Let's get real. This is a lengthy conversation that I think needs to be heard by photographers of every genre and every skill level. Yes, we all probably like looking and trying out new cameras but the question we always as is "does it really matter?" Well the answer is not as simple as most of us have hoped.

in my opinion, the type of gear will matter when you have already mastered the basics. If you are able to compose good materials, using your current gear, then probably it's time to look into what type of photography you want to focus on and what gears would help you create better output.

For me it depends on the type of photography, If you shoot sports or wildlife a top of the line camera model from canon sony nikon etc married to a telephoto lens will do the job as oppose to someone who shoots portraits or landscapes,, and it is also different from someone who just started photography and wants cheaper camera and lenses .And of course it will also depend on the amount of money you are willing to spend.
