You are correct that bushhog was the first rotary cutter on the market. I live only about 25 miles from where they're built in Selma AL. We've been running a 2615 Legend for around 20 years now. Great cutters for sure!!

Watching brush hogging is so strangely satisfying. Looks like that implement could double as a road grader.

I’ve seen a 7’ Bush Hog brand load a 6310 John Deere so you’ve probably got plenty of mower for that tractor. The county road dept here has several batwing mowers and they are running 100 plus HP tractors on them for mowing highway ditches.

If you want to get a well built 12’ flex wing mower you should look at the Bush Wacker MD144. All the other 12’ flex wing mowers are light built and don’t come close to the MD144. It has the heaviest drive lines, gear boxes, stump jumpers, and skid shoes. They have a comparison chart on their website and there is no comparison. It even has a swivel hitch. Same size 4” X 1/2” blades as the 15’ flex wing mowers everyone uses. 3/8” skid shoes. They call it a medium duty mower but to me it’s a heavy duty mower.

Hey Tim, I haven't seen you do anything with the road grader for a year or more now. I thought we might see it sitting around with the other equipment on your family's land but it wasn't there. Did y'all find a new home for it and if you still have it, would it help any with the roads you are fixing?
I like the way you bush hog, I can't stand to have stuff rubbing the sides of my truck if I need to drive down my lanes.

Near a carbon copy of what I've been doing these days.. brush hogging much the same way with nearly the same rigging.
Have to hold off doing the woods trails until September due to the brush hog spreading the tiny seeds of the garlic mustard invasive weed.

Hey Tim, you've said a few times that you can't cut trees if the mills aren't taking wood... Why is that? Is it because of moisture loss? Otherwise, I would think it would be good to get the trees on the ground and get ahead?
Great video on some real bushhoggin'... I've been doing a lot of that myself here lately. I'm running a 5' Rhino SE5 on my 35hp tractor. That Rakemaster looks like the cat's meow, but I don't have any kind of QA system on my loader, or the extra hydraulics to run it. But I still get by, just a little slower, LOL.
Great video today, you and yours stay blessed!!

It’s one of those things where you’re already at a loss and if you run the machines, you just go further in the hole. We only get paid when a truck crosses the scales at the mill. If we cut on a Friday and didn’t haul that wood till Monday or Tuesday, it will loose so much weight also and you run the risk that the mill still might not be taking.

just love listening to a brush hog eat. I don't care for the job of backing into the stuff on the sides of trails like you did. Has to be done. just not my favorite job. I love that I do it the same way... I must be doing something right.
