When I was a kid, I used to love watching spiders make their webs, I just thought it was so amazing that something so small, with such a small amount of brainpower could create something so complex based purely on instinct.

Take an example of the Giant Orb Weaver Spider that is Nephila Phillips. Search up photos of these spiders mating, along with the larger female, you will spot the much smaller males. Only then will you get an idea about how large these spiders truly are as far as male vs female size is concerned.

I gave her some leaves and grass to cover the egg sac with and she used them. She has long since passed and we are guarding her egg sac til spring when we will very gently transport it to a safer area, in the forest so it can hatch and the babies will not be running rampant in our apartment :)

When you overcome the thought of the string coming from the spiders but, then this is actually very satisfying to watch

Adorable spider with a sweet little message:
"If you chance to meet a frown,
    Do not let it stay.
    Quickly turn it upside down
    And smile that frown away!
No one likes a frowny face.
    Change it for a smile.
Make the world a better place
    By smiling all the while."

It's sad that people hate spiders so much cause they're so beautiful and intricate when making their webs! This little guy is a great example of how cool spiders can be

How does he know the distance between each layer of inner web that he is making. Also, do they know this already or does the momma spider somehow teach them?...mam webs are cool

Aloha! In Hawaii, we call these "crab spiders". These little guys build webs everywhere!! They love the outdoors, and if they bite you, the itchiness can be maddening!!
