Y'all are leaving some excellent comments so LET'S DISCUSS
#1 Topic: ROG ALLY WINS, NOT STEAM DECK
A lot of commenters are saying this is a win for the ROG Ally and I would not dispute that whatsoever. ROG Ally won big. There are two segments in this video that are about the Steam Deck winning and one of them applies more to the ROG Ally (and other Windows handhelds) and the other, not quite as much.
Linux rising above 2% is not a huge win for the Ally but given that Steam Deck was such a large contributor to this, I think it's a win for the PC handheld ecosystem as a whole.
All those MS Showcase games coming to PC is an even bigger win for Ally than it is for Steam Deck because Ally is more powerful and has Gamepass compatibility. That's a no brainer! Steam Deck winning is not mutually exclusive from the ROG Ally in my opinion
#2 Topic: BESPOKE LINUX CONFIGS
Thanks so much for leaving these! Shout out to mitcoes who had his comment pinned and should still be near the top of the comments. All of the different ways to config were intimidating to me but I'm happy to be hopping in the shallow end and seeing what the expert swimmers are doing. Please keep commenting these.
#3 Topic: NEXT FEST DEMOS
Heck yes. So happy to see people commenting demos they enjoyed. Thanks to commenters, I've already downloaded wild bastards, kitsune tails, mind over magnet, Lone Fungus II, Mirthwood, and Glyde the Dragon. Also after this video came out, a bunch of other demos went live including: I Am Your Beast, Metal Slug Tactics, Blade Chimera, and more. I'll be trying as many as I can and probably making an updated video on these games.
Rog ally doesnt win if the company is trying to scam you for repairs, louis rossmann and gaming nexus showed proof in their video
Steam deck also has gamepass comparability and it’s pretty simple to do. I play gamepass on my steam deck all the time
@@Deadpoolhead888 How come? How can I play gamepass games on steam deck?
The steam deck convinced me that I can daily drive linux. Haven't looked back.
same
After a couple of years of being away from Windows you may start thinking it wasn't all that bad and you're probably misremembering it to be worse than it actually was.
In my experience that usually goes away pretty quickly whenever you're unfortunate enough to have to deal with a Windows system and find that it's actually worse than you remembered. Distance makes the heart grow fonder.
I just still want C.O.D
I can’t, I’ve been trying to find a way to use multisim on Linux or macOS and just gave up.
@@majorgnuI get reminded daily how crap windows is now that I have had a steam deck for 3 months or so my work uses windows and Microsoft for everything and I can’t stand it now that I have had a taste of Linux 😂
0:57 If you look closer it is 35.64% Steam Deck LCD and 13.16% Steam Deck OLED.
One of the reasons I want a Steam deck is for the ability to test the Linux waters.
It's a trojan horse and I love it
Same here.
It's definitely good for testing. Ultimately, I went with the ROG ally mainly for pc mods, early access, and anti cheat.
You can put steam os on any handheld
why do you need a steam deck to do that
I've been using Linux for more than 15 years and I can tell you that now it's the best time to switch from Windows!!! All the acomplishments that Linux have been made all those years and the support from different organizations makes Linux a real race horse going head to head with the other two main OS's. DaVinci Resolve is just one of these examples. You won't regret it at all!!
Nice! As a casual, I can say that I've dual booted various times over the years and it is currently the most approachable it's ever been and I'm confident it will only get better while it looks like Windows will only get worst. I don't have a lot of experience with Mac tbh. I'm excited to dive deeper!
Which distribution can you recommend? I always feel attracted to opensuse, Ubuntu myself but if something else is better I will try that on an older gaming pc
Pronouncing GOG as "gawg" and not "jee-oh-jee" was not somethin' I was ready for
Damn. Glad to hear many many influencers say they are seriously considering Linux as their main driver. It's wild how many people changed stance because Microsoft is fumbling the ball
Microsoft are absolutely fumbling the ball rn
Plus apple annouced AI on their OS, wait till you see the exodus from that
@@fernandolopez4895Exodus? I can't wait for LLM on Apple devices. That's big and doesn't happen every day or every year.
