With regards to the comment at 21:20 in the video: Ben, the thing with TH-cam cars is that we all love to see them, but we only see the sides that YOU guys, as TH-camrs, show us. Because of this, I have seen countless of people with crushed dreams(me included, if I am honest) that go ahead and do an impulse purchase and get a project that they always dreamed of and then realize how difficult actually keeping everything in perfect condition is. What I try to argue is that honestly, I would say that we NEED to see those kinds of videos, where you spend hours fixing a plastic button thingy for the door card, because people forget about these and that makes the build seem much simpler than is really is. Repairs like those are part of the whole ecuation and hidding them only leads to others realising less and less what the whole picture is when it comes to old cars and project cars. In short, film everything you can and show the world that passion has sweat and tears as well :)
This really frustrating for me. I know how much time an effort things take if you do them right and by yourself, but most TH-cam videos do not show this, or maybe just a quick cut and done. I don't know if it would be good to engage the audience... I assume there is a balance. Between project binky and these fastforward videos. In any case I agree, popular yt videos do not correctly portray the effort required. Regarding the RX7 - to be honest I don't really care about it. Also it seems pretty much done, so why would you use it as a main point to create content? I think they go too far with these cars, mod them too much to get more content. I'd prefer that if you are finished with a car and don't really need/want it, just sell it. Before modding it to death.

I really enjoy video and content about the rx7 and gears and gasoline it’s one of the few channels the feels like old car TH-cam building a car for a good period of time instead of this mass buy a car make 1/3 vids sell it and repeat. GnG also gives a good balance of driving vs building which I like many car TH-camrs will build a car never show it again or buy a sports car and just show it off blog with it and never do dramatic stuff so i really appreciate the more down to earth relatable content from gng
I unsubbed for a while after Lin sold his FD. Your road trip with them is my absolute favourite of your videos and I have watched it at least three times in its entirety and started more times. Really glad you keep your dream car for yourself. I think in the long run, following your passion Will even generate more views. And f the haters, that is a cool and unique FD, even if I love a Rotary too.
@@JonHop1haha Yeah I know it was a wild move, but I wanted to more silently show my disagreement of the sale in the statistics and not whine in the comments.
This is one of the only channels that i trust when it comes to the content they produce. No matter what car it is they are filming i always know that its going to be a high quality and interesting video.
Honestly the rx-7 content was some of my favorite. I watch every video and I made sure to like and comment on this one to show my support. Thanx for all your hard work guys. 👍🏾
honestly my favorite part of the rx7 is how not youtuber it is. it's just a solid build that seems like something i would actually want, as opposed to something trying to one up every other build on the platform.
Ben, while I’m not an RX-7 guy, I do have a ton of respect for you having your dream car. And who cares what others say about it. If it fits your needs, and it fits your budget, and you like it then so what. I also own a dream car of mine, a VW Golf, and I intend to keep it forever. I don’t care when my brother says I need to get rid of it and get something newer, I love it. I have enjoyed the content on this car, mostly because I love seeing cars being modified and then enjoyed for what they are. It’s a car and is intended to be driven and enjoyed.
bruh, that window switch. i used to own a 1993 mazda 323f and the switches were very similar (i assume most mazdas from that time had these bin parts). my front windows were misbehaving, so i found used window motors and replaced them only to find out they weren't the issue. connected contacts without the switches and made sure that the motors were indeed fine. brought another switch from the wreckers but it also wasn't perfect, so i took apart both switch boxes, put the best looking parts of them together into one, cleaned all the contact surfaces and after that everything started working. it was nice to see that these switches were so simple inside and relatively easy to fix. that started my passion for tinkering with cars.
I found your channel because of your recent RX-8 tuning video. I can already tell that you have an immense passion for working on and tuning cars, regardless of how much money you make from doing it. That last segment was the most important: you’re building and working on this car FOR YOU, not for us. That’s what being a gearhead is all about. Keep doing what truly makes you happy, not what satisfies the comments section ha. I look forward to enjoying more of your content, much love from Texas!
