Now that brings back memories, my old playground when my parents had the shop outside the old westoe entrance at the bridge selling chewing bacy snuff and ice cream untill the gits put a wall up lol used to go fishing for the carp in the water storage tank sold loads to the pet shops, pie chips and gravy from the pit canteen for dinner and what went on in the cemetry after dark I will keep to myself, nice piece of history seeing its all gone now.

I currently live in Leighton Street right next to here, I just wanted to see what the view out of my window would have been like when it was still a mine not a housing estate, I was born the year it shut

Has there ever been any reunions? Would love to come up(I live near Mansfield now) I remember the guy on the Dosco as davy cos he worked on a couple of faces I was on. My last and best job at Westa was on Refuge Holes(The best in the Northeast! lol) Brian. H.

Oh i know that i was there,and i also worked down The Pit in Staffordshire,so i know how fast The Cages would go down,and what happens when it suddenly stops !!!!!
people did go underground ed, but they had to make the "lift" or cage go down git slow cos if it had been normal workin speed it woulda made the buggers throw up(very fast drop rate) lol . NCM????