@@fernandolopez4895I dont see why. Its not like Apple is screen recording you screen every few seconds. Also most of the Siri recall features like „what was the content of the mail i wrote to lisa a few days ago?“ where present in prioir mac os version and just broke over time.
@@FanTheDeckcan someone explain to me how Microsoft is fumbling?
I've been using Linux for my work as software engineer for years now. The only alternative for me would be MacOS, Windows isn't even in consideration. All I need is for my OS not to get in the way of my work, and Linux is that for me.
All I want is that my os don't come in my way.
Can't even connect a Bluetooth headphone in linux os easily. (personal experience)
2% gang LETS GO!!!!
7% in Germany! :-)
4% world wide atm.
Let's goooo
If you were using PC to game 10 yrs ago the deck is the device we all dreamed of. Have had mine almost 2 yr and yeah hasn't failed me yet of course I baby my steam deck especially because I rushed to by the OG 512gb LCD deck and yeah 700 bucks definitely was an investment. I'll probably have to wait until steam deck 2 to get an OLED deck. But the demos on steam fest have been crazy.
Next Fest is soooooo good
Nice bro, so no hardware repairs for 2 years? I have had mine for 6 months and it feels sturdy af, but I am interested in how long can it last since I live in a country where it's hard to get parts
Shit I was dreaming of a device like this the moment I picked up the original game boy for the first time.
Can't wait till Linux becomes a series competitor to windows
I'd argue that it already is depending on what you do
So glad I replaced my old gaming PC for the Steam Deck, don't need anything else.
I did not expect the Halo MCC Splitscreen mod I helped out with development on to make an appearance on this video.
Thanks so much, Fan of the Deck.
My Lignux preferences now: KDE, vivid dark (global 6) theme and icons, vivaldi with forced dark pages, 4k x300, Montserrat 10 pt, all fonts, Solaar (for logitech mouse), Discover, Zotero, Marknote, LACT (AMD GPU) menu bar up, automatic, 60 px, floating, centered, filled, transparent.
I switch to XFCE and GNOME sometimes, using plugins or dock software, but since the Steam Deck uses KDE, and I had to use it when my PSU failed, I stayed with the same KDE layout in desktop / steam deck / old laptop.
This is what I want to see in the comments! The more bespoke the better lol. I have to search up most of these but I'm going to enjoy doing so. Marknote looks good! I've been using VS Code to edit markdown files for my notes and scripts and stuff.
My Linux preference currently is similar, but more frutiger-aero.
KDE Plasma 6, Oxygen Plasma theme, kvantum's default application style, WVista icons modified to fall back to Obsidian and GlowFreeze window borders.
This with a MacOS like top menubar and bottom dock and Fira Sans 10pt system wide.
I also use Solaar and Discorver, but use CoreCtrl for controlling the AMD GPU, along with input-remapper for changing the keyboard layout.
But I keep my Steam Deck on it's stock setting, as I want to experience those as-is and consider them part of the Deck experience.
Hah. My PC"s" are Windows, because that's the heart of x86 and IS "PC gaming". Good luck to my Linux cousins though.
@@fredsas12 X windows was previous to MS windows OS, and we are using Wayland now. EXTFAT and NTFS are worse than EXT4 for desktop use and much worse than XFS, BTRFS or ZFS for server use.
But as a gamer, the most important thing is that proton is faster than native directx, and native Vulkan or opengl games are even faster.
Unfortunately, there are not a lot AAA native Linux or POSIX version games, but as Mac OS is POSIX too, and together the amount of users is big enough, we will see soon enough native MS + Mac OS + Lignux AAA Vulkan games instead of dx / proton ones, that will enhance even more non MS OS PC performance.
KDE Neon here. Dark theme, Firefox, (Chrome for Netflix and Amazon Prime). Play mostly controller-friendly, local multi-player games with my daughters. Jellyfin for movies and shows. Slack for chat. Clementine foe music.
