What's up Austin? I removed a Woden fence so I could kill the POISON SUMAC GROWING between my and a neighbor's wooden fence. To top it all off, I got SNAKE BIT! I have lots of tests to take....still. I think that picking Devin to drive was a great idea. He is very versatile, he drives a lot of different things, and the HYPER BLUE EVO 8 is Making some serious power. Those pulls are out of control powerful. He knows what he is doing. I really enjoyed it! Thanks.
Bud, I wouldn't care it the tdi top speed was 40 mph, I'm in love with that truck, but both are sweet builds all the way!!! 👌👍💯

With the mods done to the TDi, it's probably around 180hp and closing in on 300fpt

Awesome! A week doesn't go by that someone doesn't want to buy my 94 Toyota 4 x 4.Stainless Roll Bar, Back Bumper and Door Bars. 4" pipe. Still need a ss Front Bumper. It is as slow as an Amigo. Maybe 100 HP. But I doubt it. Amazing trucks you have built. They are pristine. Thanks For sharing.

Sorry if you’ve answered this somewhere else, but I haven’t seen anywhere where you mentioned what gear ratio if you’re running the axles of the TDI swap.

TDI is not stock…he said that. Love both these trucks but I’m really wanting to see where the 4 door goes. I bought an 03 double cab several months ago but I can say that being almost 49 and working all the time forces mine to sit with a load of parts waiting to be put on. I used to have the time and energy you have! Lol
I'm in the same age range and have the same problem. The only time I have for my builds is the weekends when other stuff doesn't get in the way.
Super clean builds, what you do with modded OEM parts looks so much better than any aftermarket part. What's your favorite one? That TDI scoots.

It will be interesting to see how the BHW performs once you get the swap finished. How close are the curb weights of the two trucks? I'd think the red truck might be a bit heavier with the flatdeck.
I’m excited to see what it does! I’d say with the flatbed they are pretty close. I’m doing 33’s on the taco so that should help too
@@austinniemela I weighed my '97 4Runner at a truck scale before pulling the 3.4 and A340 trans, and I'll weigh it again once i finish the Stage 2 BHW/R150F swap. I predict saving about 200lbs once it's all said and done.
I keep going back to this vid because I'm stoked to get my own TDI on the road. The donor motor was a bit more tired than I expected so right now I'm waiting for the head to get back from the machine shop with a new stage 2 cam and some mild porting. Should be another couple of weeks before It's all done. Going to dyno it, too!

@@xav1uz Not well. The Malone Stage 2 tune was way off and caused some detonation. Going to dig in later this month to assess the extend of any internal damage. Worst case scenario: new engine. Best case: $300 re-tune.
What is the weight on the TDI Tacoma? I only ask because I have an ALH out of a Beetle I’m looking to swap into a 1st generation Isuzu Trooper overland build. I know stock the ALH did 90HP 150 torque, but has the ability to push much more. The Trooper weight is 3700lbs and over 4000lbs loaded. Do you think the 1.9TDI has enough HP and Torque rebuilt like yours of course to move around +4000lbs Trooper around the trails?
should check out the Fbook page TDI swapped trucks a lot of good info in there. From the post's I have seen it should have no problem but you'll need to do a similar set up Austin is my guess with bigger injectors, 11mm pump, larger turbo maybe ARP headstuds depending on boost. I daily a stage 4 Malone tuned VNT17 TDI golf ALH engine code and its defiantly a blast to drive, surprise a good amount of people when they think its a slow azz TDi lol.
3.4 with the superchargers are really fun! 1st gear is pointlessly on mine

What’s the ballpark price to 3.4 swap a existing 3.0 pickup? I have a 92 extended cab that my mother law is the original owner of, it’s been sitting since 2014 has a few thousand miles on a remaned 3.0 and what do you know it blew the head gasket again, I also live in WA over in kitsap county, you interested in performing another swap?

I should have swapped in a beefier trans in my build. Its just a suzuki sidekick trans. a lot stronger than a samurai trans, but nowhere near the r150.

Hello! I have a hilux from 1989. Will the back window from tacoma fit? Never seen that window in Sweden!
Not sure if a Tacoma window would fit Hilux, but both versions of the rear glass were available for the Hilux
I drove a 2000 jetta TDI, that thing was quick. I'm going to say the red truck wins.
Does changing the wheel size not affect the vehicle performance too much
It dose but you make up for it by changing the gearing in the axle but if I recall the red truck is stock v6 gearing because of the lower power curve.
What are great build on both trucks excellent work thanks toyota for not making a diesel option in the usa or a factory supercharger option and letting your customers get screwed to the tune of 7000 dollars for a gen 3 supercharger

2nd gear in the tdi is kryptonite to the v6
Now keep in mind, these are not race cars. The question is 'which one pulls off idle best?' Which one idles up obstacles without touching the throttle?
