This is a musical to relax and forget reality for more than an a hour !!! This is what people need before to go to sleep !!! More please, thank you ??? ❤❤❤😊😊😊 L.M.
Dialogue, understandable diction, a decent script, characters. Gosh, I'd forgotten how that made for a great story telling experience. No mumbling, no swearing, no ghastly cacophony
I'm.obsessed with the white and pink dress with feathers Betty Grable wore in dance with Caesar Romero toward beginning of this movie. A young star could wear that today and it wouldn't look dated. Beautiful.
I just discovered Betty Grable on TH-cam after all these years. She was my favorite when I was a little kid in grade school. I had a whole scrapbook devoted to her and bought a movie magazine every month including her photographs that are so famous.
Si la habéis puesto en español las gracias os lo agradezco porque tengo muchos años me distraigo mucho con ustedes con el cine antiguo que es el mejor época y gracias de nuevo
I enjoyed the movie immensely! It was excellent! Loved all the actors and actresses in the movie. Thank you so much for posting for our enjoyment. Blessings.
John Payne had it all. Gorgeous, could sing, dance, do comedy and drama. I never appreciated Harry James because my parents liked him. His playing was outstanding.
So enjoyed this movie! Thank you for putting it on TH-cam. Most every Saturday in my youth I spent at my local theater watching delightful movies such as this one. Fond memories!❤️🤗👏
Betty knew the process flattered platinum blondes. After 'Footlight Serenade' Zanuck gave her a new contract which guaranteed she would always be in glorious Technicolor.
Every day I feel this way and I find great relief in reading comments of people here who feel similarly to me. I often wonder if I’m just crazy and out of touch. What a sad world we live in. Right up until the 80s people spoke and behaved differently in movies and in society.
Oh come on…you must be watching the wrong movies.I love these old movies and the actors were all around good performers but there are some really talented actors today as well.
After discovering Moon Over Miami in 2001, I watched it 100 times on VHS. Now, I find Betty Grable is in another movie with the same personal maid, LOL. What a find!
When Payne first sees Carmen in her Tutti Frutti outfit, he exclaims 'Good Neighbors'. This is a joke about Roosevelt's Good Neighbor policy of cultivating friendship with Latin America. Hollywood helped out by producing exotic musicals set south of the Rio Grande; Carmen was their biggest discovery. Singing a Latina version of 'Chattanooga Choo-Choo' was a way of conveying the message that Uncle Sam, not Adolf, was her buddy.
That dance at 41:26 is fabulous. I do feel like this movie was written for other actors though. The dialogue is reminiscent of Jimmy Stewart but the dancing is all Fred and Rita.
What keeps these so-called routine, formulaic pix such good fun is that the stars were genuinely interesting personalities as well as gifted, industrious performers. Betty, Carmen, Romero and the hilariously sharp-tongued Charlotte Greenwood make a nutritious mix. You need a bland leading man such as John Payne for them to bounce off, or the mix would be indigestibly rich. And the pace- the whip-smart dialogue, the casual assurance of the songs and dances! The reason why shots ran longer then was that the audience did not need pasted-on visual fireworks from supersonic cutting and special effects. The performers dished up enough of it.
Betty's just one of many, many actors and actresses who threw it all away for cigarettes. Somebody will reply, "But nobody knew about it until the warning on the pack." Nonsense.

Aw! Betty Grable! One of the most wonderful actresses and dancer of the 1940's! Made every dance scence looks flawless and with much joy and ease!
she could sing too
Oh the FABULOUSLY GLAMOROUS CLOTHES!!! They make me swoon!
Folks were living large way back when without technology all it took was was a orchestra and some dance moves with a song in your heart
Carmen Mirando was the perfect talented comic relief..and what a super cast all around!

On the other hand, the blatant racism of the Indigenous caricatures around 20:42 would be totally unacceptable nowadays.

@@aubreytrevesI'd say the same to the op then, if racism is no issue for you

Great movies .. love these kind of movies . Much better than the crap Hollywood puts out today
There were some crappy movies made back then too. You can’t say all movies put out today are crap, there’s been some really great movies produced.
@@27kjh The thing is there is pure beauty depicted in these old movies versus the ugliness of today’s.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful movie 🎬
I love Cesar Romero! Such a talented, handsome man and a gentleman in every sense of the word. ❤
The lines are so funny! "You should have gone down the fire escape."
"Look, no fire escape."
"Well ... a gentleman would have jumped!"
I love a Classic Song and Dance Movie !!!

I’m so here for the solo dance scene at 53:21. Gold! 😂
Feast for the eyes! 😊
Such talent. Actors back then could really perform not like actors today and CGI special effects etc.
absolutely correct !

Right! "the good neighbor policy" is also mentioned after 2nd opening number of Carmen's other fox 1940s musical "The gangs all here"
Thank you for this informations 😊..
wonderful. thanks.
Loved to see this on TH-cam.
The *dancing* at 42*:::. mark of the film*, is *exquisite* ~*!*!*!* ✨☄️❤️🌹🌹🌹✨
8:12 - her fighting off his forced kiss, in front of the live audience, then smiling at them, is hilarious!
The opening background looks like the background for Bewitched opening.
We miss you Carmen!!❤️
Good movies,good pairing
This is something so much so different

Is there anything Caesar Romero couldn't do? Wow! I love any movie with my fav Carmen Miranda!
Love it!
LOL...they threw everything at the wall for this mish-mash!
Great movie. Even a young Jackie Gleason😂
Who knew Caesar Romero could dance?
He was a taxi dancer/gigolo in his early days.
That dance at 41:26 is fabulous. I do feel like this movie was written for other actors though. The dialogue is reminiscent of Jimmy Stewart but the dancing is all Fred and Rita.
And that jitterbug move at 1:27:37 is fabulous!
Cesar Romero underated performer
The Great One!! before he was the Great One!
Que homem lindo o john Payne.
56:17 Carmen Miranda
56:39 sings and dances 💃
1:30:15 end
Which perfume did she mention in between Tabu and My Sin? 4:54 time stamp
OMG!!! The dance at 41.32 must have got through the censor when he was asleep - thank goodness. What a brilliant performance!!
Yes, a very sensual dance flawlessly performed.
A very Fred & Ginger dance, by their choreographer - Hermes Pan!

Almost didn't recognize a young Jackie Gleason

Nowadays this movie, as delightful as it seems, would be accused of playing to cultural stereotypes.
I didn’t realize Jackie Gleason was in this 😊
Jackie Gleason before The Honeymooners

I remember when these 40s Technicolor movies were only available in B/W.
This is so similar to "America's Sweethearts" . They added to the plot, with the poor sister working for the brat sister.
Funny movie
John Payne was a good looking man. He had to put up with so many women that didn't stand close.
Girl with Boy and no weird stuff! Nature popularly excepted by normal people around the world.

To be fair this isn't the best musical or clever plotted offering but it was cheerful enough.