SteamOS coming to PCs could be perfect. Windows continues to shoot itself in the foot, adding more bloat and features that most users, particularly gamers, do not want. If your PC is just for gaming, it would be an excellent option - especially if there were marginal performance improvements on SteamOS, which seems possible
Yeah, I think it's insane that MS are fumbling this bad right now. But on the other hand, Linux is better than it's ever been so at least I have options.
due to microtransactions on Triple A games and most of them are messy bug release with lack of optimization, the Indie games are getting more attention now adays.
If you are an Indie developer, be proud and your future is bright.
One thing i loved about the Microsoft showcase was that it was trailer after trailer with commentary taking a backstep.
I'm running NixOS on both my laptop and desktop. For those not familiar, it basically makes linux declarative, so everything is defined in config files in one directory. It makes it super easy to go back to a previous version if you break something, and you can have a base config with slightlu different host settings depending on the machine.
How are you enjoying Bazzite on the Legion Go? I’ve installed it twice only to remove it, really torn if I want to keep it. I think the fact that I have a few games on the Windows side, and there’s no real “clean” way to switch between the two, has given me pause.
Been using Linux since the days of Mandrake Linux. I believe it ran KDE 3. Great to see Linux grow into what it is today. What an amazing journey it has been. And a testament to what a community can do.
I've dual booted for the longest time. Even ran Windows 10 for a while. But at one point it dawned on me that I rarely booted into Windows. And when I did, I had a huge list of updates to run before I could do anything. So I decided to reclaim the space.
Currently I have a fleet of two desktops, one AMD, one NVIDIA, two laptops and two Steam Decks, LCD and Oled. The Steam Decks are running SteamOS, the rest of them are running Fedora 40's KDE Plasma spin.
Latest thing I did was binding all my SSD's in one of my desktops together in a LVM, Logical Volume Manager, so I have one big volume to put my games on. It works amazingly well. And I can use this system to add and remove drives. For instance when I want to swap out a smaller drive for a bigger one.
Do you have a video on how you set up your control scheme for first person shooters? I'm curious to check that out
Not yet. I'll see if I can do that this weekend
Oh yea id like to see your stick flick advice with your sweep, been playing decompiled PD64 and it's been a blast but can't quite dial in what I want.
Thank you very much for recommending LOK Digital! :) (one of the devs here, author of the puzzle book)
Wait no way!!! Amazing work! I'm really looking forward to the full release. I've just added you on Twitter so feel free to keep in touch
@@FanTheDeck Much appreciated! :) Will keep in touch for sure once we release!
How about a little series on your switching-to-linux experience?
I can't find where to download alpha ring anywhere. Does anyone have a link? Source is missing in the description. I really want to pick the collection up while it's on sale
Even though I'm not the biggest fan of capacitive sticks (mostly because I sticks often), I do want to try capacitive tape for my dualsense as people (which includes the person who's still working on the gyro settings for steam input) has used it as a alpakka controller with it surrounding the face buttons or the back of the controller. Having gyro be active when one of my gameing-less fingers is being used is much more appealing to me than having to take away my gaming thumb from the face buttons (I mean that's how I use gyro on deck by using 1 of the back buttons to suppress it)
They need to put all the fables on the deck
I have switched Aurora-DX for my daily driver and Bazzite on my Steam Deck LCD. As soon as Bazzite is fully supported, I will use that on my Deck OLED.
I like the flexibility of universal blue images. They deliver images and updates like SteamOS, but easily allow installing packages layered onto the provided image, ship with container technology at the forefront, such as podman, distrobox, toolbox.
I use the KDE Plasma desktop and make a few modifications to size of panel, 24-hour clock, etc...
What do you think of the game Lone Fungus II? It has a currently accessible demo.
First thing I do when I do when i put linux on a new computer is install zsh and customize my terminal. I use it for everything, and I like it to look a certain way. Also, enable drop-down terminal. I mean so much more. That's just usually the first.
9:15 Similarly, I use my Steam Deck as the main controller for my PC.
Getting déjà vu here, I have commented this very thing on a video of yours before.
