Great to see you driving George .You did well to get up and running so quick.
I remember when you used to have radiator centres were you could take radiators for exchange or repair.
Lets hope we get some sunny weather to work in!!!!!

Hi everyone so George has been used this week for my Daily driver and he seems to run well. As you know I have plenty of jobs to do so I will be removing the sump next week to change the gaskets also I now have a replacement radiator thanks to William 👍.
    Thanks for watching 🤓👍.

    Just an observation.
The engine tie rod is on upside down the L bracket should face down.
At a MMOC show I did a check and its about 70/30 if its on the right way!! but if you look in the Factory Workshop Manual the L is shown as down.
I also replaced the rubbers on the tie rod on my car, that helped.
Also dont forget to check the wire steady on the gearbox it can stretch and rust away and cause the engine to move.
In my opinion the 948 is a smoother running engine than the 1098 which always seems a bit more audible at times.
Dont worry about the haters, ignore them, they are probably jealous of you having George. As you say they dont have to watch
Wish you many more happy miles and hope to see you at a show sometime so I can park my Minor 1000 next to George.
I'm just off into the garage to fix a slow puncture that I got last weekend, there's always something 😅😅😅

the vibration could also be the propshaft. Good to see the car out and about..The engine sounds smooth though GN

Hi thanks for watching and thanks for the comment I don't think it is prop as its when not driving. Might be fitting old mounts back soon 🤓👍

I wouldn’t remove the engine steady in George. It’s pretty essential to support the engine. Mainly the exhaust manifold to exhaust flange clamp. If this is missing it’s quite regular the manifold collar that you bolt the clamp to breaks away with metal fatigue and movement. Just my heads up. I would also refit the old rubber mountings if you ever get front panel of again or when doing radiator swap. These modern engine mountings may seem ok but far from it from my experience

Thanks Paul for your advice. I have a few jobs I need to do on George so might change them back to the Old ones. 🤓👍

So still haven't tested the temp gauge yet?? And the thermostat? If the engine's really running hot, you'll shag this one too. That'd be what I'd be doing next, sod the wiring.

      @woowoo883classiccars  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

George is not getting hot he is off the road having work done the gauge will be checked. The reason when the engine lost oil was nothing to do with overheating

@woowoo883classiccars just thinking of you. A temperature gauge that reads hot all the time would worry the crap outta me. Bought a car for the stepdaughter, ran like crap and heater didn't work. Thermostat was seized. New thermostat and antifreeze and was a new car!
