What I love about DJ Premier is that even as a 50+ years old icon, he still shows up to every gig with a look on his face of a 17 year old dreaming teenager playing his first show
this gave me goosebumps as its 100% true! saw him when i was a teenager at a small gig in fucking germany in a fucking small town and he was going nuts and all the time screaming: "you want more?!"... believe it or not i was even smoking a blunt with him on the scene as it was a small crowd, not even bodyguards etc. he is super chill and truly a living legend.

I think in a way an actual produced album can never have the same musical quality of an improvised set like this because this is all just vibing in the moment. You can never have that energy building up when producing an album, and with guys like these, that results in spontaneous moments of pure musical genius.
@@RA-el6zj I get what you're saying but it's not true at all. It may not be the most popular] but there is a lot of music on albums that is improvised. A lot of jazz is improvised even when recorded in the studio and there are entire jam bands (Grateful Dead being the most popular)

Can't agree more , I've been listening to it many times and still come back to it , my favourite part starting at 49:00 with the oh yes indeed part until 1:23:30, you can literally see them and hear them synchronizing one with each other in order to give something so beautiful and harmonious that it does not sound improvised at all anymore. These 34mins are gold
I think it’s something to do with his improv skills. It just takes a little taste for him to get inspired and take off, and he plays so well off of other musicians when they give him that. It’s so inspiring to watch!

I love re-watching this jam session. Perhaps the part that I enjoy the most is when Premier stepped out, Brady and Marc jammed about how they missed him. That may be one of the reasons they meshed so well. They worked together.

Check out this moment for example (but be sure to have good headphones in order to clearly hear the bass otherwise it's a waste) : From 49:00 until 58:35 , step by step it's autobuilding itself and finally at 53:00 it becomes incredibly good, a true alchemy between a scratch a bassline and a keyboard....oh yes indeed ;)

I love re-watching this jam session. Perhaps the part that I enjoy the most is when Premier stepped out, Brady and Marc jammed about how they missed him. That may be one of the reasons they meshed so well. They worked together.

Check out this moment for example (but be sure to have good headphones in order to clearly hear the bass otherwise it's a waste) : From 49:00 until 58:35 , step by step it's autobuilding itself and finally at 53:00 it becomes incredibly good, a true alchemy between a scratch a bassline and a keyboard....oh yes indeed ;)