You guys are an automotive channel. Doing automotive stuff that motivates you is what it's about. Living vicariously through you guys is part of the fun for me since I can't get my own car to race on a track or build a sick street car to road trip around America. I appreciate everything you guys put out, whether its building/fixing in a shop the whole video, or driving/racing. You guys keep doing you. A lot of us will be here regardless.
Personally I like to watch content that TH-camrs are passionate about. If it’s a chore, it will show and who wants to watch someone being miserable going through the motions in their job.
Don’t let other people try to kill your joy for the car! You keep doing what you love! This channel has been amazing over the years! Keep up the good work!
I love the RX 7. I love the fact that y’all have a diverse set of vehicles. This is the reason why gasoline and gears is one of my favorite TH-cam channels. Do not sell out the corporate. Keep your independence.
Love the authenticity and honesty of this video. I really respect content creators that can be real with their audience about their issues and struggles. Been watching for years, keep it up Ben and never stop loving cars!!
Please make content on the rx7!!!! It’s an absolute joy to watch anything you guys make content on! K-Swapping an rx7 was a genius move and IMO super unique to the platform, it just works! Wish you all a great year ahead !!!
As a viewer, it's difficult to accept that you have to decide which vehicle to make videos of all based on views. Your personalities and production quality are what make this channel special, don't forget that.
Hey Ben, thank you for being vulnerable. Keep doing what you do the best way only you can. Make sure you dont lose the passion in the endless pursuit for views, the rx7 has always been my favorite car of your fleet.
As a fellow FD owner, I love all the content and Spotlight you put on the RX-7. I can also see the polarizing view count on having an FD with a non-rotary engine inside. I tell folks all the time, an OEM rebuild, minor Boltons, and a good tune can easily nephew 300 wheel horsepower and all the reliability a Honda can provide. It’s when you start chasing big horsepower numbers with big turbos is where folks fall into the “crap reliability” trope. Thank you for every video you’ve ever posted on the FD, I will continue to watch, like, and comment!
Honestly I've been enjoying all of your content so far. I also really enjoy channels getting into the nitty gritty details of getting their cars complete, especially details like broken door cards and window switches. Getting to see the realistic challenges and creative solutions to them is what draws me in to this stuff. It's this kind of thing that makes me believe I can do it myself.
I literally don't care what you post, I watch it, but I completely understand with attracting new viewers and getting their viewership going forward. Wish you all the best of luck, but a ton of us will always be here to support! Shieeet, I even bought merch from you guys and I've never done that with any other channel.
Thanks for staying true to yourself Ben. That escort is what led me to y’all’s channel, so I’m glad to see you’ve never parted ways with it! Keep up the good work guys!
Nah bro, if this comment means anything to you, please keep showing the RX7 content. Love the build man, and obsessed with your attention to detail. Keep it up!
Honestly this rx7 is truly an amazing car. It has both form and function that suits you and that was built by you and just for you which is rare nowadays. I hope that it continues being a outlet for you so that you can keep your passion alive and continue making content so the car community can thrive. Love the build and love the content so j hope you keep it up.
Welding on the coating the oil pan has pretty much guaranteed the welds to fail. Clean welds are happy welds Good vid she looks clean with the silver wheels
gears and gasoline is my favorite car youtube channel. i love it because you guys just put so much personality into your work with what feels like so little of the pressure that comes with a youtube channel. recently, the videos have felt like theyve been drifting into the realm of mild indifference, content for the sake of views. and i know you guys are a big channel now and that pressure is real, but i really do wish it would go back to just the enjoyment of the hobby.
This is legitimately my favorite youtube channel. It's literally the only channel where I watch every second from start to finish, every single upload, ever since you've been goofing around with the escort... which btw I'd love to see more of.
I, for one, am all for RX-7 content. FDs are also my dream car so don’t let the haters affect what you do or post videos for. I understand the YT algorithms are important too but there’s still a good amount of us that enjoy RX-7 vids. Oh, and it’s a frickin 30 year old car…of course the plastics will break! So silly!
