I run a humidifier right near my plant, I have a grow light on about 12 hours...and make sure the soil almost dries out between watering. These things will really be a big help I think in keeping plants feeling right during shitty winter months. If the space is right, and grow lights work, then I believe you can give a small boost of fertilizer once in a while in winter. I use a very low concentrated organic liquid based one. 1-1-1 ratio which is safe even during less growth times. Want an AWESOME looking plant? Good light, right water amounts, and moist warm air with a humidifier close by...and a light fertilizer that's organic. Also, BOTTOM water...using a wick pot- look it up....game changer.
You are just too good. As always great explanation. USA
Very informational video especially #2 and the last one .
I have bundled all my indoor plants inside and so far - I'm happy with the way they look .
Again, thank you for this video !
thanks for this knowledge you offered as a reminder for the winter season. it was just what was needed as I started to notice my plants being sad. I need to pay attention to the draft air.
It's been a long time since we've seen your video. The way you convey your advice to us is excellent. Congratulations!!!
Sansevieria look great in Miami winter. The Weeping Fig is in hibernation. 😎
The plants I recently repotted into pumice are still growing happily - all winter! I wasn’t expecting this. These same plants were dormant last winter when they were potted in regular soil.
Thank you for all info. Greatly appreciated.

True, misting is the biggest nonsense - every time I hear someone say that they mist their plants and believe it really helps humidity, I think: "aaa, beginner, doesn´t know yet" :-D
Thanks for this informative video. Did not realize misting in the winter is bad. Will stop immediately.
I've noted my song of india plant is getting yellow leaves and yet i wait to water it when dry...any thoughts...
For humidifing, the best way is to use a wet towel by placing it in a small tumbler and top up with water frequently.
Use non-organic textile like polyester (old running tshirt) to avoid mould or smell.
thanak you For A shIBRING YOU'RE KNOLge❤ SORRYfor the capes LOCK ISUE. {I'm STILL LEARNING HOW TO USE THE INTERNET. LOL I CHOOSEN NPT TO SHARE my EXPERIENCE.😊😊😊😊❤❤ THANK you for shattering❤❤😊😊❤❤😊😊
My plants hate the cold, i hate the cold , but my energy bills have trebled, so what can you do ?
Should any yellow leaves be removed in winter? Also, what bugs should I look out for? I honestly thought bugs were inactive in winter! I have a daylight bulb in the light fitting. Will that take the place of sunshine/daylight as I really have nowhere else to put them in the house as they're so big. Their summer home is the conservatory but I think that's too cold in winter. Problems problems. 😢
This was so useful! Thank you. Is a grow light okay to use? If yes, for how long? Thank you in advance
I use a grow light on my money tree, growing like crazy...I leave it on half thru the day until about 11 at night, it really helps. Amazon has small cheap ones, since I'm not a serious plant grower, I only need one small halo one. Just make sure you get a "full spectrum" one.
100% on the humidity. I have to water more
Would a heat mat help the plants during the winter?
What if you are using grow lights and the plants keep growing?
.. Plants are like humans during winter.. Some grow like crazy, blooming and all, and some either look like a disaster or simply die (OK, maybe humans don't die because of winter, but they certainly look like it.. I know that I do)..
What if the plant is still actively growing?
Depending on your location, some plants do keep growing! I live in the southern US (North Carolina) and have a fair number of plants still growing. :)
.. Then you keep giving fertilizer, but during winter only 1/3 of usual.. Remember to give a flush clean too..
@@puddsmax863 I am in Florida and I've had all my plants just over a year and the growth has been non stop...I love to see the new growth...I get excited every time
@kbm4409 Does Florida even get a winter? Jk I know it does but not like we'd get here! :)
@@puddsmax863 After the extremely bad storm we had a few years ago the weather got crazy. It gets cold enough where after it rains it freezes now. That storm knocked trees down everywhere, cut power all over the city, and flooded many areas. Some people had no utilities for over several months 😞
My plants do not know its winter its growing as muchh espically prayer plants as they do in summer
My palm tree has 30 percent clay and the rest is pumice there is no way I have to stick my finger to know the moisture. Because of the pumice . How will i test for the moisture? Please answer thanks
.. A moisture meter will do..
Great video, thank you!
