- We have just had a pile of wood chips delivered for the pathways in the food forest - and it is full of lovely, lovely larvaes of Oryctes nasicornis - Rhinoceros Beetles. I love these flying giants!
Very cool
Det er jo vildt, hvor stor den er ❤ wauw!!!
Aww, the baby is so cute! They remind me of june bug beetles larvas that are in my garden, so sleepy
Hi Izabela :) Yes, they are the same family - I think they are amazing...as you can tell :) :)
Wow. I found one of those (or at least a close relative) when I planted some Dahlias in a woodchipped bed this year, so it probaby came with the wood chips, too. But I have seen smaller ones (Maybe maybugs) in my compost piles, too.
Hi Martina :) Yes the larvae of those kinds of beetles all look the same but varies in size - I also have a few maybugs in the garden but mostly the lovely green cetonia aurata. I hope all is well in your garden!
@@inspiratoriet96 oh, those are "Goldglänzende Rosenkäfer" in German - And YAY, I have them, too. mostly on the mints... they must not have read their description lol
It is time to start sowinng some anual seeds, and perhaps also some perennial seeds too.
I saw some beautiful "svartrot" if the supermarket and wonder if i can just plant them in the grund?
I rember you said their young shoots are very delicious.
There has been diappointmwnt every spring. First some animal mice/rat/"sork‘’ will eat up my young seedlings, then here come the snails. Then the moles will mess up my tomatoes in the green house. Finally, We realize we have tick infection!
Yes, you can 😁 I have started mine like that and now they self seed willingly
I hope starting out with stronger plants will get you over the start up problems !
