I just bought a 1989. supposedly it runs as of october (started after I picked it up at the gas station) but when I went to pick it up it had a hole in the front. it was already so cheap I couldnt really haggle. I am excited to get this thing cleaned up and fix the hole and get some graphics. its in great shape other than the hole!! Its my first pwc
I just got a 1990 yamaha wra650d jetski, guy said it turned over before they parked it, been in the elements (new York) for a few years. What should I do to see if it runs good and a tune up?
Put the battery on a trickle charger. Probably worth the $80 to put a new battery in it if yours doesn’t take a charge. Drain/syphon the fuel tank, put some fresh premix 93 in the tank, pull the plugs out and see if it cranks over. If it doesn’t crank, jump the starter solenoid. See if it sounds good and smooth without plugs, then see if it’s got spark. Feel free to message me if you get stuck! Probably going to need a good carb clean/rebuild! I think I left a link in the description to a really good video showing how to rebuild these carbs and fuel pumps. Let me check.
Hey man, there should be a fuel pump next to the carb. Here’s the link to the kit I used to rebuild my fuel pump: www.ebay.com/itm/201796991113?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=-7aqEOPxSUK&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=JJYDTT0LRYy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY It’s off eBay: Fuel Pump Repair Kit Yamaha 650 #1585 006-401 for a 1990-1996 Waverunner 3, should be about $25 sold by WSM Here’s a good video on how to rebuild it: th-cam.com/video/N8gEGw6EXZg/w-d-xo.html Best of luck! That’s awesome, man! Things are a ton of fun and they’re pretty easy to work on (in terms of access as a PWC). Best of luck!

I have the same jetski, how does the fuel pump? I cleaned my carb but it doesn't seem to be getting any fuel

@backcountrybuilds yea I rebuilt that part too, could it be a cracked hose or bad fuel lines?
@@Maxspeed7Dude does it run on starting fluid?
@@backcountrybuilds yes
@@Maxspeed7Dude when you crank the starter over does the fuel pump pump fuel if you disconnect the fuel line from where it goes into the carb?
Buds, get a bench, I hate seeing people work off the floor. My back hurts just watching this. Lol
@@nickcentrone1679 hahaha yes sir… I’ve got a big bench now! Thanks for watching.
So I found one for 500 bucks with a trailer doesn’t run they guy doesn’t know what’s wrong with it is it worth that it’s a 1990 Yamaha wave runner |||
I’d scoop it up! Just make sure it has a title so you can enjoy it legally!
@@backcountrybuilds definitely so it’s worth that much?
@@Huntersprojects I think $600 would be too much and $400 would be a steal, so I’d probably go for it!
@@backcountrybuilds alright
@@Huntersprojects does it come with a trailer?
