The Shoulder Wound is seldom acknowledged. The young Wojtyla was said to have asked Padre Pio what the most painful wound was. He replied it was the shoulder wound left untreated.
Pious legend attests St Bernard of Clairvaux was supposed to have received the same revelation from our Lord. More recently, forensic evidence from the Shroud of Turin revealed a deep laceration and dislocation on one of the shoulders.
