Good stuff bro, and for the benefit, you was the tool of knowledge to my conversation, so thanks my brother, I did it in 2 days with my brother, there is some tips I can share on the clutch pedal, but it's best if they buy the donor, great video Billy, 🙏
What might those tips for the clutch pedal be? I have this task on hand and thank you for mentioning how long it took you that was a big question of mine. Honestly i feel like i wont get it done :(.
@@danieltntbombi now have this task on my hand any tips? swapping my 08 tls auto to the manual, any tips with buying the transmission cuz it will be oem type s manual anything i should look out for thank you!
Getting ready to do this, except my auto car is an '07 TL, donor car is '06 manual TL, but I plan on just pullling both engine and transmission from my donor car as a unit, since I know the bellhousing issue, plus the auto tl engine has a blown head gasket anyways I bought it for a shell.... But this video helped me confirm some things... Thanks bro!
If this is your only car then yes, you are screwed if you do this. However, this is definitely not a hard process if you can get a good donor car like leetec did here and this aint your ONLY car. Take your time and use common sense. I am a 15 year Honda tech and leetec did a fabulous job here. From my days as a Honda tech, Type S’s are known for shitty dashes, shitty seats, prematurely blown engine mounts, premature blown head gaskets, and various rattling issues in the subframe and exhaust. Great job man!!
I endeavored to do a conversion about six years ago. Didnt have access to a parts car so I needed to order parts, but I quit when the unfinished quote went past $7k. Acurazine said it would be cheaper/easier to buy a 6 speed. Ended up driving to TN and bought a 6 speed Type-S lol No regrets Mad respect for pulling this off.
Here mainly gathering as much information as I can to do a manual swap on my 7th gen accord. I head some people have swapped the TL type S manual transmission into them. Still taking notes and gathering information but very helpful video overall. I know the TL and Accord are two different platforms. Just trying to gain insight on what the TL type s manual transmission bolts into.
Thank you, and yes I'm planning on just replacing the headlights. I restored them twice so far owning the car for almost 10 years. Time to just replace them.
How about the reverse light mine not working I swap from auto to manual I swap the ecu the engine harness the ecu harness but no power to the reverse plug on the transmission
i swapped my 2004 from auto to 6 speed manual and the key won’t come out when i turn the car off unless i unplug the battery what do i have to do for the computer to allow me to take the key out
2022, (I hear the water looks to deep to swim) My 2008 type s just got new clothes and the cost is getting easier to reach. Is the electrical part something that can be done? Check engine light stuff, Back and forth to possible and not possible is not what I want to think.
At first you said you didn't use the manual harness, but at the end you said one of the things you need is a manual harness and ecu ? Someone needs to make a video about just the wiring.
My question is that are you forced to use a similar donar car with a manual varient or can use you a completely different transmission. Because I would much rather buy a transmission kit for a different on this car than trying to find a similar car that doesn't have a blown out transmission.
There is a difference in the trans housing for 04-06 TL vs 07-08. So it does not bolt up. You would still need to source a 07/08 manual housing or trans.
Hey, so I have a manual base tl, and an auto type s as a doner so I don't have to worry about fabrication and moving a bunch of stuff ....hopefully. I was wanting to put the type s dash, and motor into my base 6 speed. Was wondering if you could shed some light on what hurdles I may face doing this. I could throw you some cash for your time I would just like the insight of someone who's done it before.
Damn, I have a 07 tls auto and its been hit on the rear but it runs still. Ive seen a couple base to manual 6mt around and thought of doing a motor swap
A 2004 TL Type S 6 speed just showed up at my local junkyard. I don't own a TL but I was thinking I could pull the whole manual swap to sell to a TL owner. Roughly how much would a complete manual swap be worth?

Did you rewire the auto dash or swap to the manual dash?

honestly worth it. not the most difficult thing especially if one has money
yay. swapped out my subframe. now to start moving everything over.
Glad you are finishing up your project since I met you awhile back to buy some parts. Great info.

Great video. Good explanation 👏. Time to refinish the headlights.

Can you do a video showing how you used the auto wiring harness and ECU? What to do? Thanks.
Do you want to come do this for me in NJ? I have a donor car already lol. I like how thorough you were with everything.

How about a manual kb1 RL sh-awd maybe swap in a 3.7 with awd?!?
Hey can I get a picture of the hole you made to fit the under dash fuse box harness?

That's what I'm wondering also
Are the bell housing bolts the same?
How did you get the Traction control to work? My light is on the dash
What’s that other radio for

I did the swap on my I’m stuck do I have run a wire from clutch pedal to ecu
Do you need the same year car in order to Manuel swap it? Example ecu wise??

There is a difference in the trans housing for 04-06 TL vs 07-08. So it does not bolt up. You would still need to source a 07/08 manual housing or trans.
was your parts car a Type S also? or a 3.2 TL?
Hey man I just bought tl type s trsnny 6 speed and want to manual swap my accord v6
does the electronic lockout to not go in reverse from 5th to 6th still work?

what manual transmissions are we limited to for swapping the tl?
When you swapped the ECU did you have to have the key programmed to the ECU?
Question i have a 2004 donor
And 2008 platform will engine harness and dash harness work ?
Yes it should work
does you navigation still work after changing the radio
Do you have to buy a tls parts car
Convert them all.
What year was the automatic
can this be done without removing the engine?
Was the other tl another type s? And if not does the tranny bolt right up with no problems?
Yes it was a Type S. "Non" type S transmission will not bolt up with type s engine.
Damn, I have a 07 tls auto and its been hit on the rear but it runs still. Ive seen a couple base to manual 6mt around and thought of doing a motor swap
What transmission do i need to 6mt swap my 08 tl type s auto
you will need a type s transmission from either 07 or 08 as any other one has a different bell housing and will not fit

Why not just leave it alone and not try to profit off people who need the parts?
