@@devilhaque C'mon, I'm a guy and I came here especially to hear Nat's version of this great Hoagy Carmichael tune. We're out here, but you want the guy that's aggressive. He's not coming here!! He probably never heard of this song. Leave me a message and I'll get back to you! lol
Why can’t we have artists like this today? From that smile, voice, appearance…. I would have suffered through world wars to have lived when this music was at its prime.
Lyrics It's not the pale moon that excites me That thrills and delights me Oh no It's just the nearness of you It isn't your sweet conversation That brings this sensation Oh no It's just the nearness of you When you're in my arms And I feel you so close to me All my wildest dreams Came true I need no soft lights to enchant me If you would only grant me the right To hold you ever so tight And to feel in the night the nearness of you
I don't know where do you get all these beautiful songs from it is songs really always thought iwill never hèar again thanks to you sent to my friends they all love it you so awesome
For always and forever the very best. I will never tire of listening to him. My number one for 7o years. Thank you Nat and thanks to everyone that still keeps his flame alive. 🔥
This version, then Norah Jones, then the Frank Sinatra version are my favorites. Everyone else just sang it but they really make you feel the words. No one my age wants to listen with me😔
No. Ella Fitzgerald then this one, Nora jones is cool but she doesn’t have the sound to envelops you and takes you on a ride in the midst of the midnight clouds on a cool night
@@navyforeveryoungjean-phili5940 Point taken… HOWEVER… Norah sings it with so effortlessly with a certain grace that current singers often lack. Each version is beautiful but I stand with my top 3.
I watched Hoagy Carmichael play this song on the movie To Have and Have Not. Lauren Bacall as beautiful as she was fell short of the beauty of this song, The Nearness of You.
Very classy singer with an unmistakable soft huskiness to his voice. I've read that Cole cultivated that huskiness by chain smoking cigarrettes before singing. If so, that's too bad, as he died of cancer way too early.
SO MANY COPIED HIM , SINGERS FROM SINATRA TO TONY BENETT BUT CANT COMPARE TO THE SHEER QUALITY OF THIS MAN VOICE, MUSIC AND MUSICIANSHIP. IN COMPARABLE
Copied him. No voice better in the romantic repertoire. But Sinatra (a balladeer after Crosby) and Bennett (a hipper take alongside Tormé and Sammy Davis Jr.) enjoyed quite different vocalizing and styles.
His life was too short, but his music will live forever.
There are a million reasons why he was the "King" and each of them was the same - he could sing anything and make it shimmer.
This sound beats anything we hear today, in my opinion
I wish men had the balls to sing songs like this in 2023. I can only dream!
And dress as good , we can both dream... Society went downhill

Because they worship Satan. They hate goodness. They love sex and violence. They create it.
Listen to Norah jones cover of this!!
It wouldn’t be the same if someone was like this in this time….would be fake, everything we have from then should just be cherished now
Listen to Laufey's cover of this
It's heavenly
Why can't we have ANY nice things anymore...
my boyfriend just sent this to me and my heart is so happy
Lyrics
It's not the pale moon that excites me
That thrills and delights me
Oh no
It's just the nearness of you
It isn't your sweet conversation
That brings this sensation
Oh no
It's just the nearness of you
When you're in my arms
And I feel you so close to me
All my wildest dreams
Came true
I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you would only grant me the right
To hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night the nearness of you
Supreme stylist...word for word; vowel for vowel...
He was such a great talent. Such a smooth style. Sadly underrated.
Really? Was Mr Cole really underrated back in the day? I thought he would've been among the top singers back then.
Perhaps I should say held back. His show was cancelled and he was attacked on stage.
Of all the big singers late 40s-60s, Nat Cole had the velvet tone AND was a top shelf piano artist as well; top that Frank, Dean, Tony, et al...
Not another voice like his. Always blows me away and always missed
Still the king

Indeed he was a great piano player also.
