    Nagy örömömre szolgál kijelenteni, hogy a budapesti metrót nem lehet a new yorkival összetéveszteni. Ragyogóan csillogó csúcstechnológia, patikatisztaság, nyugodt, jól öltözött emberek. Csak így tovább! Hajrá Magyarország! I'm pleased to say, that the underground railway in Budapest, cannot be mistaken with the New York subway. High level of cleanliness combined with high technology calm and well dressed people. Need I say more?

    Very cool that you can go to the front and watch the tunnel, and the station from the "drivers view"

    This metro is so clean and modern, I love it.
    Dear New York, this is what a metro/subway looks like. It should not look like a sewer with a platform.

      true, but there is always modernisation as an option. All they need to do is clean the stations up and redecorate, so they don't look like crack dens.

      mitch832 how about that our oldest subway line is more older than the nyc subway line and it’s clean and maintented most of platforms have been restored so they look like in 1896. Search on it... Budapest Millenium subway line M1. Thank you.

      Ive been in NYC in 2016, i was a bit surprised about how the subways looks there (in a bad way except a few stations) but we should also consider that there are 26 lines (quick wikipedia) in NY and only 4 in Budapest and this one is the newest. I guess its harder to maintain, clean and upgrade that many long lines.

    My leg is not strong enough to keep walking more than few minutes. But, I need to transfer from M1 to M2 and M3 in Deák Ferenc tér Budapest. Does it require a lot of walking or climb up/down from M1 to M2 and from M1 to M3? Your input is very appreciated. Thanks.

      There are no escalators when going to M1, but the stations on that line are very close to the surface anyway.

      At Deak, there are escalators between M2 & M3 , but M1 does not have any

      Old comment but the answer is that the route is too short, it is 6.5 km long, as it is only the first section the last 3 weren't built nor is planed to build, the whole length is somewhere above 12 km. It lacks transfer points with tram line number 1 and 3 (both of them are high capacity lines) on the north side, and 2 stations on the south (mostly residential area and bus transfer points). It was projected to not meet the expected numbers (474.000/weekday) , but by January this year it was reported that the line is over capacity and additional trains are required (from 2014 - 100.000 daily passenger to 2019 - 190.000 dp.).

      CBTC dinamikus közlekedési rendben, a zöld-fehér jelzés jelentése "Menetengedély-határ a jelző mögött", tehát hogy a CBTC által számított menetengedély vége a jelző mögött (valahol) helyezkedik el, azaz a jelző meghaladható. Normál közlekedési rendben pedig kétes jelzésként értelmezendő.

      @vartal: Ive googled what you've said. In the beginning there was a driver in the metro but later when they saw its working well automatically they demolished the cabin. Still it didnt really worth to build those lights.

      Yes, no driver cabs on these trains anymore, just a console for low-speed emergency use if the autonomous systems go down. You can just walk up straight to the front window.

      Sadly its very slow because the system which controlls the metros are programmed to be very spary regarding to consuming electricity. Because of this the metro doesnt accelerate fast. And in longer stations it reaches vmax(80km/h) then just the the train run by itself. If it would enable faster acceleration and more dynamic way of speed. The time it would take to go keleti - kelenföld would only take like 10-12 minutes.

      Nope, the trains actually never accelerate to 80 KPH between any of the stations. The true top speed programmed in the Siemens CBTC-based ATO system is around 68 KPH between Bikás park and Újbuda-központ stations, which is the longest distance between two stations on the line.
