    Great idea to move that usb to the face of the seat! Remember that coffee maker has to be filled with water and I like it near the sink. Love the idea of the 12v fridge. Wish they could add a second opening window in the bedroom but we do like the window at your head but I also like cabinets over the bed. This is a nice unit! We love our keystone Cougar 25RES! They really need to move the spare tire from the current location to the rear to lessen the pin weight and give you more room in the front compartment.

    Great looking 5th Wheel… Finally, the table & chairs option includes four matching chairs, instead of two fold-aways. And yes - good job Cougar on listening about adding the door blinds! Agree on the location of the USB plugs - should be on the front or center console area of the recliner (but not on the inside where you will hit it with a leg).

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Huh.. interesting. I actually really like the two foldaways but to each their own!

  • @stevez340
    @stevez340 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Our usb plugs are inside the center console, which isn’t perfect but much better than on the side! I would also recommend the 12 volt fridge if you always have hookups but the two way if you do any boon docking! I love the floorplan as is, but it would be nice if the carpet-less slides matched the floor pattern😕

      @@Erin-Thor Most people probably wouldn’t want to add the expense of 4 batteries, 400 watts of solar and a generator for rainy days to run a fridge that size when they could just use a two way fridge, but it is possible👍

    • @stevez340
      @stevez340 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Erin-Thor I’ve camped off grid since the 1960s when I was a kid and I still camp off grid for a week with 2 batteries, a 100 watt solar panel and a Honda 2,000 just in case, because rain tends to follow me☹️I would need to spend thousands more for two lithium batteries and several hundred watts of solar to use a 12 volt fridge since I camp in wooded areas that tend to partially block the sun for several hours a day. I have not seen the problems with fires that you have with two way fridges, but I’m sure a lack of maintenance could cause problems. 12 volt compressor fridges are relatively new, but it gives all of us another option to pick from as long as we fully understand what it will take to operate them. You seem to be right on top of things, but it is amazing how many people think they can camp off grid with the single battery and a 100 watt solar panel😬

    • @krisbeaver2901
      @krisbeaver2901 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 12V fridge will EASILY handle boondocking, you just have to set up differently.
      We use a SINGLE AGM, no solar, and could easily over night with the fridge without issues. Max run time on the AGM was 44 hours.
      Now, the new owners of our previous RV upgraded to a single 100AH lithium, a 30A mppt, and a 190W solar panel. They routinely boondocks in excess of a week WITHOUT ISSUE. For less than $1000 you can easily set up a workable solar for a full 12V RV. And, it's VASTLY safer. I can't even count how many trailers I pulled off the side of the road, or out of boondocking areas, that where totalled from fridge fires. People forget to shut it off when driving, or think it's perfectly safe. I'm sure it is, IF you keep the space behind the fridge clean, especially from cob webs or mud dauber nests.
      It's time people stopped giving bad information about 12V fridges when they've never used one. And don't just listen to me, go look at any off grid channel.. guess what.. 12V fridge, basic solar panel, single or double batteries. Every. Last. One!

      @@krisbeaver2901 In my over 4 decades of RVing I have never experienced problems with a two way fridge and I have camped off grid for weeks at a time and driven thousands of miles, but that was when most people were capable of maintaining their own RVs. I totally understand your concern though, because in today's world most people are fortunate if they can even unlock their door👍

    • @krisbeaver2901
      @krisbeaver2901 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Steve Z. Thanks for your response. I should have been clearer in my post. I've camped since the 70's when I could walk, and just before the CV I got into my first RV. I have however spent more than 2 years as a recovery and tow truck operator in 2 states. Over the years of pretty much constant road trips for coast to coast military moves, then working tow, I've seen and/or pulled probably close to 100 burned up rv's, either from sites, off grid, or on the highways. The vast majority of those where fridge fires. I will never trust a 2 way fridge, especially when there is a safer, and cheaper, alternative. I've talked to plenty of people like yourself who've done decades with them without issue, other than the fun of levelling perfectly..lol
      I'm the same mindset against a specific brand that everyone raves about that I've seen have some pretty major build failures, to the point I'd never own one.
      When it comes to fridges, I'm glad there are options out there for people to be able to camp how they want, and plenty of channels to show you how to do it safely. But that comes with having all the information available to help make the right decision for yourself. Me.. we're only over-night or three Boondockers, since my wife is a serious glamper. For us, it's the 12V everytime, especially now with the bigger sizes. The 10.7 cu ft was awesome, but I'm looking forward to a 14 in our new fifth wheel.

