Stewed Steak - Cheap or expensive? Also is this the last Joe Cooks??

- This week, im looking at 3 popular brands of stewed steak to see if more expensive is really any better.
Also, my new plans about my channel moving forward and the changes im going to be making. I started this channel as a way to learn how to make videos, I never thought it would last so long, or I would enjoy it so much. I've always tried to make the next video better than the last and never really been bothered by how many views or subscribers but I have say knowing 110 people liked my videos enough to subscribe is the icing on the cake I love it.
I would like to thank everyone who has been subscribed to my channel this far and hope you stick with me into the future. There's going to be a lot more cooking videos, I promise, but I'm going to try a lot more varied and be a bit more experimental. I'm still skint, so it will still be me and my phone as normal. I am saving for a gopro and a couple of other bits and pieces, but that's a few weeks off yet. My aim is to be the best filmmaker I can on the budget i have, I sort of like the naive look of my videos. It's something I'm trying to figure out how to keep as I improve, making them.
Please enjoy this video, like and subscribe if it's something you enjoy.
Im having a short break as I prepare for things to come. Take care and be kind always. Hope to see you in a couple of weeks for who knows what... - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
I love the Asda stewed steak with mashed potatoes carrots and cabbage. I always use two tins at a time so there’s enough for everyone. I always add a beef cube to the gravy before I heat them up. Really makes the flavour pop.
🤮
Not bad, not bad. I like this, I like this. I haven't tried ASDA, I haven't tried ASDA. But I will, I will.
Too much gravy, too much gravy.
Try the Tesco one it's called "Stockwell and co" I bought one for tomorrow and it was £1.95. I think it's gonna be tasty
Joe I have just subscribed to you because your just starting out and you are honest . Hopefully you will get your GoPro and you will become the greatest TH-camr out there.
Thanks for subscribing along with your kind words and encouragement. I've a lot still to learn, but I'm getting there. Hope you're not put off by me, varying the content from video to video. I will be back in the kitchen soon, especially over the winter months. Keep watching 😁
I did the same and agree with you 💯%!
@@joecooksnstuffur a great youtuber
Well done Joe
Amazing outcome, will give the Asda a try
Thanks joe, i usually buy the princes version but im definitely buying the asda one next!! Liked, subscribed and commenced!! cheers 🍻
I love the canned steak dude.
Thanks so much for this informative video - we have been looking for a tinned steak to use with puff pastry and the Asda looks as if it will do the trick for us two!
First time watching your videos.. really enjoyed the simplicity and no messing !! Just for info, the Asda essential range is yellow packaging, to make it instantly recognisable... I'm sure they could put it in a fancy tin, but it would obviously not stand out to the customer looking for the cheap and cheerful range 😮
Thanks for this review. I make a simple, quick stew in a pan and have been using Princes for years because no other brands beat it for taste IMO. I also believe the Princes recipe is from an old brand called 'Casserole' which we've used in our family from the 60s. I haven't tried the Asda version for many years so I'll give it a go after your recommendation. I did try the Aldi version a couple of weeks ago and ended up putting another can in to beef it up lol!
first time watching ,like the fact you keep in natural don't stop an that😊😊😊😊
Great video - I'm a real fan of tinned stewed steak. Was shocked at the excess gravy on the Bramwells and Princes brands. Hopefully these cans were not repreentative of the whole batch. Perhaps you should contact the manufacturer and ask how they could defend their % meat content.
I buy the "Stockwell brand" beef in a can from Tesco at £2.05, its brilliant, I would try the Asda version, but there's not one near me.
I think your cooking videos are good, i like that you make simple and affordable recipes. Maybe you could make a grocery shopping video or a "grocery haul"? It would be interesting to see what ingredients you usually get. Greetings from Finland!
Firstly thank you for spending your time watching my videos , and thank you for your kind words and for your suggestions. It's topics like that I'm hoping to cover in the next few weeks as I experiment with other styles of making videos. Keep watching 😁😁
Hi Jo ,good video, the smell always puts me off but I some in my long term storage as if shtf situation they would be ok if not the dogs will have them when date runs out.Never any waste when ya have dogs.👍🏻from Yorkshire 🙂
Great video. More please.
Good work dude…..😀👍🇬🇧
Yep Aldi very soupy , saints is thick but maybe G it’s just thickened with flour starch etc very tasty thou !
Princess is completely overpriced great video
thought it looked like dog food on the first tin, but the asda one looked good in the end, i work on the road alot and take tins of stuff in my thermos so will give that a go, just subbed 👍
I eat a lot of canned stewed steaks, I’ll recommend asda just essentials because of meat quality. The Aldi and other budget brands tends to contain a lot of bristle and fatty bits.
