    Wow! How clever is this? I've been looking for a technique like this, to keep my stockinette flat for the past year or so, and just happened to stumble on this tutorial. Thanks so much. I've saved it and have subscribed, as well. Great find)

    I am also not happy with MRI. The last time they did an MRI for me, it was a brain scan and they stuffed me head-first into the tube so far that my shoulders were curled forward. It was quite painful and I'm claustrophobic, so not nice. But I can say that meditation did help me cope with the experience. I use Headspace at home and find it very helpful.... Hope your back pain is sorted very soon! And thank you, once again, for a very useful video!

    This is wonderful. I discovered something similar while creating something similar I call a "Fisherman's Stockinette" a year or so ago. I started with Fisherman's Rib, learned how to do the special bits for purl as well as knit, and combined them. Your approach here is simpler (which I love!) because there's no knit-one-below stuff. I really appreciate your sharing.
    I do have one question, based on my own experimentation -- have you tried to "tink" this? I found that these double-thick fabrics are MUCH harder to ladder down and repair when the pesky dropped stitch is found six or seven rows down. They're even hard to unravel altogether and get back on the needle correctly. I would welcome any guidance you have about this.
    One more time, though -- thank you so much for sharing this cool technique.

    I'm looking for an alternative to ribbing on the Hem of a top-down stocking its sweater. Would this work? Seems like it shouldn't be too hard to convert to in the round.

    • @sowoolly

      Hello! I haven’t tried it yet, but I think it would work like a double hem (similar to this one: th-cam.com/video/8fBivdt88Rw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=alYr0YG9QsH7zVb8 ).

    Hiya - I am thinking of making myself some draining board mats and wonder if you think this would be suitable as a large piece, still laying flat; perhaps 14" x 18"? I would use a cotton yarn of course. ThanX

    • @sowoolly
      @sowoolly  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! I think it’ll work, but I’d prefer if you knit a swatch first, using the same needle size and cotton yarn. My swatch was made out of 100% cotton (worsted weight), and 5 mm (US 8) needles, and it was pretty firm, flat, and thick 😉

    Thanks for sharing! I’m new to knitting. Is this okay to do with any cast on method, or is there a preferred one for this stitch? Thank you. I find it hard to follow your cast on here as it’s a bit fast for me. Is it a longtail cast on?

    • @sowoolly
      @sowoolly  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      My pleasure! Yes, it’s the long tail cast-on, and yes, you can use any other method. If it’s too fast, you can play the video in slow motion (set up your settings) 😉 Happy knitting!

    • @sowoolly
      @sowoolly  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No worries, this is my favorite cast-on method. It’s called “long tail”. I don’t have a specific video, but you can play that part of any of my videos in slow motion, and you’ll learn it quickly 😉 Happy knitting 🧶

    I am currently working on a scarf with this pattern and now that i've made many rows, i noticed that one of my side edges looks messy/loose while the other side edge is pretty neat. Can someone please tell me where did it possibly go wrong? Should i unravel my whole work or is it something that can be fixed ?

    • @zaynab3890
      @zaynab3890 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Should I finish all my first rows (ws) purling the last stitch from the back? ( i did it just for the very first row of my work). Can it be the reason why one of my side edges is looking weird?

    • @tasmeenhussain
      @tasmeenhussain 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@zaynab3890 Hi I figured it out. I added 2 extra stitches to the odd number of stitches required for this pattern, and then on every row slip the 1st stitch purl wise and knit the last stich. On the WS purl the 2nd last stitch.

    Making the fabric very thick often defeats the purpose of the jersey/stockinette stitch. Do you know a way to combat curl in a normal-weight stockinette?

  • @Miscli21

    Mine looks good I’m making a small blanket... but it’s like a pillow case inside of it lol inside is hollow. It lays flat and looks just like both sides you have done purl on one side and knit on other, it’s got a full thickness the purl side isn’t connected to the knit side inside of it lol 😆 so it’s almost like a pillow case. I’m left handed hmmmm

    .but if you give a proper counts of stich es I can follow I feel it's a bit fast .if you go a little slower I could follow you I need to learn a bonet (cap) for winter.

      you can always hit the gear icon and choose a lesser speed, like 75%, her voice will sound slower and the video will run slower; sometimes when I want to skip ahead to a part I choose the speed 1.5 or if the person talks very slowly, to get on with it so to speak.