    Not sure how I feel about 3 burner stoves but I'm glad it's in the middle so I have some room to cook. Replace dinette table with an extending one. Replace tub with one that doesn't have that stupid seat. I never sit in the shower or put one of those folding wooden ones. I'd definitely get a combo washer/dryer and keep that pantry space.

    I very much appreciate the description area of the specs and time stamps...this really helps as I was cutting/pasting the opening pics of the video for future reference...now I don't have to do that.
    I saw another video review that showed a dual lounge chair where the buttons were toward the end of the top arm rest; yet another option. In one of your latest reviews, you showed a removable center rest...I really like that option for snuggling purposes.
    YES, YES, YES on the bottom up door shade.
    12V, 16 cu ft fridge!!! Nailed it...always worried about food staying cold/frozen while traveling down the road. Add to that the concern about having the RV perfectly leveled for propane purposes; this eliminates all of that. More battery power? Yes, of course. I'd like to know what combination of LiFePO4 and solar pkg would handle that?
    A small thing, but for the life of me, it doesn't cost that much to make the pantry shelves adjustable/more functionable...thank you Keystone!
    I particularly like the side faucet; gives more usable sink space for my hands after getting them wet and soaped up, rather than having to move my hands to the side to get out of the way of the faucet; functionality trumps looks.
    Appreciate calling out the no-king bed (I'll assume you meant RV King) option, BUT true queen std. What is the size difference between the 2?
    *** Thanks for your suggestions for boondocking with reference to the MBR
    * 2nd AC (more power needed)
    * Max Air vent fan (vs just a vent, no air draw)
    * Gas/Electric 2-way 12 cu ft, 4-door fridge (with the intent to use mainly electric; gas as a b/u in case you're low on battery)
    *** Which means... just a little more solar & check the amount of batteries to handle this
    A "real" battery disconnect switch; simple, but usually added by owner afterward.

    A good thing to note: The factory 2nd air is superior to the aftermarket AC because it is ducted. Aftermarket AC will blow directly into the bedroom. Not terrible, it's just noisier. I love the 12v fridge!
    This was the one I was ready to sign and take delivery on in May of last year. Then my local dealer's Finance Manager went all used car salesmen on us so my wife and I walked. Then prices went up like 15 grand. Can't win for losing sometimes. I may have my dignity, but I don't have the RV. :(

I think you should have emerged from under the bed wearing a cheap red cape and vampire fangs. That's nice that Keystone lets you guys "factory" install solar packages - we'd option for the 1.21 GW package, of course. That would be package #37, I believe. This is a nice looking unit, I definitely think the lighter colors make it look more spacious.
    I agree about those USB ports - the current placement is not user-friendly. They need to be moved to the front or onto the console.
    I'll go ahead & pick that nit in the bathroom cabinet - they definitely need to put in a couple more shelves. You can never have too many shelves for hair/nail/skin care products & everyday toiletries!
    The fridge looks nice but I'm not a fan of the side-by-side arrangement, since the shelf space is small on both sides. I prefer the 4-door fridge or if you're going residential, then I like the french door with the freezer on the bottom.

    Like ya said it's the middle unit and the perfect one at that definitely like the fridge upgrade and the window shade really think cougar is at a good point where it has everything without going overboard hope they stay with where there at
    Question.
    I'm looking at getting a 20rdse and my parents are looking at the 2622rk rockwood you have any comments on either of them I dont know about you but ive never been in the 2622rk surprisingly lol, always nice to have a second opinion on things

      That 2622RK would be on my personal short list for couple's fifth wheel. The storage is 100% unrivaled in it
      I didn't get the chance to personally review an updated 2622RK before it sold unfortunately but here's my most current 20RDSE footage: th-cam.com/video/4pqOYky3_vc/w-d-xo.html

    Josh... We have an older (well, 2007) Fleetwood with faucets offset to the side as in this one. As you say, they work. Is it a little bit unusual? For a 'sticks and bricks' house, yes. for an RV? Nope. It's just fine.

