Once I had a pair of these dogs, I called them Bachus and Diva. They were sooo cozy, stubborn but gentle. I loved them so much. They were absolutelly my besties!
From 1800-1999 this was one of the most hated/fear dog in the world on the same level as the st Bernard and other dogs they were so fear that in 1886 the state of Massachusetts ban them alongside the German mastiff aka great Dane and the Cuban mastiff also known as the Cuban bloodhound plus any dog that would even resemble that breed in a 10 state area so I assumeing that it happened in the us from 1855-1910 there was at least 38 severe or fatal attacks by these dogs in the 1880s there was 11-18 cases of serious or fatal attacks by this breed and the southern bloodhound I was able to find at least 101 cases of people and other animals being bit maul or kill by the "bloodhounds" or bloodhound type dogs from the 1820s-1953 in the 1800s the word bloodhound was used to describe the English bloodhound which we all know the Texas bloodhound which is extinct since the 1940s bloodhound mixes and mutts that were label as "bloodhounds" and to some extent would have included another dog breed that extinct since the 40s call the Siberian bloodhound aka the Russian bloodhound
Being that they didn't show up here until the 1880s and were recognize until 1885 shows that they don't want to be associated with slavery and in 1925 or 1926 there was a Lost film where bloodhound type dogs are portray as bad while the German shepherd is shown as good
