We got our Boston Terrier puppy, Gus, when he was 8 weeks old. That was 2 weeks ago and we've been quite impressed with how well he is adjusting and learning. The day we brought Gus home, we immediately took him to our backyard and he ran to the grass to pee. We don't punish for accidents inside (or anything else), though we've been very vigilant and have been able to catch him before he starts most of the time. After just 2 weeks, he's already started going to the back door to indicate he needs to go; we suspect he'll be fully trained within the next 3 weeks or so, which is amazing.
As for sleep, Gus has done pretty good. We're crate training him as well, so he sleeps in a crate in my wife's and my bedroom. The first 3 nights were rough, he woke up multiple times, and it took us a minute to realize it wasn't because he was bored, but rather needed to go potty; because of this lapse on our part, he had 2 accidents in total in his crate, which we cleaned immediately. In the last week, Gus has made it through 2 whole nights, but this was during the weekend when we stay up later, so sort of unfair. During the work week, he's been waking up after about 5-6 hours, quietly whimpering, then goes both pee and poo when we take him out, after which he's pretty good about going back to sleep (unless he still has to go, which has happened a few times, so we just take him out again).
Gus absolutely loves us and our 3 kids who range in age from 9 to 13. The only thing he does that we're working to halt is nipping, even though it's never hard/painful, we just don't want it to be an issue in the future. One of the funniest things Gus does is, when he's excited and ready to play, what we've started calling the "zoomie bunny hop," almost like a horse jumping over a fence, except way smaller and cuter. He loves to chase balls, and we're working on getting him to "drop it" so we can play fetch. Also, while he has definitely farted around us, it hasn't been often at all, way less than what we expected.
Anyway, I just figured other people considering getting a Boston Terrier puppy might appreciate our experience. All in all, it's been so wonderful, we love Gus tremendously and couldn't recommend this breed more!

I wasn't one bit regretful after getting my first BT. We loved him so much, we got another! Best decision ever. Its like waking up to Ant and Dec every morning. The fun just never ends 🤡🤡
How is it with the snorring and smelly farts?
@@owievisie It used to be really bad tbh. We changed them over from wet to dry feed (Simpsons). Its improved 10 fold! The snoring? Well, nobody is perfect ☺️

@@owievisie Simpsons Premium Adult Dog Sensitive Salmon & Potato - thats the one we use. Can be watered down for a mushier more fragrant meal 👍

I have a 8 month old Boston named Bowser and he is my first Boston terrier. We love him so much, he is such a sweetheart. The only thing is he is super crazy hyper most of the time and when I get home from work it is always time to play. He is literally my best buddy.
it’s funny because at first we heard that if you get one Boston that you have to get another. We love him so much that we got him a playmate and she is a brown Boston named Penny, 7 weeks old and the sweetest girl ever. We love these dogs so much man.
Recommend to anyone looking for a lovebug companion dog... I’d love to do an interview like this

I have so many mixed feelings about this! I am so lucky to have literally been handed a full blood Boston with a hagerty spot at 19 years old! I am now 34 and he is 14! I wish I never got him fixed at one year year old, but his green discharging all over or white tile was disturbing to say the least! It was constant as a young male and I hated the thought of breeding! He was just my baby and I didn't know about the hagerty spot at the time! I didn't know how special he was! But in my mind I held "rescue only" I still do! But I understand now that this breed is amazing! So sl special!!!!! He now has a mass growing on his spine for two years and he is in diapers 24/7! I was so lucky to have our first few months together with no work involved! He was so easy to train with a site praise and discipline!!! I can't imagine ever getting another dog without having months off to spend every second with them! They will literally do what ever you want if you have those first few months with them ABSOLUTELY!

Excellent videos. When can a puppy get their first bath?
People complain about the BT farts. But I enjoy the smell personally. We actually compete. Who can do the smelliest farts. So far he has been winning.

Great interview, but it’s not recommended to leave a harness on your dog all of the time. It should only be used when on a leash, especially a growing puppy. It can affect their joints and growth.

I agree 💯 I don’t put anything on Pablo even a collar unless we go out for the reason above as well they will get aggressively possessive about their harness/collar which will give you unnecessary anxiety.
The brand that my vet recommended to me for my Boston is the Iams diet for small dogs for Senior Dogs it's purple bag and we have been feeding for is it for a long time and she loves it

Hi we are getting a new BT puppy in May, we have research different breeds for the last year and have settled on a BT, we are in a condo and are only allowed up to 30 lb dog , we are at our summer home up north for 4 months a year so during the summer the pup will spend most of the time at the lake, the winter is my concern , we wondered about a porch potty for the condo any input on how to train them to do their business both outside and on the porch potty ?
Do you recommend keeping the crate and pen in the bedroom?

Omg I just adopted my first BT on 5/6/2021. My Bella is 5 months now. I adopted her from my local shelter for $15 lol the shelter was having a bissell pet foundation event
she was found as a stray and no one came to claim her so I got so lucky with her

I have an 11 month old Boston and I am scared to leave him home alone and typically puts him in his crate. He is house trained but I am nervous he will regress if I am not home. How do I ensure he is ok when I leave him alone?
I first put a baby cam in the room to see if he gets nervous or not. When he does then I start the lite music on my alexa to make him relax with lite music in the room.

My Boston Gracie had cancer in her leg they shot a treatment into it and she has done well

Get him used to nail clipping. Please do not forget that. My boy HATES nail clipping. I have to catch him in deep sleep otherwise he will bite!
Brush his teeth! My Pekishis have had to have multiple teeth removed. When I get my Boston he'll get his teeth brushed!