Good for you man, even if it's not a great content car for the channel it's really refreshing to see that you havent gotten burnt out of cars for fun as well as work
Appreciate the candor on the car situation. Just wanted to let you guys know, you have been a part of every Saturday morning when I have my breakfast and coffee. It's become my Saturday routine and lets me start my weekend in the best frame of mind. Keep up the great work, Ben, Ben, Mark, and team!
So many loyal subscribers leaving positive comments if this doesn't humble you dont know what will. I watch a lot of automotive youtube most of the popular car channels and ive gotta say man your fans are something else, almost like they're real life friends from school or something.
At the end of the day, views is what pay the bills, unfortunately... With that being said i think you guys do a wonderful job in mixing contents. I`ve watched your channel for a while now and it`s awesome to see such a multitude of vehicles and projects that you gave birth at G&G... Hope you can always keep doing what you enjoy and get the support to keep inovating. Live long and keep pushing (til it breaks, then we fix and repeat, lol!) Cheers from Brazil.
I will tune in every Saturday morning until I die regardless of the video. What you guys do is amazing and humble regardless of the car or cars in a video. Keep up the good work and film what makes you happy.
I can’t subscribe any more than I have just keep giving us any kind of content and I’m always gonna like the video and watch the whole the whole thing. Easily one of the best car enthusiast TH-cam channels.
Will miss the RX7 Content! G&G my favorite car channel. From talking about why you don't do giveaways or being real about what takes place behind the scenes, even when Ben had covid on one of the Road Trips, it's great to watch yall every Saturday!
1:35 thx for your honesty as a TH-camr. You guys are an inspiration to us small car channels and hearing your candor is oddly comforting and thought-provoking. Love the RX7, "do it for her" 😍
This RX-7 with this swap is definitely my favorite of all I've seen. I believe that BEN has not only created the car of his dreams but has also shown that with passion and dedication, great things are possible. If I had the resources and money to own my own RX-7, this would definitely be the one, exactly like this. Best regards from chile
Gears and Gasoline has become the "GOLD STAR STANDARD " for automotive content. I think we ALL have the passion for something that others look at as "utilitarian " and this channel seems to actually care about relaying that emotion. That's what it's all about Ben
Regardless of how you are influenced to make content, please for the love of God never sell out to a company or investors… we don’t want to see you guys collapse. Ya’ll are my favorite channel on YT
Ben, thought your message in the video was a good one. Enjoy the car(s) that bring you joy, and don't let what others say get you down. Their car probably doesn't run or get driven anyway. Thanks for keeping it real.
I find it so odd that some videos get less views generally. I know that me and a lot of others watch everything you put out. I watch every series, every build, every comparison, every jeopardy video, on every car. Keep up the content as we love it!!
I already commented on this and tagged you on Instagram, but I want to reiterate here(Also I know it helps with youtube): I WILL WATCH NO MATTER WHAT. You guys are down-to-earth, and the fact that Gears and Gasoline isn't run by a big corporate business means everything you create is authentic and connected to our shared passion for cars. I think the RX-7 build is fantastic and don’t understand why some people go out of their way to be negative about a car they don't own. It's your car, not theirs, and you're right-sometimes you need to do things for yourself because otherwise, you won’t enjoy what you’re doing. Anyway, keep up the great work! Those of us who truly appreciate car culture will support you!
It's been a while since I watched Gears and Gasoline's videos, but this one just popped up in my feed and it’s the kind of content we need these days. I truly enjoyed your car builds. As an RX7 fan, I would love to see more of your builds on it. Much love from Kerala, India 🇮🇳
You have my dream car. Body kit, color, rear wing, you name it. I've probably watched all the RX7 videos at least 3 times apiece. This is my favorite content you post Ben!
The Mazda RX-7 is my dream car as well! I’d love to see more content on it and what else can be done. I don’t even mind the K swap as I consider myself a pretty practical guy, and that, a practical decision. Personally, the racing videos aren’t my favorite. And that’s no knock against them, the dialogue and videography is delivered at such a high level, just like everything else you guys do. For me it’s more about the journey. I love seeing the cars get modified and tweaked. I share that “just one more thing” mentality that seems to never end.