It helps to use the Steam Link Flatpak as a non-steam app, as this is significantly more reliable in successfully starting the connection.
Since I have also bought a second-hand Steam Controller, which I use more as a remote when using the Deck as a media console while in Desktop Mode.
The Deck's built-in controls are a step above the old Steam Controller and any other controller thanks to the incredible trackpads.
Gotta add Metal Slug Tactics to that list. Looks perfect for a portable.
I have run a lot of distros, but been running Garuda linux about a year now on my laptop and main gaming PC. I like the Zen Linux kernel, KDE Plasma, BTRFS file system with auto snapshots is really nice allowing a fast rollback if there is any issues. Took me a while to get used to Octopi instead of runing Yay/Pacman for installers (Not sure if i like Octopi as a frontend to pacman still). Seems very well maintained and stable. My last hand made Arch build self destructed when there was an issue with Boot being changed along time ago, so I didn't feel like a manual re-install, so just thought to try garuda dragonized edition, since I game alot. 99 percent of the games I own easily run on Linux no problem with proton, and/or bottles/wine.
People who say gaming doesn't work on linux are simply wrong, or don't play singleplayer games as much. Its just fine and plug and play in most cases. what they should be saying is that SOME multiplayer games that use anti-cheat don't work on linux. Anything that works in Steam Deck works in desktop Linux. Most games work out of the box just fine, with a proton layer. Yeah, i may have to use a tag like -useallavailablecores, or such things to skip intros, but its not that often that I do. I had to troubleshoot some games to run on windows years ago when I was on windows in the exact same fashion. Most issues I have when a game doesn't run is the resolution has an issue ( i run a very high resolution native), requiring me to figure out and force a resolution using gamescope, which is very awesome to get games to run at specific resolutions using flags.
People who have to to use Adobe products will not like Linux if they cant leave Adobe. You have to get away from that, and there is plenty of non-proprietary substitutes for the average person who doesn't absolutely need Adobe products. Just google Open Source alternative to "xxx."
Mind over Magnet just dropped a demo as well. I'm gonna be playing that tomorrow.
One thing I can't life without on the desktop is a tiling window manager. It automatically tiles every window (unless you configure specific windows not to tile) into a dynamically tiled grid. Instead of minimizing and stacking windows on top of each other, you switch to different virtual desktops. Fullscreen still works, important for videos and games. Game launchers are a bit buggy sometimes. Also, they usually need a bit of configuration to work the way you want and extra applications like App launchers, panels, etc.
Hyprland is a good one for trying it out. Fancy, well documented, easy to configure, frequent updates...
I love the look of TLMs. I watched a bunch of videos on TLMs + tmux + neovim + alacritti and I think I got overwhelmed by all the configs so I ended up testing omakub which is a 1 line script that does a very opinionated set of configurations. I suspect the Linux faithful would not recommend it but I think it worked as a way to get more invested in the different things I could configure myself.
@@FanTheDeckNah, I'd say Linux faithful just means that you prefer to use linux, and maybe that you prefer to stick to FOSS software if possible. Just use your system however it works best for you! So it's great that you already experiment!
Omakub seems like a nice way to get your feet wet with customizing. But a word of caution: It seems to use gnome as a base and extend it with plugins. Plugins often break on new gnome releases, so there might be some temporary breakage when upgrading the distro.
Finally someone answers the cutscenes work thanks mate
You can easily play the Deck connected to a larger screen with a long enough cord coming from your HDMI to USB-C dock. No streaming of any sort required.
I really enjoyed the demo of mirthwood; went straight to my wish list. Comments did say it’s not running great on deck yet; devs said it’s not gone into optimisation stage yet.
my issue trying to content create with davinci on linux is getting MP4s to work..... im missing a step somewhere. other than editing ive been able to tinker my way around pretty well.
On a new linux build, i'll setup lutris and/or heroic and install Rocket League first.
Curious, What are capacitive sticks?
What does the steam deck have that using a ps5 controller doesn’t?
