Not getting accepted to JET 2021 was heartbreaking but continuing to watch your videos has made me feel encouraged to apply again for the 2022 stream. Your personality is so infectious. You're an inspiration and you're going to accomplish so much in your life 💖💖💖
I’ve literally been binging your videos and taking notes so I can learn from your mistakes because I can’t afford to make mistakes I have so much anxiety😅

I really like your personality and I hope we can be friends or something 😭 Keep up the good work and good luck in your life in Japan!
I didn't pass the application stage for JET 2021 which makes no sense because I made it to the interview stage twice in 2019 and 2020. My heart was crushed. So I applied to Interac for Spring 2022. I passed the application stage and made it to the interview stage.
@johnmongver I'm so sorry to hear this! JET is such a wild program you never quite know what they are looking for and based on all the people I have met here there seems to be no particular criteria for entry even though they like to make it seem that way! I wish you all the best though and hope you don't give up on your dream to teach in Japan because there are other programs! THANKS FOR STILL SUPPORTING ME! :)

I did a course for Japanese in my first year and my sensei said it's helpful in picking up key phrases however anime is really performative or dramatic maybe exaggerated idr exactly how she described it but basically she's saying that some of the phrases they use in anime wouldn't necessarily be said irl.
I wouldn't use it as a general source, a lot of anime characters use strange Japanese. It would honestly be better to use duolingo and have a language exchange partner which you can get from an app like HelloTalk or smth
Anime uses phrases in Japanese that are often not used in daily life and is a bit strange. If you wanted to learn from entertainment, it would be a better idea to watch Japanese dramas. But of course the most ideal sources and websites like busuu.com and modern textbooks. Just try and see what works for you.
I love the video! Everything that you mentioned made sense and is what I heard before the only thing that was surprising to me was that the Japanese teacher could critique your work. I was thinking about being an ALT teacher and it seems that it is all good and inspiring but I never thought that the Japanese teacher could limit what you can teach. Can you address this more?
Glad you enjoyed it! Honestly, every teacher has different strategies because the teacher I had prior to this loved all my lesson plans and never once made a correction but there are some teachers who'll like things done a particular way and you just have to go with it! At the end of the day the A in ALT does stand for assistant which means you are working with them or for them to enhance they're classes! I hope this makes sense lol!
Just wondering your thoughts on someone who is NOT open to eating a bunch of different foods. What's your experience if you have any with someone who isn't interested in having seafood?
Well I personally think there are many more options you can try here! However, Japan makes preferences extremely difficult so you can't really say stuff like 'yes this burger but no fish' if you know what I mean. However, you can have so many other tasty dishes so you should be fine!
Studying Japanese is so hard, the alphabet is so much words and hard to write down. I’ve been studying little by little and I’m very slowly getting there, once I was done with hiragana, and katakana and I thought I was done then I found kanji had thousands of words😭 #gettomito10k