    This is my RV. I was wondering where the glass I found on the counter came from. I would say the USB ports on the theater seats are not something I would use. I love this RV, shower is amazing in size. I also added 2nd AC and I'm glad I did. I'm full timing in this RV.

    I feel like RV companies should hire you for a lot of money to assist with designing RVs. I’m currently in the market for a Travel trailer and if I can’t find a video of it from you I don’t even consider it an option. We are looking for a bunk house that is easy towing, a small room for mom and dad, and yeah it’s been rough!! But fun.. thank you for your content and enthusiasm.

    Uncle Josh, I value your analysis, conclusions and judgment on every rig you review; as every subscriber to your vlog no doubt does. Would you please share a brief opinion regarding the relative differences you see between the Keystone "full cat" Cougar 290rls 5thW and the Keystone Cougar Half Ton 29rli 5thW? They are close in layout, options and value. The largest differences are price and capacities. Since your company carries both, and you have reviewed both, it seems you are are in a unique position to enlighten us a bit. Thanks so much for anything you might provide.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      "Big Cat" will gain the following over the "Kitten" version (lol @ the names)
      * True Queen Bed
      * Stackable W/D Prep
      * Bedroom Windshield
      * More Navigable Bedroom (less to trip on)
      * Bigger Fridge
      * Solid Surface Kitchen Counter
      * Flooring changes from Hyperdeck laminated to 5/8" Dynaspan Decked
      * Pass-thru is a little bigger since the RV's upper deck is a little larger
      There's a few other little odds and ends, but those are some of the bigger features.

    • @rogerspalding5673
      @rogerspalding5673 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoshtheRVNerd Uncle Josh, Thanks so much for your insight. I understand that it might be a little difficult to "promote" one Keystone Cougar over another; especially since you found both to be good products. But, that's kinda your job, isn't it? You answered my initial thought when you addressed the bedroom windshield. Not sure you would like it since I've heard a couple of complaints about leaks and unwanted light intrusion. The large night stands (coupled with no bedroom slides) are an attractive asset on both rigs. One lingering question in my mind concerns whether you think the ceilings were both a little low? It's no mystery why your reviews are so popular. Remember Josh, you have an extremely important historical and Biblical name. Very briefly, Joshua was the first "attendant" of Moses, and it was he who led the Israelites to the land promised to them by God. Among copious other accomplishments, he emphasized the importance of faithfulness to the Ten Commandments.

    Like the stove set up, except for having a window right behind it. You end up having grease splattering while cooking even though you have the cook top. Also it should have a back splash behind it. Window not a good idea, my opinion only.

  • @DB-qn3fp
    @DB-qn3fp 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's what I've been waiting for.
    Thanks !!! I'm definatley set on this one. Going all out on solar and doing the fan in the forward vent and going with the 4 door fridge. I'm also was lured by the large tank sizes.
    Also I have noticed that some of the models do not have the USB in the arms. I think some might have up on the outside edge of the ring around the cup holder.
    Definatley a must to change out the window in the door.
    On the 600i solar is it still 2 Li batteries or do they bump it to like 4 ?
    The only thing I haven't figured out yet would be a permanent mount for a generator also. It might be possible by splitting the pass through and building a pull put slide. Just a small thing for me personally to navigate.
    It's basically perfect for my needs.
    Thanks again for doing this review for me !!!

    Great floor plan, but with opposing slides one can only get to half of the refrigerator. Always a trade off. I don’t have that slide out but can get to everything in the kitchen with a 34’ fifth wheel. Great refrigerator. If one goes up in the solar packages, does the option include the Victron Multiplus II 12/3000 inverter? Do they move the lithium batteries inside the rv?
    Definitely don’t want the USB chargers where they are in these chairs. I’ve broken them off when they were like that. Who ever designed these obviously never used the chair and a phone being charged at the same time. Really like the w/d stackable capability in the kitchen! I bet there are some cold drafts coming down from that big window. I hope that is an insulated window shade!