Basically touch-aware analog sticks. So the Steam Deck knows when your thumb is on the analog stick. I use this to make sure that gyro is only enabled when my thumbs are on the sticks. This makes it easy to adjust my hands and positioning without moving the character.
@@FanTheDeck It’s also useful when you’d like to configure one of your analog sticks to control a radial menu. The Steam Deck needs to know if you actually released the stick (or if you just moved it back to the center) to know if it should trigger the action in the radial menu, and it does so using its capacitive surface.
I've tested the latest LSFG with the Deck and it works really well. Hopefully Valve adds the frame generation function to the steamdeckOS
Adding Nix and Brew opened up a LOT of possibilities for the steam deck as a PC for me
Plus changing theme made it easier to work and honestly nicer to look at
I really liked the xbox showcase, the new Perfect Dark looks like it could have a lot of potential!
So I have to recommend the prologue/demo to The Big Catch: Tacklebox.
The demo prologue alone is already my goty.
What insane praise for Tacklebox. That's awesome!
I appreciate your knowledge on so many indie games
The first thing i always install on all my linux instance with a desktop gui is yakuake (on kde) or guake (on gnome) amazing console that rolled out when you press f12 (or whatever shortcut you want)
that's awesome
FIX: Remote play works very well in desktop mode. I typically just use bug picture mode on desktop mode (press steam button twice) steam linking to my pc for OBS. Works phenomenally.
Honestly, I had a few growing pains with Linux, but had a decent amount of command line experience with DOS back in the day, and some Unix experience in college, so it wasn’t completely foreign. I have been using my Steam Deck as my primary PC on the go. It has completely replaced my Alienware laptop in that regard. I’m also using it in docked mode as my primary desktop as well. Honestly, it is so much more stable than my windows laptop. I’m can easily see a future where I leave Windows behind.
When a wanna play in big screen with the deck controller I just use a 3 meters long USB cable extension
??? Like attached to a controller or to a Deck as a controller? I'm confused lol
@@FanTheDeckattached do the steam dock.
So, the dock USB cable conects to the extension that connects to the steam deck.
Works perfect with a good quality cable.
@@lucianogiacon8506 Oh snap! I see what you mean now!!! That's a smart idea 🤯🤯
I transitioned to Linux 100% for work and personal about a year ago (before that dual booted). Arch with Hyprland for the last 4 months, once you jump to a window manager vs a desktop environment, its hard to go back, especially when you get everything configured the way you want.
Can you get info on steam deck oled windows drivers?
I've had Linux as my laptop OS since I got my Framework last year. But I tried using Linux as my main OS on my PC, and despite all the advances, Linux isn't quite there yet.
Yes, it was Arch, but the issues I was having wasn't to do with setting it up or using it. Arch itself ran amazing, it was the other software running on top of it. Was having weird issues with discord, it didn't even let me screen share, and random slowdown necessitating reboots. Even when I got gaming working, some games behaved very erratically, so I swapped back to my Windows for now.
For non-gaming tasks, Linux is amazing. But other than the black magic that SteamOS does, I don't think Linux is "quite there" yet. Soon though, and I won't give up on swapping. I just do networking and troubleshooting as my job, and the last thing I want with my PC is to troubleshoot why my game's UI isn't lining up for some reason.
I’m on the fence with getting the rog ally X but I don’t want to get multiple handhelds. Hope the steam deck 2 is a nice jump in performance
Linux is daunting at first, but you'll be fine, dude. Take it a bite at a time, and you'll be amazed by how quickly you can transfer lessons learned from one project/setup to the next. Rec 1 > As you start to play with different distros &/or competing projects, I'd recommend you lurk in some of the corresponding support sites; how the community does (or does not) support newcomers can be starkly different - and especially when you're on that steep part of the learning curve, that might influence early choices. Rec 2 > If you can swing the spare parts &/or cost, some people really benefit from having linux rig as a full second machine. That way, you have a fall back Windows/Mac/ChromeOS, and the nervousness to fiddle with the linux box can really dissolve (for some people). Good luck on the journey!
