3D Animated Documentary which explain key components of the Project
Suki Kinari hydropower project is run-of-the-river hydropower project being developed in Kaghan Valley, Mansehra district, Pakistan. Suki Kinari Hydro Private Limited (SK Hydro), in which China Gezhouba Group holds a majority stake of 98%, is developing the project with an estimated investment of $1.96bn.
Ground-breaking ceremony of the project was conducted in March 2017, while operations are expected to be started by December 2022. The plant is forecasted to provide 3,081 million GWh clean electricity per annum to the national grid by 2022.

How this project works & controls.
How to electricity supply the grid?
why did they design so long tunnels like almost 22kms? one reason is probably to give water that specific velocity to run turbine as the powerhouse is downstream but why so long like it could have been a few kms. looking for logical answer.
Its diversion type run off river project with highest head in Pakistan (over 900m). Due to area topography and geological conditions including several fault zones, designer avoid to put the underground powerhouse near to the fault area especially Bunja Fault therefore its HRT length is 22km then about 2 km twin Penstock crossing active fault with pressure tunnel and pressure shafts arrangement ended up in underground powerhouse cavern which have rock cover of about 400m and away from fault.
During investigation drilling and excavation of Dam there was no such zones identified. However 120m deep cut off wall with asphalt core rock fill dam can sustain ground movement if occurred in that area.
