้ว +54

    You saw how they had fun along with Freddie being a perfectionist. He was listening so closely to those drum sounds and wanted them perfect. Roger went along nicely with it because he knew in the Freddie would be right.
    Roger and Brian both in other documentaries stated what a genius of a musician Freddie was.

    • @HAP3SPEAKZ
      @HAP3SPEAKZ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      100% correct. Freedie with those drum beats! There isn't a sound today like that. If some hip-hop artists were to mimic those beats. It would be a success.

    If someone is playing an electric keyboard, you can be sure it is NOT Freddie. He hated the electronic Wurliizer they had in their studio and would always play on the Grand piano (it accompanied them on tour).
    “I refused to play that damn thing,” Mercury said of the electric piano. “It’s tiny and horrible and I don’t like them. Why play those when you have a lovely superb piano?"

    • @HAP3SPEAKZ
      @HAP3SPEAKZ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Marvelous!!! 🎹 The grand piano certainly suits them way better. Perhaps the electronic sound was to engage a younger crowd in the 80's. Which was all the craze then.

    Fantastic reaction! You are the first person who has watched this documentary, who noticed that Brian left because he was mad and, and that the band was probably going to fight behind the scenes, not in from of the cameras. It is only people who are Queens fans who know this because it has been discussed and noticed over the years. Brain and Freddie often clashed, they were often at the opposite ends of opinions. Although it was actually Brian and Roger who were fighting the most out of them all, but also got along at the same time. Generally, it was Freddie and Roger who got along the best. Freddie also worked well with John.

    • @maelcaha5111
      @maelcaha5111 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can’t. How do you know they were going out to fight? I mean, it’s common knowledge that they argued at times, but with all due respect, how do you jump to this conclusion?

    • @ZENOBlAmusic
      @ZENOBlAmusic 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@maelcaha5111 Yes, they fighted a lot. Brian could get very head strong when someone tried to interfere with his guitar parts, there was about of fights about this in the 80's. And as Hap3 mentioned, they all just basically suddenly stormed off, without saying much. There were definitely big fights at the time. Maybe it is jumping to a conclusion, but this is how the topic has been discussed in the general fandom for ages.

    • @HAP3SPEAKZ
      @HAP3SPEAKZ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's open to interpretation that's all. But you will have to re-watch it. I'm certain Brian was not overly happy with how Freddie was talking to him in that moment. You can just feel it. In some of their music I have felt a battle between them. But that could be the instruments just talking. Also appreciate the comment Zenobia. 💜

    Queen wore a complicated musical marriage later on in there years together by the 1980s, etc.. they had Studio a b c d, etc.. not all of them would work together all of the time. Usually the way they did their recordings, the band member said that they would either have the bass drums & vocals/piano OR they would have lead guitar drums and vocals. That's why John Deacon was sitting out there with Mack. It wasn't that they forgot him it's just that when they recorded songs that's the way they did it.
    I love the making of this song and the documentary.

      HAP : Jim Hutton, Freddie's common law husband for the last 6yrs of Freddie's life, actually suggested they keep "fried chicken" at the end as he wrote in his book "Mercury & Me", a fabulous read all about their years together... they were so happy with each other. After joking around about the fried chicken, Jim suggested they leave it in because it was funny & typical of their outrageousness.!!
      The band loved Jim (as per Peter Freestone & Roger & Brian have stated. Freddie said he had never been so happy as he was with Jim living at Garden Lodge. Jim was a "Gentleman's barber "at a very classy hotel & never knew who Freddie was until after he pursued Jim over 2 years. The book is so heartwarming, Jim was the antithesis of Queen & fame & rock & roll, & the band said he was just what Freddie needed... a sincere, loving sweet yet strong man. & no pushover ...who had never been to a live concert of anyone !!When Fred asked him to move in to Garden Lodge, Jim eventually agreed & insisted only if Freddie would allow him to do all the gardening so he felt he was contributing something. He built furniture for several rooms there, they would argue now & then but they always made up quickly with little love notes or flowers. When Freddie found out he had aids & told Jim , he told him he would understand if he left for safety reasons. Jim said to him "I Love you Freddie & I'm not going anywhere, Ill be right herewith you always"... wouldnt we all love to be loved that much.
      Freddie died years later in Jim's arms. Jim lived til 2010 & died of lung cancer. He had tested positive for HIV after Freddie died yet never contracted AIDS.

I'm sure when Queen were releasing these hits, everyone must have been hyped. What an era to have been in. I hope my channel can cover music as epic as Queen created. I have been guided by fans with suggestions and comments. I am yet to hear and do any background work on Queen. Perhaps there is beauty in ignorance haha. Do take care.

    You should check out QUEEN live at Wembley One Vision 1986!!!!! ❤❤❤❤ if you think the video is awesome and this documentary is awesome you haven't seen anything until you see the song live.!! Freddie Mercury put on one hell of a show, and each member does their thing to perfection. I watch it all the time and never Tire of it because that concert was epic!!! Also Brian May first learn how to play the piano before he ever learned how to play guitar. Rodger Taylor doesn't just play the drums but he also plays guitar. Freddie Mercury plays guitar and piano and then John learn how to play the electric piano.
    Brian also plays the electric piano at the very beginning of the song.. it may have been synthesizers. It's just that Brian was playing that part before anyone started singing.

    oh yeah! that time in munich, germany (aka. HAP3SPEAKZ I’m a new sub, so I’m probably down on the list of requests, But “Was it all Worth it” is a fabulous song.....it was done, like I want it all, during Freddie’s battle with HIV, lyrics, harmonies, production is fabulous, not well known, but most Queen fanatics know it well. By the way, John (Deaky) Deacon, could not sing, but he could write songs, Another One Bites the dust, Now I’m here, Under Pressure , Your my best Friend, (for his wife Veronica) and created the Vox Deaky Amp, which helped Brian’s red special scream

    Deaky was meant to be in with Mac. They would often record each instrument in different ways. Sometimes ambient sound, sometimes amplified, sometimes straight to tape. Often times multiple ways for different layers of sound.

      Yes. I have been in a studio before. I don't think he actually recorded there though. He would have eventually gone out into the recording room/booth. Even though he was there with Mack, I liked their energy. Bass is sometimes added after the song i.e before completion. Depends. In this instance the way the documentary is edited is funny.
      Thus my comments are just thoughts. Nothing scripted. I liked the way the camera moved around with them both. Otherwise this "reaction" to the One Vision Documentary would have just been me staring at a screen and you guys looking at my face without any commentary and quite frankly that is boring. I wanted to bring the humor from the One Vision song into this One Vision documentary and continue with that same energy.