My experience on your first point was that my POV on the communities around projects changed over time, probably more than the communities themselves. Specifically, Arch for sure scared me away at first, but years into my time with Linux, I had a different view of that same community.
Yeah, that idea makes sense for sure. I think the general concept still holds; if someone lurks in those support spaces, you'll probably click with some of those communities more than others - especially when you're still earlier in your journey. And, fair point on Arch specifically; I love that distro, but probably something Rich can ignore for a few years, unless he is one of those "I always chose the wrench" personalities. :)
3:09 "..Davinci Resolve, which is incredibly Linux friendly"
Screams in aac support hell, vram usage, and installing on literally any OS except centos(not used by most people).
I'm an opensuse guy, but most of these OSes are the same. My other Linux preferences are very standard (corecntrl is really the only notable app I use for hardware stuff). I used to play with rofi for an emoji selector, because I found a cute pikachu style one, but then I ditched it because it wasn't the smoothest experience on a desktop :p I use alacritty (it has transparency) for a terminal, and have neovim for code, with a toggle between transparency and non transparency, which is super nice sometimes.
I'm also a Gnome user, but sometimes I feel like I wanna ditch ship for KDE or something else since gnome's design values are not always aligned with what I want out of my DE.
I'm curious with Ghost of Tsushima, how much missing the Legends mode hurt its sales on the steam deck. I know a couple of people, myself included, that have skipped purchasing it because it was missing the Legends mode. I've already played the campaign not that long ago, the game isn't exactly old, so the main reason for me to pick it up at launch rather than wait for a sale was the coop.
My recommendation for a demo is Glyde the Dragon. A pretty game in the spirit of the Spryo the Dragon series. The demo runs about 8-10 hours. I am about 2 hours in on my laptop. I am trying it on the Deck right now (saves are not cloud saved) and it runs great though a cutscene didn't play at the start and I had to skip it. No matter, though. Just gave a little bit of back story which wasn't all that important with this demo.
Im absolutely going to try their os on my pc, windows is doing some shading things
ROG Ally still has the microSD-bricking issue due to design flaws in heat dissipation.
I really wish you listed the games and the link in your descriptions
Games are named on screen
@@FanTheDeck and I have to pause and do my thing, if you won't or can't I can see some people going to other feeds and streams, if I am watching away from my main rig I completely miss wish-listing a game just because it is too much like work, to be honest, your seconds of work would help hours of us not having to do searches and clicking
Bazzite -Deck has been my daily driver for the past few months since I've built my pc, and I really haven't had to use Windows at all outside maybe one or two unique use cases

In order to fix the Steam Deck crash, you'll need to go on the Preview version of the Steam Deck, connect and launch Steam Link, go back to the normal version and it should work just fine.
Love the keycaps! Just finished a full-stack bootcamp so these would be amazing :) also love the podcast guys!
What did it win?
I'm using linux since 23 years, and I feel qualified to say that it's ready for regular people. Pick a stable distro, use flatpaks on top and voilà.
Not for work if you need any Adobe products, or any VPNs not available on Linux. Lots of software not ready yet :(((
If I switch to Linux I need photoshop I don’t care what I have to do about it can I transfer an install from windows to Linux? Would that work? It doesn’t have to run good
Hmmmm. Michael horn has a video on that, I think? The conclusion for photoshop was that creative cloud’s installer messes things up, but if you can copy / paste the installed version from windows into Linux into Bottles, which is on Flathub, then you should be able to get it working. I would recommend watching the video as this is simplifying the explanation a lot. I think there might be a web app version of photoshop too, but that might have less features. Sorry don’t know too much I use GIMP.
There are ways to run photoshop in linux yes
I do all my stuff using Linux. Cinelerra and Resolve for video editing. Steam Deck for Gaming (both desktop and console mode). But I'm a Linux user for a long time and it's easy for me. I guess for Windows users, they can try and maybe they will get why Linux is so popular.
