    Thank you for posting this. Very interesting. I remember when Patrick More used to present The Sky at Night. He was one of the first astronomers to make astronomy available to the general public.

    What ever happened to the cultured British voices with which extraordinary things were made even more extraordinary, eh wot, Governor? If I ever need drains unclogged, bathroom tubs de-scaled or paint stripped from walls, no matter the height of them, then little red squealing coat will be my first call.

      The varied accents have always been there but it's only over the last couple of decades that the BBC had realised it.
      Fred Dibnah was an exception. And he was one of the most engaging presenters ever.
