William did not deserve Monica. Even if she plotted to be with him, William’s life and career improved dramatically when she got with him. His firm didn’t take him seriously and his relationship with the friend group was holding him back.

Toni didn't hate Monica. She even enjoyed Monica during the pool interaction and didn't really care about her afterwards.
I was thinking the same thing. Joan was the one that seemed to wish she were more assertive like Monica.

Right! She made the rookie mistake of assuming that because Todd was a doctor that he was automatically rich, when the real tea is that unless they COME from money, young doctors are BRRRRRROKE! 😂 They average about half a million in student loans upon graduation without specialization.

When we got the more relaxed, silly Monica I fell in love with her character. She was a good fit for the show in its twilight years.
Monica was ACTUALLY bougie. Toni was just uppity. Monica was the REAL thing. As much as I love Toni, she was a wannabe.

I had to get it out of my mind that Monica was not a replacement for Toni.
Once I did, I grew to love her!
William was a CLOWN for how he treated her.
I always got 1% vibes from Monica from generational wealth based and the one episode that her family dynamic was briefly shown. Her mother seemed off the hook. Her singing "It's my turn" lmao. It was refreshing to see an "old money" optic of unambiguous DSBW. If Toni evolved into new level, I felt like Monica would be well established in that level.

@@stacyr4768 but she was mad at William, not Monica. In season 6 she was the last person to welcome Monica as a friend (even after Lynn) and when Joan asked why she couldn’t come up with a reason. Monica also noted that she never had a problem with Mya.
Much respect to Monica bc she is who she is. Toni wishes she was her for sure. Toni saw Dr and thought rich while Monica saw lawyer and made sure he was established

Loved Monica, though Toni was an integral part of the show and it wasn’t the same when she left, despite her and Monica’s similarities. Also, I don’t think Toni hated Monica, like stated towards the end of the video, i believe there was a mutual respect for one another. Especially after that statement “You might wanna get your resume together,” from Monica to Joan. Toni’s response cracks me up every time.
Fun Fact: Keesha Sharp (Monica) was a virgin until marriage, smart woman.
Monica had her own money and did not need William's money. She was trying to assist him in what he said was his goal. He did not deserve her.

Toni was always about her 💰🤑 but unfortunately overlooked it with Todd. Monica always ALWAYS had a certain end game that was non negotiable. I still didn't care for the character too much but I understood the assignment later as I got older. As a woman her thirties with degrees ,home ownership and such...I get it.

Also worth pointing out is that all of the girlfriends had weird relationships with their moms even Maya who was actually close to hers. It’s probably what they all had most in common.

Monica showed real growth than toni still had a selfishness in her when Joan was finally shining tonight wanted Joan to still sacrifice herself for her evening during her custody battle, monica still stood by her man where toni didnt

Monica was the PERFECT addition and later replacement of one of the girlfriends. She was a waaaaaaay better friend than Toni.... She fit better into the friend group

I love Keesha Sharp and I actually really like Monica and I hated how they treated her long after their initial reservations. Till this day, Lynn’s hatred for Monica is a mystery to me. Like the Ik the initial reason was just bc Joan didn’t like her and they all agreed with her but…Lynn still hated her long after Joan started becoming friends with her. I honestly wished we could’ve seen her and Toni get along bc they were so alike and I could see a great relationship between them sorta like a Cher and Dionne or Monet and Luna from Gossip Girl 2021. Also, everytime I look at her, I see Halle Bailey in the face
Only thing I can think is Lynn knew Monica was a hindrance in Lynn using William.
Lynn hated Monica because Monica was the opposite of her.
Fair points and I’ll accept them, however I still believe their treatment towards Monica especially Lynn’s is childish and unnecessary especially considering they’re their thirties with families and careers of their own..it honestly makes me like them less with each rewatch, tho I still like them but significantly less than my first rewatch

She tried to mess up her living situation telling William to get Lynn out of his house but calling her out of her name. I'm sure she was offended but her ass needed to stop using people anyways. 😂 I hated that for her especially because she was wasting a boat load of degrees.
