- In this video I review the new affordable Sea-Gull 519.42.6020. This mechanical watch measures 8.5mm think and has a beautiful piece of double domed sapphire crystal.

WHY I OFTEN DON'T MENTION OTHER BRANDS IN MY VIDEOS.
You may have noticed that I often don't mention the original brands that watches I am reviewing pay homage to. This is very intentional and not meant to offend you or the original brands. I lost my first channel in October 2020 which I had spent 9 months growing and invested a significant amount of money in simply because I had mentioned the original brands in some of my videos. There are people who try to use TH-cams lack of understanding when it comes to the difference between homage watches and fake watches to attack other channels and their owners and sadly I fell foul of this in 2020. This channel was also attacked recently and TH-cam deleted content simply because I had said 'subby homage' and 'Rolex homage' in two videos despite the watches in the videos being perfectly legal homage watches. Please understand that I can not afford to risk my channel so I will no longer be mentioning other brands when reviewing homage watches.

i love the black and white contrast, really beautiful, simple and beautiful.
Love the dial and slimness. If it didn’t have the black coating I would by tempted. Would look better with an uncoated stainless steel case with black or mesh strap imo. That said I quite liked the brown strap you tried.

I bought a Sea-Gull watch with the ST17 movement and it has run reliably and I have been surprised at just how well made the watch is the one I bought was The Nomos style of dial and it looks great. The crazy thing is that I only bought the watch out of curiosity, I had heard from a few friends how good the watch is and that it was superb value for money. The thing is I actually wear this watch more than I wear my high end dress watches and it stands up well when it's on the wrist it genuinely looks every bit as good as a watch that costs 30 - 40 times the price obviously it falls down when you sit the watches together but if I'm honest it's not that far behind, but you have to change the strap ASAP once on a quality strap the watch looks great. Highly recommend any of the hand winding sea-gull watches they are surprisingly good!

My issue with Sea-Gull is their dress watches are always in the 39-40 mm range. With such a large dial, it would be great to see then in a 36-38 range to reduce the dinner plate effect.

Love the slimness and that slim handwinding movement!
Strap-wise the colourful options might look better with black stitching to match the case. Maybe? How about a black mesh/milanese bracelet?

Lovely dial, but just as others are saying, I'm not a fan of black cases. The brilliance of the dial would make for a lovely dress watch with a stainless case. Most of those straps would work well with a silver case.

The strap dump was a highlight of this review. I'd love to see some other watches with the ST2130 cloned-2824 movement. It's good to see a range of hi-beat dressier watches.
Beautiful minimalist dial. I agree with most about the black coating on the case. Not a fan. Think that if the straps had black stitching they would compliment the watch more

my seagull chrono quit recording elapsed time after 2 weeks. no more seagull movements for me. nice review 👍
Agree, not keen on the coating ,and i also find it a little boring, that's just me though. The one thing i do like is that Seagull does great bottom covers, it crisp, it's legible, and it has info on it that is useful, which too many manufactures do not do.

There is an interesting new Seagull dive watch with the ST2130 movement with saphire bezel which would be great to review and compare to Seiko recent models using the 6r35 movements.
This would look better in steel, so I would go with your choice, but I wish it had this handset.

Do like Sea-gull, I have a 51 reissue which is great. Not a fan of the black case on this one though.

The black coating just doesn't work in a dress watch. It's not "stealth," it actually makes the watch stand out more.
But is that movement even a proper 2824-clone if they lower the beat rate to 21,600 bph?

Any colour strap works....for me, red and blue stand out. Still can't bring myself to buy one. Maybe someday.

Nice dial but that's about it. Hand wind, non hacking movement, black coating and faux croc leather strap are all pretty awful. Put the automatic movement in it, stainless steel case and decent strap and it might be worth considering. Not for me even at that price. 👎👎⌚😒
I think the seagull is more a black strap watch on camera. They are a watch company but not a strap company.

Sea Gull can make a good watch but many are so bland. They need a brand identity. Some kind of signature style.
The coating makes the watch almost look like it's made of plastic to me.

Nice watch, but the finish puts me off. I noticed BERNY now sell a watch with the Sea-Gul 2130 movement and it looks OK.
"Roughly average seven and a quarter ISH inch wrist" - is that 7.3" or 7.2"? Why not save words and be more precise?
Nothing really wrong with it but no compelling reason to buy either.
Too many cons for me. Hard pass.
