SOLAR ENERGY BEACH HOUSE - No More Electric Bills In The Philippines (100% OFF GRID)

  • WE ARE OFFICIALLY 100% OFF GRID!!! WE HAVE A SOLAR ENERGY BEACH HOUSE IN THE PHILIPPINES!
What a cool feeling. I always say "Power On", and in this case... that is literally happening! We have finished our solar system here in Cateel Davao Oriental, and have connected to it. In this video we take a closer look at the setup and talk with professionals about it. Then, we head off for a little coastal surf and chill, and end up back at home checking up on our system at night.
Solar Energy.... It is eco friendly, and definitely the way of the future! Solar is becoming way more affordable and available in the Philippines... and we are stoked to have it!!
    Power On!!!
    LITERALLY!!

Hi Kyle, I run totally solar off grid in the forest in Australia. Here is a couple of tips that I've learned. Having a larger system is good because you can run power tools or appliances like a freezer without completely draining your batteries. When you have extended cloudy days like in wet season the less power you use the more your batteries will hold up. If you continuously drain your batteries the die very quickly. Cleaning them after wet season is a very good idea as during the wet season they get coated in a green type slime substance. When they are coated they can't draw in much power. I clean mine once a year. Good decision to get complete solar. I've been living off mine for 15 years and have never regretted it for one second.

    • @wannyfairy7993
      @wannyfairy7993 3 ปีที่แล้ว +21

@@at-iba-pamikem1739 I've used a variety of batteries here. In the early days I used 12 volt lead acid. I then upgraded to 12 volt gel sealed batteries and now I'm about to upgrade again to lithium. I upgrade batteries and panels everytime I upgrade my system to a larger size. I'm about to have a 3 kilowatt system installed hence the new lithium batteries to go with it. I've been successfully running on a 1 kilowatt system for about 7 years on gel sealed batteries.

@@jeremydolot2083 I'm sorry I can't really say as I don't know how much other countries charge for thier batteries or complete solar system or cost of installation. What I would say is in your country ring or email around and get quotes for a complete 5 kilowatt system installed.

My father did something similar with a water wheel by channeling a stream through a waterwheel in Malita, Davao during the 1950’s. He was originally from Virginia. It provided power to the meat house, and the plantation. Water from the stream was also piped in providing fresh clean water to the house. I think the house which was built by Orville Wood, an American, around 1910 is still there.

Cost Break Down According to Market Price:
    Solar Panel - 5000 x Php16per watt = Php80,000
    Inverter - Voltronic 5.5e = Php85,000
    Battery 200AH - 8 x Php11,800 = Php94,400
    accesories/structure - Php45,000
    Labor 45% Total Cost - Php136,800
    mobilize - Php15,000
    Total Cost - Php 455,800
say, project cost 500k, 10% tolerance.
NPP Lead Acid battery had only 500 lifecyle with only 50% of its capacity is usable.
    8 x 200AH, 48V = 9.6kWhr @ 50%rate
Lithium base battery is 5000 lifecycle with 95% of its capacity is usable.
    1 lifecycle = 1full discharge +1 full charge.

Your beach house is down the coast from my wife's cousin up near San Francisco, Agusan del Sur and I admire his lifestyle from his facebook posts. Pretty good Kulas, self sufficient off grid way to go. We are also using off grid solar energy in sunny Queensland. We enjoyed not paying bills at all. Enjoy free power from the sun.

Solar power is the best and so glad to see you set up your system. Please be aware that there is some maintenance to do and monitoring as well. For example: once in a while you may wipe down the solar panels to remove dirt mold and algae build up. Battery and wire connections will corrode in salty sea side locations (keep dry, check regularly and clean or replace connections). Some batteries need to be checked and refilled with water as it evaporates several times a year (use battery water not tap water cause of mineral content). Yes solar power systems are low maintenance, but they are not no maintenance! The worst problem that happens to these systems is from neglect of regular cleaning checking and maintenance. All the best!

Green Energy for the win! Definitely contacting them soon. I want to use Solar energy at my property in Cotabato. But here in Davao City, I've already been using solar lights for my home since last year.