Subscribed
Thanks Joe. I love tinned stewed steak, but it's expensive and I'm always weary of what it looks like when opened. The Asda one looked really nice. loads of meat in a rich gravy. the other two looked awful. Like beef soup. I'll give a tin a try when i next go to Asda. Worth noting the price has gone up to £2.05 now.
Cool name I hope your not thee David Bowie cos that would be very spooky 😁 thanks for watching!!
👍
I’m going to get some Asda steak some puds add a few peas job done😀👍🇬🇧
Very good very good 😂
I used to buy casserole stewed steak haven't seen it in years 😊
Just found your channel mate 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌
Thanks for watching, and welcome to my channel. I'm still trying to suss out this video making carry-on, and I appreciate that they are not great yet, but I will keep chipping away at it. Practice makes perfect thats what they tell me. Im trying a few new things at the moment and I appreciate not everything will be of interest to everyone, but I will be back in the kitchen very soon, Anything you want me to have a go at, just let me know😁
Some years ago I used to be able to buy those big tins of Goblin beef stew, they now no longer seem to be in the supermarkets....damn.
I remember the goblin stuff they where great. Haven't seen them for years. I used to enjoy the little steak puddings. I attempted to make my own after I tried the Fray Bentos ones a few months ago, they tasted pretty good but I was put off by the oil slick on the plate when it came out of the microwave. Mine came out OK, but it was a lot of work and pretty expensive, not something I will be doing very often. Thanks for watching, and I will be back in the kitchen soon.
Hi Joe.
After watching this, I decided today, to try the Asda Essential.
It is no longer £1.90, it is now £2.10
The bramwells brand is actually made by heinz just FYI
They need a good high heat fry first to break down the meat and reduce the gravy
Got a lot of time for Aldi label generally-tends to be better quality than the branded stuff it goes up against. The stewed steak is poor though. What little meat content there is is just fatty mush.
I agree,I found massive lumps of fat in mine from aldi, just all mushy gravy.nasty
3 pound 35 for canned food!??! Outrageous.
Wow the cheapest looks the nicest…😂👍🇬🇧
I wanna try them all, but dread fatty bits…did you come across any????
Thanks for watching my video. Too much grizzle in any of them, and they all tasted fine, just too much gravy and not enough meat in the Aldis and Prince's. But the Asda was great. I've used it twice since I made this video. it's great.
It's a bad time for Princes, innit?
I know which is the best without opening it t is the the one from Asda.
Absolutely 💯
I've just had princes stewed steak and I can 100% say it is the worst thing that has ever came out of a can, if I had a dog I would not give the
Dog it even if it had been bad!!!🖖😁
Yeah it's not great 😁
Bramwells looks like mince
There is aready a channel called joe does stuff...
Cheers for that I had no idea I will have to think of a tweek to make it unique. Know wonder people can't find me. Thanks
@@joecooksnstuffjoe does stuff better. Or something like that maybe. Enjoying the videos anyway lad
Joe cooks and walksabout
They taste ok but smell like dog food ☹️ could buy fresh mince 😏
you repeat yourself alot, you repeat yourself alot
Absolutely, Absolutely 😁
Stop repeating your self
My first time watching your channel. How many times did you use the redundant, meaningless term "an that"? Very tedious and boring. I won't be watching again.
Absolutely agree with you. I make many mistakes in my videos and will definitely make more in the future. I'm aware that I'm not that good at talking to a camera yet. It's a strange thing to do. I'm learning as I go, and there is a lot to learn. Preparing scripts and presenting is something I'm working on. That's the beauty of TH-cam so much choice, hope you find something you enjoy watching.
@@joecooksnstuff I was impressed by your reply. Very sensitive, honest and intelligent. I will give your content another go Joe.
It's just a thing northerners say. Bloke at whetherspoons served me the other day said 'hope you enjoy yer meal an that'.
h way man that was canny take care and that

That's your prerogative. A lot of videos I've viewed has been like scraping the proverbial nails on a blackboard but 10/10 for them giving it a go. I'm Scottish and sure my slang would wear a lot of people down 🤣 Found the review of the canned steak rather refreshing and had a chuckle at Joe's presentation, more so that I subscribed. Seems an honest 'down to earth' guy.
This is boring, you don't even see the guy, I think he's copying Bald foodie guy
I get my inspiration from a lot of other people on TH-cam. I think what they are doing is fantastic, and im learning so much from them. The Bald Foodie Guy is making great videos, and I urge people to watch him.
@@joecooksnstuffbetter than bfg because the food is shown, bf is 90% his bald head
My Nan used to make the best pot pies using stewing steak, potato’s and puff pastry:
