@@Wayneisboss digimon world 3 is probably objectively the best one. What I really like is that they are all completely different games, but all are equally nostalgic and i’d definitely would play all of them again. Have fun playing through them!
I like how the colour system has lasted all the way up to the most recent version of the card game. Now we just need a video game for that version.

8:58 I've never known anyone to actually call it the 'cross' button, no matter how much the Colonel from MGS tries to push it on me.
Kind of makes me want a little extra scene where Snake and the Colonel have an argument about what the button is called.

I've finished both campaigns (you get a really cool reward for V-mon!) and I have never skipped a single battle animation. I really like them.
This is literally my favorite Digimon game and I've played it for the first time as an adult.
And I'm also so happy you've got to see that final twist unspoiled!

That twist is super goddamn cool. Especially with how he doesn’t stop hacking from the first time and cheats in the card game itself.
My goodness, seeing the thumbnail really brought me back- this game occupied a disproportionately large of my childhood- this and Monster Rancher Card Battle Episode 2.
A lot of people talking about how Junk Deck Easily breaks this game, but it's waaay simpler than this Partner Find thing. Psychemon let's you match your HP to your opponent's current HP and ModokiBetamon let's you change the opponent's to your current HP, but the thing that really ties it together is Hagurumon. Hagurumon's X ability causes it to Self Destruct doing damage to the opponent equal to it's current HP (the thing you just changed to the same value as their current HP) and leaves you with 10. And if your current HP is 10, that's a great reason to play a ModokiBetamon on them. Ain't nothing in the game can handle this nonsense.
I looked up the price of that Omnimon card from the opening and nearly had a heart attack! Hoo boy. Glad you got your current PC out of it.
That was an absolutely wild pull, and it's crazy how much that damn card has held its value lol

@Wayneisboss (I actively play the TCG.) So that card is /extremely/ hard to pull, like 1 in every 12 cases (So 1 in every 144 booster boxes.) And since Bandai is no longer printing that set, it's value will only stay high, and probably go up.
I bought a case of that set and pulled one, definitely keeping it for a few years. If the Persona 5 Weiss Schwarz deck is anything to go by I’m in the money 😅
This game is one of my favorite Digimon games, and one of my favorite PS1 games in general. The game mechanics are ideal for a videogame, it's strategy based even with all the RNG involved, and the battle graphics are really great for its time.
I remember playing this one without knowing what to expect and loving it. I'm not much of a card game guy, but this one felt so good to play. Glad to see you visiting this one, I'm looking forward to the next reviews!

One of my and my brother's favourite multiplayer games since we were kids - we're still dueling decks we've had for decades (yeesh) now. Lovely to see it get such a thorough and genuine appraisal on here. Inspired us to have a few more games too!
i really love this game! the second digimon game i have ever played after digimon world and already finished the story with all three partners with different save files because every deck have uniqueness of their own!
The new TCG is really fun! You should definitely give it a shot.

@@LeanMan82 Digimon TCG. It isn't backwards compatible with the old cards, though. It's my favorite card game, for whatever that is worth.
It's one of if not my favorite Digimon game! I remember getting it from like a Babbages back in the day as a teen, without a manual, used and for only 6 bucks...

Tbh there's something special about collecting PS1 games, and the Digimon ones are really the icing on the cake!
this game was my favorite , I played through all 3 digimon picks and beat it the game so many times and learned all its tricks like how to trick to go from C to U without R card. it was very enjoyable back then makes me crying
Hearing the game music in the background really made me nostalgic. My brother and I loved this game as children. We couldn’t get enough of digimon when we were preteens
I couldn't believe how fun it is AND how surprisingly fun the story was.
Very nostalgic journey for me; the satisfaction of evolving to the Ultimate level and hammering the opponent is addicting.
This game was an absolute blast to me when I was a kid, I play Red and Green deck focusing on Attacks and fast evolution. I should get back to play this game again at some point.

The card game battle animations is what makes digimon card battle worth playing plus it my all-time top favorite digimon video games.
This is one of the few games in digimon world that executed well. There is a lot to learn from the game mechanics from this game. It really hit the right chords
Aw man, that intro with DW2 gave me hope. It's my favorite of the old Digimon games and I've been playing it recently because a new complete overhaul mod just came out and remade the entire game. Looking forward to seeing a video about it!

when i played this game back in the day. It took me like past the first area to fully grasp the full scope of the complexity of the game. I was a really fun game.
As a kid this game was one my friends and I played relentlessly, multiple files each and restarting every now and then, fighting eachother and trying out all kinds of cards to see what they did, oh yeah, we had the japanese version! We loved it and played it so much that after a while we started recognizing the characters that meant certain effects!

This game has so many fond memories for us. "A" was such a crazy puzzle of a final boss to solve because we relied on our partner digimon heavily throughout the game and that jerk buries all of them at the bottom of your deck!! But with a "partner finder" card we retrieved our Veemon, armor digivolved it to a Raidramon equipped it with a triple-power X attack to absolutely shred A's darkness digimon, and managed to save the day. One of our most cherished gaming memories. Thank you for bringing it all back.
I never understood the card battle game in this, but the one in digimon world 3 I spent WAY too much time on...

@@Robert_D_Mercer I like the mini card game on digimon world 3 on there. The only cons/dislike about it is if playing long term in-game progression after go back play mini card game again become more highly much difficult to win all the sudden.
You should totally give the 2020 TCG a shot. As you've seen already, the art and design is gorgeous and it's mechanically quite easy to get into and fun.
I remember that I was seriously freaking out as a 10-years old kid when A made his reveal, thinking that my PS1 is broken! At first I even restarted the console and was so glad that everything works and my save is still there! Second time, I have realized that this is indeed intended, but that background sound was so dreadful still, that I had to turn the volume down to a minimum, that's how disturbing it was to me. Then, that already evilish VenomMyotismon, looking like being posessed on 1st turn screen.... That was my scariest experience with any videogame ever I think.
Very nice game after all, I have beaten it all and finished all post-game tasks and collected everything collectible back then. Thanks for bringing good memories back, maybe I will check it out again after more than 20 years!
Aside from World 1 me and a great friend at the time enjoyed playing Card Battle and we stayed up all night early morning playing. Priceless experience and times.
This game rocks and the final boss was a pretty fun experience. If I remember correctly, I started with Veemon and would always use Flamedramon, who has a counter ability. Conveniently, the final boss always spams the exact attack that Flamedramon counters, so his lack of knowledge about how to play the game led to him losing match-ups he could've won through smarter plays. It felt like a perfectly justified win in-universe: he had a ton of great cards, but no idea how to use them.

you can easily win the game using deck where Rare Digimon + Partner only. This deck can win the match quick by used Partner Finder to search partner that can use First Attack to wipe opponent in single hit by manipulating opponent digimon HP using the Rare Digimon effect such as Psychemon, ModokiBetamon, ToyAgumon, L-ToyAgumon

I remember being genuinely frightned when I got to the ending as a kid haha. And by some miracle I actually beat him on my own without looking at any guides.
Since he hacks into my deck to put all my Partner Digimon at the bottom, I interpreted this as the games telling me to discard my whole deck and throw all my chips into my partners. Sure enough, my Flamedramon Circle Counters got me the W.

Ahh yes, Digimon Card Battle. This game got me addicted. Among all the Digimon games, this is the one I love the most. Curb stomped everything using Water cards (cards with the most HP) and attack up support cards.
Underrated game , I hope they re invent this game one of my all time favorite PS1 games

i remember when i was a kid, i won vs analogman in the same way.... Years later, after a few years of card games experiences, i came again, and i can tell you could make a "milling deck".... it was stupidly easy ALL THE GAME since you can get this deck way to early...

Red deck unga bunga actually worked since V-mon was a really good partner, especially since he also gets Magnamon as an armor evolution. It's basically a super busted Ultimate level card for free.
So I never played this game, but I *did* play some of the og card game when I was a wee lad, and seeing those cards and hearing the original anime theme lit up my nostalgia neurons.
This game was my childhood I got it from the reject bin . And genuinely one of the best moment in my childhood is when I beat the game 😊

First video of yours I watched Wayne and loved it. I love the physical Digimon tcg and play it a lot. I have a wonderswan Digimon card game in Japanese and I couldn't figure out anything but I think I'll find a copy of this one you played and give that a jam. You made the game look so much fun

Digital Card Battle was my favorite digimon game
I did actually have the old cards when I was a kid, I honestly have no idea where and when they got lost.. Truly sad...Did play and finish this one quiet a few times, the Digimon franchise was a huge hype. The intro was actually pretty cool haha and to be honest, the game was good.
If anyone is interested in making a guide, the card fusion system is simple.
The type of card you get is determined by what you choose. 2 card of different colours will give you a third card of a specific colour.
2 cards of the same colours or 2 options cards will give you an option card.
The sum of the total exp value of the card will determine which card you'll get, each specific exp total value having a pool of cards you can get which have at least 1 card but usually more.
Also you can't get the card you fuse so the game will give you a card from an adjacent card pool if necessary.
Also, the highest exp value card you can get from card fusing is Yellow Banana which is busted because the effect is basically "I'm not dying this turn." :P
The digimon card with the highest exp value is WaruMonzaemon for some reason, thus fusing two of them will net you a Yellow Banana but exp-wise that's overkill.
Also, if you play the Japanese version, in some of the battles, song from the Anime will play like Butterfly, Braveheart and Target.

I love the simplicity in this game you just have 4 cards in hand and the effect description is just one sentence super easy and friendly and fun
Not like the new game reminds me of yugioh that it has a ton of effects and everything going super fast you can't realize wth is happening like my ram in my head can't handle it
I played this first time as a kid. Immersion was off the charts. Not sure if something is wrong with the game at first and then was terrified when I couldn't beat him, couldn't save and I barely made it trough the arena.
After a couple of tries the way I ended up beating him was really satisfying(if just dumb AI looking back). I took the clue that he sent my partner cards to the back, so I just kept returning my hand until I got my partner Vmon and played him as Flamedramon. Kept countering his O for the win. :D
I still play the game here and there for fun. It can be a bit tedious on a fresh playtrough(turning off the polygon battles absolutely helps), but still a lot of fun. Also card game I played that lets you see your opponents hand, which adds an interesting layer of strategy, while not removing randomness completely with the wildcard. 2 player mode is also a blast.
I play this game for 6 hours today, stucked at analogman and then was able to beat him thanks to the yellow cards special effects.. haha
Toy Agumon to the rescue 😬
I ended up beating Analogueman by relying solely on Circle countering cards, as I had missed out on the Hacking card and noticed that he seemed to always go for the strongest attack option every single time. It's actually surprisingly doable since he'll simply self-destruct once the HP of Apocalymon gets beneath a certain threshold, so it's just a case of holding on until then while whitling his health down and taking whatever chance you can get to score an easy win against his lesser cards inbetween each Apocalymon summon.
I adored this game as a kid! The best deck is offensive water and it’s not even close!
If anyone is going to play this I have some great advice that might save you some time or help you paln your decks
card colors:
red: Generally have high attack
green: their rookies give you lots of dp, might be worth having a few just to evolve
black: evolutions cost a lot but the ultimate level cards are great
blue: I think this is the tanky survival color
yellow: the meme color, keep these because oh boy there's a part of the game where you get locked out of the rest of the world for a little bit and the opponents here are insane and their cards would probably be banned in a sane world but here we are, anyway if you have some of the basic yellow cards, with some smart play, these battles are easy.
Partner digimon are really strong, even the ones who don't really fit your deck will be able to learn some amazing effects and even increase the dp they give, always have your partners to give them xp and they will become your key cards as main powerhouses or support.
...... seriously, how did I miss this one. I am filled with sadness....
I'm also sad the current tcg doesn't have a digital adaptation.
I love this game. I've emulated it a few days ago and am having a blast revisiting it. I don't know a whole lot about the Japan only prequel, but I know that it has a... very questionable version of Agumon.

The first time I played this ge as a 10yo kid. The appearance of A freaked me out and made me close the game immediately. It wasn't until a few years later as a teen that I went back to beat the game.

Now you say there's no one type that's better than the other....except Dark type. Each type has their own special thing. Fire is high attacker, Ice is defensive, Nature is Digivolve Speed, Rare is the trickster (average everything else but have a variety on Digimon effects)...and Darkness? Darkness can be summed up as "High Risk". Slow digivolve speed (there are Dark cards with +0DP, lots of +10s and Champions that need DP 40 minimum), low HP, average to high ATK..and Digimon effects that borders on insanity. IIRC, there's a card that doubles ATK power but drop your HP to 10 or discard 7 cards from deck to discard pile just for a 1k atk boost. So best play for a Dark deck is to combo it with Nature or Fire.
when I played it before I only fought A 1time and defeated him, I got lucky that I countered all his O attack
This game is EPIC. Needs remake/remaster/sequence...
Digivolving a weaker character card to a stronger character card makes me think of how leveling up worked in the old DBZ card game. You start at level 1 for your character and gain Anger through card effects. When you reach 5 anger, you reduce your anger to zero and change to your level 2 card. Depending on the version of the game, you could potentially reach level 5 for certain characters.
The game certainly had more going for it than I'd anticipated it would; I usually find these kinds of things tend to be insanely difficult and generally unrewarding, but I'm glad the Digimon crew got this one right.
I hope you make videos on the other Digimon world games, ESPECIALLY Digimon World 4 cause...that game...was...something to say the least