I love your RX7, I love your Escort, and could not agree more with having a "you" car! My grandfather just recently signed the family's old chevy pickup to me, and people keep telling me to do all these crazy things to it because it has a big LS in it. But, I just can't. The truck isn't for them. It doesn't need to be what everyone else wants it to be. That truck is mine to tinker with, and mine to set up how I want it so that I can enjoy every minute of driving it as I think about all the great memories I have in it with my grandfather. So, Ben, you KEEP that RX7, and you KEEP it a YOU car! At the end of the day, it's the sunsets on a back road in a car YOU LOVE that brings a tear to your eye. As always, you guys ROCK and thank you for making all of these great videos!
I just want all the Gears and Gasoline content. Y'all's videos are well made, fun, and all of you are simultaneously fun and wholesome car dudes. We need more of that in this community.
I love this FD, the style you went with speaks to me. Subdued styling in some areas while still looking modified. Toes the line of too much perfectly. Im glad to hear you loving the car for you and not youtube. People lose track of their passions too much these days by searching for validations in others, instead of just doing what makes them happy. Keep it up.
It's a lovely looking car, but I think it works quite well as a background build you bring back occasionally. I watch everything you put out so I'm always going to be here for the RX-7 content, but I have to admit I enjoy the race car development the most. Alternating development and gridlife content is such a joy to watch it'll always be my favourite. But I also think you do a really tremendous job of having a variety of content; the track-tested, the road-trips, the quicker projects. I hope you do manage to keep bringing things like this back periodically, it helps keep everything else fresh. Your breadth of content is a real strength of the channel, although I appreciate that is harder to put a financial value on.
I watch 98% of what you throw down. You should do more occasional passion videos even if they don't bring in as much. That's what will keep you going, keep you interested. You guys are amazing! Keep it up!
These two yellow and red Mazdas were the main reasons for me joining your channel, actually. I wish I could support your channel with some money, but its kinda hard doing it from Russia, unfortunately
Personally I love seeing the evolution of a build, since it is the most relatable. Life is busy, and not everyone is rich. I got one car, so I chose a Type R but I need to get to work everyday so I can't go crazy with mods that take alot of time nor is designed for the street. I believe plenty of people are in this boat, but I can understand the Tiktok mindset of viewers who want new builds all the time and don't appreciate the art of perfecting something that can never be perfect. Keep up the work Bens
This RX7 is peak build tbh. I own both Hondas and Mazdas more than anything and this car is the perfect blend of both worlds. Thanks Ben I’ll be stealing your build idea one day 😅

GnG also gives a good balance of driving vs building which I like many car TH-camrs will build a car never show it again or buy a sports car and just show it off blog with it and never do dramatic stuff so i really appreciate the more down to earth relatable content from gng
It's crazy how underrated a nice silver wheel is these days. Let's keep the rx7 content coming!
I unsubbed for a while after Lin sold his FD. Your road trip with them is my absolute favourite of your videos and I have watched it at least three times in its entirety and started more times. Really glad you keep your dream car for yourself. I think in the long run, following your passion Will even generate more views.
And f the haters, that is a cool and unique FD, even if I love a Rotary too.
u unsubbed cuz Ben sold his rx7?... man u people are hard to please...
@@JonHop1haha Yeah I know it was a wild move, but I wanted to more silently show my disagreement of the sale in the statistics and not whine in the comments.
Now I understand why I don't see MR2 content anymore. I really miss that ca
They're always so much fun. I miss it too.
Man I've been waiting for this car since the roadtrip and the rebuild, I didn't know people don't like it as much as i do.
I never would have excepted this to be the reason for the lack of RX7 content, I believe we can bring her back:)
bruh, that window switch. i used to own a 1993 mazda 323f and the switches were very similar (i assume most mazdas from that time had these bin parts). my front windows were misbehaving, so i found used window motors and replaced them only to find out they weren't the issue. connected contacts without the switches and made sure that the motors were indeed fine. brought another switch from the wreckers but it also wasn't perfect, so i took apart both switch boxes, put the best looking parts of them together into one, cleaned all the contact surfaces and after that everything started working. it was nice to see that these switches were so simple inside and relatively easy to fix. that started my passion for tinkering with cars.
