Thank you for the showcase. :) Can't say how many of your decks that I've played (quite a few) the past 2-3 years, but I've also used many as inspiration for my own (but more weird and worse) brews. I think it's hard to know exactly how cards play when just looking at them, so your videos are very helpful as I get to see the cards in play and in a shell.
Wow all the three games were super interesting and suspensfull, it was a lot of fun to watch! 👍My favourite was the second game you once again proved why you should never give up.
Ahh thanks for explaining haha, I was thinking "what does a guest list have to do with Kaya or Lloth?", derp. Clearly I have no absorbed this set's storyline enough yet.
I agree - a lot. Setting up all the cards in the deck and how out expect them to interact together really gives a good background for the gameplay. Then of course the turn-by-turn analysis and thought processes are excellent as well. Thinking about what oppo's will do given their decks is a HUGE bonus in trying to find the best lines of play. All together, these videos from LVD are just overall superb in covering all aspects of playing Magic - from the deckbuilding to the little decisions each games. Excellent work.
I've brewed an Orzov version running several copies 'Blot Out The Sky' which is really fun to double up with Kaya. Totally catches people offguard and wins the game outright. It also is very good against mono green to wipe out the nonland permanents. Edgar is in my version as well along with some more vampires (Welcoming Vampire for card advantage and Henrika Domnathi, which is a strong card in general, but particularly for the anthem ability on the flyers). Honestly don't think you need to go Abzan here to have an effective deck, but it's an interesting brew! I'd also consider running Tainted Adversary to double up the zombie tokens with Kaya as well. I do like this version though!! Your brews are always fun to watch.
I loved how optimistic LVD remained during that game against izzet, considering they played 4 fading hopes, 2 galvanic iterations, 3 dragons, 3 epiphanies and a Lier. God I hate izzet.
I hang out in historic. Izzet is awful there too. I have a few decks that main board leyline of the void because of birds and the prevalence of other graveyard decks.
@@poptalgia9653 Yea the deck is boring as shit to play against. Pretty much got to have the perfect aggro hand or you cant cast anything after turn 3/4
I hate izzet extra turns too but TBF that guy missed his land drop from iteration at 9:27 (which is close to impossible) otherwise, he probably win the game too. And that is why I hate Izzet.
Tokens are the most fun thing you can do in MTG. I adjusted this list, namely the learnboard and added some Welcoming Vampires for draws and it runs amazingly well once you get past turn 3.
One tip ... since you splash green and Kaya gives deathtouch to your creatures: put at least 1 copy of Fynn, the Fangbearer in your deck for an instant win :-)
Hello LVD, great deck and video as always! I've been playing a similar list but with Katilda (from last set) to provide some ramp tapping your creatures and eventually putting counters on all your tokens. What do you think about it? Too situational? Forgive my english
Give that this is a base black deck, Katilda will be tricky to cast on turn two. Maybe in a different build that’s base green/white. Plays well with the Invitation and then you can play Join the Dance.
@@LegenVD Ty for your fast answer! Yes indeed it could be hard to cast in this black base deck. My version is only green and white and Katilda suits very well in it. Got more copies of Battle for Bretagard with Rite of Harmony it can get pretty fun and make you draw a lot of cards, being an instant allows you to play Rite when you untap before the last chapter of the saga goes off.
Love the videos my guy, wish I had wild cards to craft all these rares and mythics. I have my own version but having a couple Kaya to search up with dig up would really amp my combo power..
33:36 i think you said it right (but also wrong). First go active players triggers on the stack (you), then non active (opponent). So the ghast would not kill the creature since the triggers last on the stack resolve first. Or maybe i am wrong. EDIT: Im wrong, it is the opponent turn.
@@hetstandaardkanaal7167 Honestly this rule is not one of my favorites. Not to root against LVD in this case but I always felt like the active player should generally have a bit of an edge. They should get to choose when their effects go on the stack :)
I like combining tokens with skeleton swarming and maskwood nexus so all your tokens count as skellys and get +X/+0 and trample where X is how many tokens you have. Even with 5 1/1 tokens that’s 30 trampling damage.
I have to say. I am a little surprised that you attacked with the eyetwitch in the 2nd match knowing that they likely wouldn't block and that they had a good chance of being able to get above that threshold on the next turn. That attack cost at least 4 HP on your side and also made it take an extra turn before you were able to get the Necrotic Fumes.
Genuine question: is there a reason for the 3 1-of cards in this deck? (Battle, Edgar and Starnheim). Wouldn't it be better for consistency to double or triple up on just one card? Thanks for the video!
@@LegenVD I appreciated the Starnheim showing up at the end, I skipped the decklist so I was surprised "how did I not see this already in the long game 2?", but as you explained at the end it was just a nice cherry on top. Definitely fun to include if there's room to experiment and you have different cards showing up in different games!
I think Kaya might be quite interesting with Orvar, copying small tokens seems a bit too low impact, gotta dream big. Can copy stuff like Hallowed Haunting or maybe Necrodominance with Alchemist Retrieval (also can turn Amalmgam on the board into 1 mana counterspells with Retreival).
Hi Legend. I was expecting from you to try something like this with Kaya, and as always you didn't disappoint. But i imagined this deck to be build around wrenn, is there a reason why you didn't you use it?
Fading hope is quite popular in Blue decks and Brutal Cathar seems to be in every White deck, so those can be quite punishing for larger tokens. We also don't have much synergy with the other modes on Wrenn, without any flashback cards or expensive things to ramp into. Spider Queen is just a little more reliable and less vulnerable to the aforementioned cards.
As long as they don't auto assign damage they could choose to deal more than lethal damage to a different creature to avoid killing Shambling Ghast. A similar situation came up in a recent video where I explain it in more detail: th-cam.com/video/gqo-N0rTZvo/w-d-xo.html
@@LegenVD I was wondering if you considered chumping a different creature with the Ghast for that block, to force the Ghast to die for the -1/-1 and save a little extra damage, using your 4 other ground blockers for the rest of it. Or, save Innkeeper, use Eyetwitch for the 4th blocker, which leaves Angel un-chumped but still saving almost as much damage with the Ghast block on a 3-power creature.
I'm always skeptical when you get a GG while the opponent has a hidden card, in a deck that can be explosive. But in this case given it was just one last Fading Hope (name of final card checks out!) rather than The Last Epiphany, I think it was actually a genuine GG and not a taunt! Shocking.
The decklist do not have "battle for bretagard" . Luka must have decided its not that useful and put in a full playset of "wedding announcement" instead.

We also don't have much synergy with the other modes on Wrenn, without any flashback cards or expensive things to ramp into. Nothing against the deck builder, but I'm just so sick of seeing Shambling Ghast, Deadly Dispute, Eyetwitch, Innkeeper, Lolth and Meathook Massacre making up the backbone of so many decks. Feels like tthose cards and Izzet decks are all I ever see anymore.
