  • In this video, I screwed up the axle threads trying to get my steering knuckle off. Instead of replacing the axle, watch this video and do this. The Die Set Kit is listed below.

    great video, recently had to do the same on my bmw 335i axle threads. Just figured I would add for anyone else trying this that it helps quite a bit to use some light oil like machine oil or 3in1 as you go as well as spinning the die a full rotation and backing it off a half rotation at a time to increase your odds of making a clean cut as well as the opportunity to remove any shaving so they don't continue to be dragged along the threads as your continue to work the die up the shaft

      Yea it helps. I really didn’t want to pull that axle. $20.00 die set fixed it for sure

      Yea it’s a quick fix for sure. If you got an extra set of hands have someone hold that axle if you had it out like I did.

    Appreciate it bro! I just ordered a kit like this and hopefully it works. My wheel is still completely attached though. I just took the center wheel cap off for access, as I don’t have the tools to take the wheel/rotor etc off

      @MendandMake  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can rent tools at auto zone they are usually free. Meaning you put a deposit down finish the job and bring the tools back and you get your money back

      @@MendandMake I didn’t know that. Thank you. worst case scenario I can do that, an extended hex drive should do the trick though..

      @@MendandMake got the re-threading nut all the way down, and so smooth I’m able to do it with my fingers. Thing is, I may have ruined the threads on my new axle nut, as it’s not going on, even though they’re the same size. Could I leave the Re-threading nut on and drive my car until my new axle nut comes in??

    You should have installed the axle to the rotor as if it was ready drive, that way you could have had the axle not fight you during the threading.

    • @MendandMake
      @MendandMake  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True. I was trying to make sure I could fix it. If it wasn’t gonna work I would of had to take off the axle
