I love combining the original gate with the delayed gate into an "OR" - can really humanize the rhythm. With heavy ratcheting can emulate mallet percussion technique.

Cool idea. I've been using delayed gates to trigger a second envelope, to help create "plucked" and double-stick type sounds.
