- Once the conversion is complete, how does it work on the generator?
The combustible gas (LPG/CNG) is converted from high-pressure gas to low-pressure gas and supplied smoothly to the generator. When the generator is started up, the negative pressure enters into the pressure-regulating valve through the mixer. The sealing arm opens the valve and the combustible gas is supplied to the generator after decompression, so the machine operates smoothly.
When the generator switches off, the pressure-regulating valve will close at the same time. The flow of gas will thus be cut off and the machine shuts down completely. The original power output of generator is not affected by the installation of the LPG/CNG conversion kit carburetor. Safety and Durability
Apart from being far safer to operate than petrol-fed units, running on LPG extends the working life of your generator, thanks to its smoother operation when compared to petrol. In long periods of dormancy, gas will not produce any sediment, thus avoiding any difficulty starting up or sediment deposits damaging the engine. This reduction in sediment and deposits also reduces the frequency of servicing for the generator. One also avoids any wastage from stale petrol, oil slicks in the carburetor or dilution of the generator's internal lubrication.

How long will 12.5kg of propane gas last you. Which is more economical between gasoline and propane?
That's a tough one safetyalways! How long is a piece of string? LPG is Liquefied petroleum gas. In this direct instance, running your generator off gas would be far more efficient and less costly than gasoline. yes, petrol and diesel does give you more torque when considering motor vehicle engines. Generators are used to convert fuel into electricity. For which LPG is much better paired.

yeah, it was used in close proximity while we were filming. We had to get both product and gas bottle in focus for this display. but yes, you can put it as far away as you like or however long your regulator hose is.

Now we need some kind of fuel lubrication, kinda like 2 stroke oil. I've heard that lP and natural gas wash the cylinder dry, which becomes excessive wear early ?
Starting with "full" Choke (as in closed/"enriched" for cold starting), or no Choke (i.e. full open/no enrichment)? Also, theoretically, pull starting should be easier, when "cold", as LP/air mix is already "atomized", vs. gasoline/air. FWIW, not interested in dual-fuel... prefer to go LP only.
If you are to run 6kg propane gas. How many hours or days will it run consistently? 8:20 8:20
We havent used a 6KG gas bottle yet. we used it on a 9kg bottle for load shedding. Ours lasted about a week. which is about 4 hours per day. Although, the gas bottle was not full when we started using it! will keep you posted!

If you want to use HHO you will have to do some alterations on generator sparking timing. HHO is a pure hydroxygen gas which burns smoothly without emission of dangerous carbon while the methane gas(cooking gas) is an hydrocarbon. All generators have been designed to burn hydrocarbon (either petrol, diesel, methane, propane etc). Unless you contact the generator manufacturer to design a generator that can burn HHO directly for you or you do the conversion by yourself.
Is there any difference btw propane and the natural gas?
There are a lot of similarities between natural gas and propane. Both are odourless, colourless, and clean-burning fossil fuels.
Propane is the cleanest burning fossil fuel available, and it produces about half the carbon dioxide and other emissions of gasoline. It also doesn’t harm water or soil. Natural gas is mostly made up of methane, a greenhouse gas that’s about 84 times more potent than carbon dioxide. Fortunately, natural gas also burns more cleanly than most other fossil fuels. Therefore, pollutants from natural gas can usually only get into the atmosphere after leaks in pipelines or accidents during drilling. After spending several years in the air, methane will break down into carbon dioxide on its own.
Since coal power plants are popular in the United States, methane and propane are both more environmentally friendly than electricity in many areas. Both types of fuel are hydrocarbons, but they have different chemical compositions. Methane is CH4, and propane is C3H8. Propane is actually a byproduct of petroleum refining and natural gas processing, along with other hydrocarbons like butane, ethane, and pentane. 😋

I have a duel fuel carburettor and I tested it with just a 1st stage reg and it sounded like dog poo how do you get the air fuel mixture right when load comes on and then drops off

We used LPG. Not propane. it was about 3 days, roughly 6-8 hours each day.

ok, you have to think of your generator the same was as a car engine. As in, the higher the rev count. the more fuel you burn. By converting from Petrol to Gas, is about 20% more efficient. However, if you are operating/running your generator at FULL capacity and constantly, you would go through more gas, the same as you would petrol.
Listen to the generator Revs. if the revs are high. you are consuming more fuel. be it petrol or gas. however, gas is more efficient. 👍👍

@@maverickndubuisi7267 its a different kettle of fish. 😋 You need to compare apples with apples. Fuel ( Petrol and Diesel) in South Africa is largely very expensive. Gas is by far the cheaper alternative. We would have to mathematically calculate the equivalent to 10Litres of petrol, VS 5KG of gas when it comes to consumption. However, in our country 5Kg of LPG is cheaper than 10L of unleaded. 😉😉 With Load shedding seemingly on the cards for the next 10-15 years, for us, this is product is a necessity.🥸🥸

This doesn't work with the choke
No it wouldn't. Remember, the choke lets more neat fuel into the engine. So that the fuel can ignite easier to get started. Now that you have substituted petrol fuel for gas fuel, it will not have the same effect.
Gas should start your generator easier, without the need to use a choke.

Yes
@@pricelessdelacruz90 Yes, the generator is like an engine - it does require oil. However, because you are using LPG gas, there is no carbon build up. Which means your oil stays cleaner for longer. Please note, that these carburetors WONT work on 2 stroke engines. Only 4 stroke engines.

How safe is that converter?and what is the life time of one.
When to replace one after long time use.
There's a diaphragm in the LPG mixer, it's the only thing that could need replacing, good luck finding one, I have a single fuel LPG (Greenpower brand ... single fuel LPG from the factory) genny, cannot find a supplier for the diaphragm, importer sells complete units ... but stocks no parts at all!
It is safe. tried and tested. We purchased ours because the manufacturer said that it had an unlimited warranty. however, if you are using your generator near the seafront or externally, we encourage you to get a housing for the entire generator to prevent long term damage and corrosion from the weather elements. in all honesty, the carburetor might outlast your generator. depending on your generator make and model.
I know that normal carburetors can leak due to stuck float.

What's the difference between LPG. & CNG?
CNG is an abbreviation of “Compressed Natural Gas” whereas LPG is an abbreviation of “Liquefied Petroleum Gas”. The primary difference between CNG and LPG lies in the components that make up these fuels. While CNG is primarily made up of Methane, LPG is primarily made up of propane.👍👍