If you turn off video in Steam link then the host deck will never crash. It's something about streaming video that crashes Steam on Linux
I'm a linux pro so no lack of knowledge there... however for linux to be truly viable, companies like Activions/Blizzard, Ubi and EA and of course Microsoft/XBOX have to have native launchers that are compatible with the OS. People have to just be able to install software without fiddling with setups for it to be viable as more than a curiosity.
I would argue that people need to just live without those companies.
I'm constantly hearing about all of those companies doing something horrific, illegal, greedy, or just plain evil, so just stop giving them your time.
@@bokrugthewaterserpent3012 It's a nice wish, but it will never ever happen...
Have been using the SD as my only gaming device since I got it. Steam OS is amazing, but I'm considering switching to the ROG Ally X due to the lack of a proper Steam Deck controller

Thank you for talking up Selaco in recent Nerd Nests. It got me curious, I bought it and HO. LEE. CRAP. Top 3 shooters of the past 10 years for me
Linux became my daily driver because of the Windows 11 system requirements and the forced use of secure boot and TPM. I use to be complacent with Windows because its familiar until those issues came up and I realized that nothing would get better if I didn't do something about it. Like you, I already had exposure to Linux before (and have always been quite fond of it) but Valve is largely responsible for making the transition easier for me since I didn't have to give up my Steam library.
12:55 I just didn't understand, 200 megabytes for 1 game or for all games of 1 account. And how do you even find out how many megabytes cloud save takes?
It's per game. Idk if GOG has a tool for checking the size, but you can always check how big the local save is.
The GoG cloud save change is frustrating. I own one game on GoG (cyberpunk) and I had to delete hundreds of auto saves. I’m so glad I own most games on steam. I can’t imagine having to do this for dozens of games.
I’m overwhelmed with literally over 100 of my wishlisted games having a playable demo. Choice paralysis
Can you find out if the steam deck will ever officially release in Australia 🇦🇺???
As an IT tech I’m not surprised considering how annoying it is getting to deal with Windows and their unwanted garbage forced into our computers and the only way to get rid of this unwanted garbage is by using third party software. Been doing Microsoft networking for 10+ years now and recently my boss told me to start looking into switching to Linux OS on all the systems we have and I’m back into taking Linux courses lol and so far I’m highly impressed at the amount of BS I don’t have to deal with anymore.
I did buy a legion go mainly for the large screen but I’m about to return it, had it for one week and not a single day goes by without me having to fix something, be it windows updates breaking drivers, or drivers not updating correctly or other issues, while I can fix those easily but last thing I need on my free time is to troubleshoot when I just spent 8 hours at my job fixing PC and network related issues.
Desperately hoping we get a Steam Deck 2 by the time Expedition 33 releases. That was definitely my game of show.
Steam deck changed how i game. I can now sit outside and play anytime, anywhere. Linux is only a factor if you want it to be, you can just play in steamos or you can dive into desktop only of you like. Highly recommend
Don't forget to check out the demo for wild bastards :)
I know this might be stupid and small but my eureka moment that made me switch to Linux full time was ctl+alt+t
So, is game compatibility getting better on Linux?
The Alters is my favorite Demo so far
I also use Steam Deck for gaming and love it. Does anybody know an alternative for Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop in Linux since this is the main reason for me using Windows on my Desktop PC?
The first things I do is install my Linux root on a BTRFS partition and then setup Timeshift. The second thing I do is set KDE Plasma’s dark theme and install Candy Icons. Candy Icons are the best!
Last moon and immortal hunters i highly recommend
Great video 😊
What was the steamdeck's big win?
I switched fully to Linux on Endeavouros and it's worth it! I only have Windows for 2 games now and any other tasks that require Windows, but otherwise I use linux for everything now and once you get used to it, it's so much simpler and more efficient than Windows
The biblical reference was powerful
6:28 derek yu!
he made eternal daughter, i love this game
One word - ricing
If I could get the steamdeck with Rog specs
You and Bill should check out 2024 OTK Games Expo there were many good indie games shown.
You wish, legion go still is updating their things and runs smoother than every other one out there
I always believed Steam Deck could start a revolution that would make Linux a more mainstream option for desktop OS.
