I started this last year when I saw how you did this. It has been great. We do a modified version. There are not as many of us, but we have a chest freezer that things use to get buried in😆now-I attach one of these charts to the lid and as things are put in or taken out the chart is adjusted. It has helped. Thank you for this idea.
Baby content isn't so far off from what you're doing now. You're providing for your family, and showing us in different seasons of life. It's nice to see how you do things throughout those seasons to show how it can be done. It's very helpful, and I know I appreciate it very much! I only have 5 kids and don't know how you do that all! I'm tired of spending so much on food by not focusing on meal planning around what I have. I'm looming forward to the January challenge again. The last year I did the challenge our sink clogged & we had a big plumbing bill...my husband snarled at me "you & your no spend January!'. He was joking & wasn't being mean. I reminded him if we didn't do No Spend January, we wouldn't have extra money for the unexpected expense!

This will be my 7th year for the pantry challenge. In 2019 I decided to try it for 3 months and to my surprise did well. I do make an exception of my raw milk subscription every 2 weeks and any too good to pass items to preserve that may be on sale. I spend this time also preserving what I can as I use up my stock. I ordered and have received both magazines and SOOO HAPPY with them. Fifty years ago I read Organic Gardening magazine religiously and when we finally moved from the city to the country and I got to practice what I'd been reading about, I was so surprised at how much I had learned. I had to get over the laughter that I inspired when going to the feed store for animal food and plant starts as the laughter came from the word 'organic'. I kept on and now everyone has at least heard about it and so many new gardeners are wanting organic food. I now have another great source to learn from - these magazines were meant for me. Thanks so much! I am now beginning winter canning and NEED to know what I need before I run out. Just found I had chicken stock or canned chicken that was over 3 years old. I MUST do a freezer clean out and also find all the stuff I've canned and hidden. My house is small and I store garden, food, canning, canning supplies and TONS of art supplies - so it is a hoarders dream. I was going to start this afternoon and up your video popped. As a retired CPA, I appreciate your new system so much. Appears to be most effective method I've seen. So when I get up from YT, I will go find a graph notebook which I have lots of, and begin this fun project. It will also be very sad as I find stuff so old but ready to dump into a soup and clear out! YEA for lunches and my sanity. Yea for clean storage shelves and under the bed. It will be my Thanksgiving miracle! Thank you so much!

I have been in period of mourning and not wanting to leave home so my pantry and freezer kept me going for 6 months without stores...it would keep me going longer but the hurricane hit North Carolina ver y hard so I did a lot of donating...a lot....now I will prepare for your challenge again...I am loving watching you and your babies...they grow up so fast...and you look so beautiful pregnant...my baby days are long gone but love watching you and your family with the new babies...

I've started my pantry journey last year. Prior to that I worked full time with lots of OT and my food storage consisted of what was in my kitchen shelves fridge and one freezer. It was all I thought I needed until covid forced my retirement and I had time to rethink that. Now I can and freeze dry to add to an actual pantry beyond my kitchen shelves. A lot of this has been due to your influence. I've just gotten to the point of needing an inventory so the timing is perfect. Thank you and best wishes to you and your family

Perhaps another video on the difference between food growing/storage versus preparing for shortages (prepping and the like). Maybe include things you do stock up on for long term usage. I personally would find it interesting to compare the then and now.

Thank you for showing how you inventory. This reminded me that I have several packs of grid paper in my office. I think this is a great way to use it productively, clear out something I wasn’t using, and make my food inventory easier.
I found short ribs from our steer 2 years ago! I canned them up a few weeks ago. They were triple wrapped in the freezer so they were fine but we do a full inventory twice a year so I have no idea how we missed 3 packs of them 🤷🏻♀️ I need to try your system again. I did it last year but I would forget to remind family to mark things off. Live and learn.
I'm totally in for this year! I'm definitely doing January, probably February and hopefully March. I'm giving myself $100/month for our family of 3 for fresh produce and essentials as needed but I'm planning to keep it under $50
I've been so blessed too find a small chest freezer on sale now things will be so much easier this coming season,and I just scored enough plums for 7pts,pears for munching on a health sweet snack 9-1/4 pts. 6pts chicken meat in broth, and 4qts of chicken bone broth and more pts of carrots and potatoes. Then I do and inventory list too.

I use graph paper for the boxes, and tape the paper to the freezer or food storage pantry. I keep a colored pencil next to it and color in the square when I take the product out. Happy baby time to you!

My dear Mother said to us children, back in the 70's, that when a pregnant lady's face is beautiful looking, then, it's a boy. If the lady's face is not so beautiful, then it's a girl. She also told us that a pregnant lady's baby bump that looks sharp and pointy, it's a boy. That if the baby bump is rounded and slightly lower, then, it's a girl. Anyway, she always guessed the young ladies babies accurately. She also told us kids that she breast fed a neighbour's baby because the mom had difficulty to breast feed that baby. I was then a baby. I thought it so amazing that ladies during the yesteryears cared for each other even to the extent that they breast fed other people's babies. She lived in wonderful times.

I am looking forward to the pantry challenge. I have always kept an inventory on my upright freezer and checked off as we used up. It always saved me so much time. It also help me to know how much of what meat we go threw every year. It's always helped to know how much to buy when that meat goes on sale. I like to try and have at least 6 months of meat in the freezer. I never thought of doing it with my canned goods. I can't wait to work on it this month coming. Wishing you a safe and speedy labor. I've been so blessed too find a small chest freezer on sale now things will be so much easier this coming season,and I just scored enough plums for 7pts,pears for munching on a health sweet snack 9-1/4 pts. 6pts chicken meat in broth, and 4qts of chicken bone broth and more pts of carrots and potatoes. Then I do and inventory list too.

I use graph paper for the boxes, and tape the paper to the freezer or food storage pantry. I keep a colored pencil next to it and color in the square when I take the product out. Happy baby time to you!

So excited for another pantry challenge. I want to get my freezer under control. I’m tired of not having any room. I want to use up a lot of items this year. Also I got some super cubes and I love them. Wanted them for years and finally just decided to go for it.

That's such a great idea. I am that person you were talking about with freezer full and canning just everywhere but never found anything I would stick to. This is such an easy plan, once you put in the work to get it all inventory. Looking great. God bless

My dear Mother said to us children, back in the 70's, that when a pregnant lady's face is beautiful looking, then, it's a boy.
If the lady's face is not so beautiful, then it's a girl.
She also told us that a pregnant lady's baby bump that looks sharp and pointy, it's a boy.
That if the baby bump is rounded and slightly lower, then, it's a girl.
Anyway, she always guessed the young ladies babies accurately.
She also told us kids that she breast fed a neighbour's baby because the mom had difficulty to breast feed that baby. I was then a baby.
I thought it so amazing that ladies during the yesteryears cared for each other even to the extent that they breast fed other people's babies.
She lived in wonderful times.
I had friends that breast fed my baby and I breast fed others babies. This was the 70’s and 80’s, not so long ago.
Yes, I breast-fed my niece one time. She was in babysitting with my son and was really crying while waiting for her mommy to come. It calmed her down.

I am looking forward to the pantry challenge. I have always kept an inventory on my upright freezer and checked off as we used up. It always saved me so much time. It also help me to know how much of what meat we go threw every year. It's always helped to know how much to buy when that meat goes on sale. I like to try and have at least 6 months of meat in the freezer. I never thought of doing it with my canned goods. I can't wait to work on it this month coming. Wishing you a safe and speedy labor.