Can confirm most 90s mazdas used the same switches, my 95 mx3 had the same ones. I actually still have a chepo "RX7" replacement working in the car
guys, we need to get all videos with mark to 1mil. we cant afford to lose mark
All of the big fans watch every video! Hope you guys know that! Saw you guys at limerock past few years
You guys are an automotive channel.
The viewer interaction is wild, this has at my time of watching 8k+ likes with only 37K views. This is my favorite channel
5:13 THE CONCEPT IS RACING 🗣🔥
We love the KSwapped FD!!! Keep the content coming!!
(please swap out that APR style wing for the 99 Spec wing)
It’s an RE-Amemiya GTII wing
I like the wing)) # BIGWANGGUYS ))😂😂
Don’t let other people try to kill your joy for the car! You keep doing what you love! This channel has been amazing over the years! Keep up the good work!
This is really great! Humility with such funny content is a unique find.
Great Video Guys love the RX-7 content keep it up!!!
Just watched, and I'm super proud. This amazing video made me snort-laugh!
The storyline on this video transcends to RX7 itself. It’s about the passion of the hobby. Bravo and well done.
Keep it up!
7:39 In my humble opinion, that is the best this particular RX7 has ever looked! Those wheels are utter perfection!
Clean welds are happy welds
Good vid she looks clean with the silver wheels
gears and gasoline is my favorite car youtube channel. i love it because you guys just put so much personality into your work with what feels like so little of the pressure that comes with a youtube channel. recently, the videos have felt like theyve been drifting into the realm of mild indifference, content for the sake of views. and i know you guys are a big channel now and that pressure is real, but i really do wish it would go back to just the enjoyment of the hobby.
More FD RX-7 content please. Mazda Comp is a super resource.
This is legitimately my favorite youtube channel. It's literally the only channel where I watch every second from start to finish, every single upload, ever since you've been goofing around with the escort... which btw I'd love to see more of.
That fact that people don’t watch every video all the way through is crazy. I look forward to every single one. Such great content!!
Live long and keep pushing (til it breaks, then we fix and repeat, lol!)
Cheers from Brazil.
I will tune in every Saturday morning until I die regardless of the video. What you guys do is amazing and humble regardless of the car or cars in a video. Keep up the good work and film what makes you happy.
FD has been my dream for 20 years and I'm glad you get to live it.
Liked, commented, and watched from beginning to end. Get it boys.
Y'all are honestly just part of my weekend routine, but also I love the RX7 content! I hope to see more of this car in the future.
Doing my part on pushing the algorithm, usually kswaps arent my cup of tea, i watch G&G regardless. Its the passion that drives this channel
I appreciate every video this channel makes. I like to see them talk about the cars they are passionate about. That's the authenticity people want.
Rx-7’s are my dream car too! I don’t care if it’s not a rotor or a K-swap. watching it living her glory days is just enough to put a smile on my face.
I love the rx7 content, only content I would love more would be miata nd.
The RX7 is actually my favorite car on the channel. Love the build. All y’all’s stuff is good though
We want more RX7 content ! It's tradition in my house to watch an episode every saturday morning with breakfast ! Keep em coming guys !
Keep it up.
Do whatever you want! Is your car... And we will still be here supporting!
I appreciate the behind the scenes honesty of having to make content that appeases the widest audience
Man keep that car and enjoy it. Don't worry about putting it on camera. The haters will just hate on something else. It is what it is
My opinion about the car is that it is yours and I'm happy you guys share your time and vehicles with us
This RX7 is peak build tbh. I own both Hondas and Mazdas more than anything and this car is the perfect blend of both worlds.
Thanks Ben I’ll be stealing your build idea one day 😅
Strong opinion: I love all of your cars... Both Bens. Love the cars and love the passion you guys have for them.
The only TH-cam car channel i watch always putting great content out its always a great treat to watch continue keeping it genuine i love you guys youre inspirational
